This is by far the best collection of rare and first edition Western history and classic fiction I've seen. The store was very well organized and the owners were very friendly and accommodating with my questions. Some of the comments here are negative regarding the ability to actually visit the store. It is only open by appointment, but I found no issue scheduling a time over the phone. The owners were responsive and accommodating. Be sure to call ahead. This is a must visit for any book enthusiast visiting the area!

Carpe Diem Fine Books is a Monterey gem. I have purchased books over the years and I have sold books as well. It's a pleasure doing business with the proprietors and look forward to future transactions.

Go here! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I felt like I could get lost just walking through all the aisles. Small but cozy. They also have a huge hidden section of all sci-fi/fantasy books.

Owner is incredibly rude and smells like ramen. Really tho, we tried going in and she got all huffy and asked what we wanted. It's a book store...we wanted books. Pretty straight forward. Also, the ramen.
