Worst bank ever. They do not call or answer calls. Claim payments were not recieved when dropped off at after hours drop box. Reposses cars multiple times with the same claim of non payment. Take days to respond with invoice to begin getting repossesed cars out all the while the dingy repo company they use in Salinas collects daily holding fees. Customer representatives at the bank are rude and not helpful, refuse to give corporate information, all while trying to push you to sign up for a checking account with them. Ruining credit scores, while raking in money. Thats what I call good business practices.

Really consistently disappointing service.....ranging from in person service to that received via telephone. I have been having difficulty with my account, have left VM as well as live person request for a return call. Unfortunately, I continue to be unable to work with the credit union to resolve my issues.

Worst Junk Fee's , Stay away from MCU, they keep dinging me with BS Junk Overdraft fee's that they cause. It got so bad I had to complain to state regulators with proof to get the fee's refunded. They paid a check on my account that I never wrote, I don't even posses a check # that high, literally thousands off from my current check #'s, this caused my account to go negative. Instead of admitting mistake, they say legit charge, I ask for refund & proof of canceled check, I get neither. I file complaint with state regulator & 3 days & 2 people later, a refund.. Another instance I was charged the $29 overdraft fee & my account was still positive by $1.82, the algorithm jumped the gun & just assumed I would go negative, but I moved money before that happen, but still charged the $29 before I complained. You need to watch them, they will take every opportunity to cheat you & take $29 from your account..

Do not go here unless you want to get your car repossed. Yes, I said repossed . The worker had assured me that my refinancing loan was over and done with, and had told me that if anything came up, he would give me a call. His name is Brian the manager refuse to give me his last name. That way I am from the public of who now to go to. He works in the Salinas branch as well as in the Monterey branch. Upon discussing this with their manager, the manager sought to blame me. His name is David Santos and he's a regional branch manager at Monterey credit union. Please make sure that if you do business with these people you save the information the number of who you speak to messages if you have them screenshot them emails save them. It is because of this people that my car was repossessed. I was told I wasn't going to pay for three months. It turns out that those three months ended up being late payments because Monterey credit union fell to properly inform the client of a discrepancy and due to the discrepancy. I am now forced to pay months of late payment Plus the repo fee. This was very unprofessional. This is very unacceptable. I do not recommend Monterey credit union. Do you research people.

Customer service It's appalling. Had problems with my mobile deposit, and they would not even consider helping me. It just shows you how customer service is gone. Would not recommend them to anybody. I'm getting ready to move all my banking.

Always responsive, helpful, and kind customer service. The only reason I didn't give a 5th star is that I wish they had more locations. Still, I have savings, bank and car loan accounts with them with no complaints.

Free checking?Wait and see the excessive fees. I had to $180 in excessive fees, and my deposit was in before bank operating hours.12 years with this bank and no compassion for Seniors.

During Covid they closed all other locations and never reopened them. Now there are always lines and very few tellers open. I may be moving my funds to a place I feel they care about their customers. This place has turned into a joke.

Horrible experience. Been trying for over a month to get in contact with someone regarding my auto loan and gap insurance since my car was totaled and still no one has returned any of my voicemails. Avoid doing business at this facility.

Credit unions including MCU should not - as a courtesy - charge atm fees to members of sister CUs.
