Renting a car from Hertz at Monterey Peninsula Airport was a seamless experience. The location is convenient right at the airport, making it easy to get on and off your flight. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring a quick check-in and check-out process. The car selection was impressive, and the vehicle I received was clean, well-maintained, and performed excellently throughout my trip. Their competitive pricing and the overall quality of service made Hertz a great choice for my car rental needs in Monterey.

Probably not this location's fault. I got stuck with an all electronic Chevy bolt. Super annoying to try and find charging stations and they expect you to find somewhere near the airport to fully charge it. I didn't have an extra hour to kill.

First time renting from Hertz. The gentleman who helped me was very nice. The customer service was great. The whole transaction was quick and easy. Would definitely recommend coming here.

The car was dirty from the inside with dust and mud. The car smelled really bad. They over charged me. I have to call my insurance to fix the charges. They lied and said it was all the taxes but the taxes didn't add up.

They charge you for late days over the weekend even if you already returned the car, and won't listen or respond to requests for refunds.

I did not get the gas SUV car that was confirmed. I was forced to get a Tesla and have no access to a charging station and will have to pay an extra $35.00

Having a confirmed reservation means nothing to these guys. Rather than find a solution for a PC member, they’ll deflect and suggest since your name isn’t on their printed list, you’re somehow responsible. Turn off web bookings if you’re truly out of cars.

We rented a car directly through Hertz as a gold president’s circle member. We rented an economy car and when we got there, they only had a (brand new!) Tesla left. We got the brand new Tesla. After a few days, the Tesla had an electrical system failure that required maintenance (not out of charge, a full system failure) and the car locked us completely out with our stuff inside and we still had the keys. We called Hertz roadside assistance. They wouldn’t tow it back 15 minutes to to MRY where we rented from because there’s no service center at Hertz MRY. They told us to ride WITH the tow truck TWO HOURS to San Francisco airport and drive two hours back on our vacation to get a replacement. It was wild. Then they told us they’re going to charge US to tow the car! We went to MRY the next morning to get a replacement car and they were out and said there’s nothing they can do and they can’t give us a refund even though we have three weeks left on this rental.We’ve spent over two hours on the phone with Hertz and it was all a total disaster. We will never rent from this MRY Hertz again.

I'd give zero stars if that were an option. Booked two times through Priceline. The first time, we got there and they didn't have a car for us. It would have been a 20 to 30 minute wait, and we were on a tight time schedule. (The friendly guys at the Avis counter next door were fabulous, got us into a sweet Cadillac for less than our Priceline booking.) Second time around, we booked a "dealer's choice" on a special deal through Priceline. Turns out it was a two door smart car. Nope! Not driving that to the Bay Area. Again, Budget/Avis saved the day. ZERO STARS FOR HERTZ!

Stay far away. They overcharged me without my knowledge. They also close sooner than any of the other rental places in the same airport.

They closed earlier than anyone else in the airport and the scheduled pickup was after they closed. They also over-billed me without explanation.

Two times, back to back, the Hertz employees at the counter recorded full tank and 7/8 tank respectively. I drove 10 miles and 30 miles respectively. When I received my bill they charged me for 2 gallons and 12 gallons respectively. I didn't notice this on the first rental but addressed it on the second rental. The person at the counter said that there was nothing he could do and said that I should have taken pictures of the gas gauge before I drove off. I pushed back telling him that the average mpg for the cars I rented were 35 mpg and there is no way I used 12 gallons. He said that there was nothing he could do and that I needed to call the manager. I asked for the manager's name and card and he gave me a random card with no name and a number that led to an automated customer service center with no options to speak to a line person. I had to call corporate to get a refund on both. Never using this Hertz location again.

Customer service seemed ok until you complain about the actual vehicle which was horrible not clean,battery post came off,no spare tire or Jack,loud squealing belt drive or pulley, and then I called the number the guy gave me to complain about the car and they wouldn't refund my money or at least half but all they wanted to give me a $100 credit towards my next rental from them. I told them the hell with that you put my family at risk thinking the suv was good to go. I'll be calling back for management.

Everything about this rental was wonderful! The woman at the front desk named Anita was so friendly and professional! I’ll definitely be back when I need to rent again!
