They closed up 15 min before 9pm (closing time) and my 2 and 5 year olds literally sat outside crying because I promised them ice cream before we left. ??Luckily, the place right across the way, Wharf Chocolate Factory closed on time.. so they saved the day with delicious ice cream and of course we had to splurge on some chocolate clusters.

Don’t go to this place unless you want to get sick. The candy is older than Jesus and the storage practices are perfect for multiple generations of rats to enjoy. My girlfriend and I suffered the good ol’ “go number 1 out of the number 2” all night long. I over heard one of the younger workers complaining of stomach cramps while we were there. I should have let that be my first warning to run away…

Here in beautiful Monterey for the first time and we stopped at this candy store that literally called us in. Lol! So many choices to choose from. It is delectable candy heaven. My grandchildren would have a field day in here. So colorful, bright, and so much candy galore . They even had candy apples and fudge. So delightful and everything for your sweet tooth you can imagine. My husband loves spicy mango candy and that's what he selected. It was kind of pricey but everything is high nowadays. As far as service you have people at the counters that are waiting to ring up your order. They can answer any questions. Thank you and hopefully we'll see you again.

Right off the bat, it's a candy store. There isn't all that much that can go awry. They have a decent selection of candy. With a very good selection of taffy. Candy is sold by the pound with a quarter pound minimum. The price per pound was $17 in June 2023. I will point out that we stopped in quite a few candy shops this week and two or three before Candy World on the same day in Monterey. I'm only referring to candy shops that sold individual bulk taffy, and not just pre-boxed taffy. I will point out that Candy World on Old Fishermans Wharf was the most expensive per pound of the candy stores we visited in Monterey on the same day. The least expensive was on Cannery Row. The price difference between the high and the low three dollars per pound. ($14 vs. $17 per pound) Whether or not that matters to you is up to you.We of course walked out with some more taffy to join the other taffy we purchased else where. Candy World seemed like a nice store if you are into candy. Types of candy do vary and stores tend to vary on what the may carry. So keep that in mind and I kind of focused just of stores with bulk individual taffy available. Hope this helps in some way.

Unsanitary! They don't close the boxes and I saw a dog sniffing n putting his nose into the opener containers on the bottom shelves! I told one of the workers and she just ignored me.

Over priced candy, I was shocked to see one candy was $6 and another was $9 each!!!!! Crazy rip off for candy that is easily $1-$3 each. Ended up paying $46 for a couple peices of candy

I went in for a small amount and came out with a large bag of flavors that I've never tasted before. Chicken and Waffles taffy? Who knew it existed. The young woman in the store was very helpful and very friendly.

Little expensive for candy but guess that that visitors don't mind paying to raise prices for the locals

Worst customer service experience. There was a group that was in the shop checking out. With 2 cash register and 10 people in line, only one person ringing everyone up while the other girl was dipping cones in chocolate, which wasn’t even necessary. I don’t even k ow how they stay in business with such poor service. I don’t recommend this place and will never go back.

As someone who worked here for two days I have to warn others of the disgusting storage conditions in which candy is stored. The one on the wharf keeps the extra candy in the BATHROOM until it’s time to refill the bins. The workers there are also very rude. I got fired on my second day after I was treated badly by a woman there and after revealing I was 2 weeks pregnant. However the one across from the wharf is one ,I myself, would support. Candy is kept in a storage closet not a restroom and the woman who works there is very sweet and a pleasant coworker. Anyone who considers applying keep this in mind if you have the option to chose stores. Also there’s cans of Carbon monoxide in the bathrooms with warning labels on them stating they need to be kept in a well ventilated area. So even using the bathroom too long in the wharf shop is putting you at risk for harm as they are kept in there. I had so much anxiety using them with all the dangers and boxes stacked so high there was the potential for them falling and injury. All around I’d stay away from the wharf candy shop as a customer as well as a future employee. Still consider visiting the one across though! Even with my horrible experience and what I witnessed I’d still support them

Absolutely worst customer service. Didn't say a single word to me at checkout. I even asked a question about the fudge and she just flat out ignored me. Not even a hello, didn't say my total. I am unsure of the employees name but as a worker on the wharf I was advice people not to go here.

Excellent salt water taffy! The coconut flavor is my favorite. Picked up some treats for an open house and this taffy was a hit.So many flavors to choose from-I think they have at least 20 different flavors. They also have caramel apples, fudge, and other assorted candies. They are located on the Fisherman’s Wharf-the first store to the right.
