Greg and his wife are the GREATEST !! I'm from out of town and they did a frame for me in 4 days to take back with me. Loved the finished product and their service.

Greg and Julie are absolutely lovely! Kind, and focused on superb customer service. I had a large piece that nobody would frame. I tried 21 shops between San Jose & Monterey. I called as a first time customer and explained to Greg. He said "bring it in and I'll figure it out." The piece is stunning! I will never go anywhere else. True old school customer attention.

I took in a painting to have it framed and was so disappointed when I saw a large scratch right across the bottom left-hand side. I talked to the owner about it and he said it came in that way. I have photographs of it before I brought it in.. please do not use and support this type of person

Greg and Julie have done many frames for myself and I have to say that not only do I appreciate their hard work but honesty in helping me find and take the time to get my collections done right. I hate micheals and hobby lobby where it's limited and they treat you like some kind of number. If I'm going to support those who support me, I'm choosing them and my wonderful work. Quality and amazing service

Judging by how unpleasant the owner's reaction is to other low-scoring reviews from customers, I can already imagine what he'll say about mine and me - but you can see how many positive reviews I have submitted on Google - and you can also see how much of an outlier this one is. Most owners have the EQ to adjust to and learn from their customer's needs and desires; this one does not. If you seek someone to put a frame on something and you want to outsource the entire project with no personal input of your own, this might be your place. If you have a strong design sense of your own, do not go here. The owner only wants certain jobs, is not managing his own framing inventory well, and has no appreciation for wasting your time. The first time I visited I was left sitting for almost an hour until he said he wasn't going to get to me. The second time, it was clear he didn't like my abstract piece of art and he kept putting frames on it I didn't like. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that every frame I personally chose was ultimately out of stock (esp now that I've read other low-scoring reviews). I mean ALL FIVE FRAMES I'd ultimately chosen were no longer available - yet all were hanging on his wall as options from which to choose. Even if it was a genuine supply chain issue, he wasted my time by not keeping his inventory up-to-date. When I had simpler pieces to frame and I didn't care as much about the frame, shockingly the frames were in-stock. Even then, the work took over 4 months. The workmanship was fine, but I found the owner unprofessional, arrogant, insensitive to wasting time (the most precious thing we all have) and much more concerned about his sense of taste than mine.

Half of their items are out of stock or not in production, so you'll spend 30 minutes picking out things that you can't even get. Kinda stuffy and snooty too. Pass

Unfortunately I would not recommend this place. For being the top rated one on Yelp we were excited and hopeful that they would be able to frame our artwork. After spending an hour in the store, pulling frame samples, we were told that the majority of them were out of stock, and that the ones that were in stock were going to cost us well over $1200 to frame, not including labor fees. We were told to "save up some money" and come back when we could afford an expensive frame. Rude to say the least, and we left feeling discouraged. We immediately drove over to Glenn Gobel Custom Frame in PG and what a different experience!! We were helped immediately and told that we would definitely be able to find a frame for well under $1000. We ended up spending half the amount, and were able to find a beautiful frame. If you are looking to get art framed, go to Glenn Gobel! So worth it!!

I took a cross stitch project of mine into get framed and he said I should take it somewhere else before he framed it to clean and iron and reshape it. The top of it was narrower because of the tension. When I showed him the other work I've done before and after it was framed and that I didn't take it to anyone else beforehand he said he'd given his advice so he was done talking to me. I took it to a custom frame shop in Salinas and they did everything for me and stretched it in place and reshaped it for me themselves. Good thing someone else did a beautiful and complete job for me and I didn't have to pay someone else to do work before themI understand he wants it to look the best possible but when I tried to explain what I wanted that I had done before he seemed defensive and rude. Given that the framing already costed $265 and I had to take that money out of my savings I am fine without doing all that stuff before as it would probably be pricey too. I’m not made of money and I just had to get my car smog checked, pay my car registration, and pay for a $300 car service all in the same month. I’d rather not have to spend $500 all together to get something so small framed with the insane prices these framers charge

We have used Greg to frame many pieces for us over the years and he has always done a beautiful job. Whether we're framing or reframing fine art or photographs, Greg's work is gallery worthy. You don't save money by using a cheap framer.

Back in 2019 I went home to visit my mother, and celebrate her 80th birthday. The CEO, who is 1 of the majority owners of the company I work for, gifted my brother and I with a nice card from he and his wife. I wanted to return with a gift from the island (American Samoa) for him.Long story short, a picture I had taken was beautifully canvassed, framed and created for me by the owners of this business. It was the perfect gift. I was thankful beyond all measures for what they (Monterey Custom Framing) was able to do for me.

What a great experience! In this day of big box stores and no customer service, it was a breath of fresh air to go in to this family owned business. Great and friendly customer service, and less expensive than Michael's would have been! Sad to see these small businesses start to disappear, but you can still bring your projects here without sacrificing cost or convenience!
