We have been using this vets office for the last two years and have been satisfied with them! They always get us in really quickly for appointments. They can be impersonal at times. It is also a little difficult to not be able to go back with your pets into the room but I understand why they do it. Other than that they’ve always been willing to work with us and get us in and do a thorough job looking at our animals.

The staff and business are unprofessional. I brought my dog in to discuss options because she's near end of life and with progressively worsening health issues I realize that it's time to say farewell. My wife explained this in the initial visit and, as expected, they ran a bunch of tests and charged us ~$200 just to reaffirm what we already said. My wife didn't want to make the call at that time so she accepted a pain medication, and we rescheduled 2 weeks later. Paid another $75 dollars for me to say, we're ready to let go, what are our options. They explain that this clinic cannot perform euthanasia, however, they have a relationship with a nearby business that can. They explain that the process is to bring the pet to the vet and they will initiate the procedure and then we would have to walk over to the other business to complete it. I agreed and scheduled for the following week. Next week arrives, they call us 2 hours before the appointment and say that the affiliated business could not schedule us for that day.... ok... we said fine, lets do the following week instead. We arrived the following week in the clinic with the entire family ready to say goodbye to our loved one... and they stare at us confused and say "did you book with the other business?" I replied "no... you said that this clinic would arrange the appointment and we would start here and finish there..." we had a back and forth with them claiming that's not the process and I insisted that we literally talked about it 2 weeks ago. We left (thankfully without paying for no reason at least!) and I felt compelled to visit the other business up the road to inquire about the process. A receptionist at the other business affirmed that yes, they have a relationship with this veterinary clinic and yes the clinic usually arranged the appointment and provides the paperwork ahead of time so that we initiate an appointment at the clinic and then walk over to this business to complete the euthanasia. Overall, its a very bittersweet interaction, I'm happy to spend more time with my beloved pet, but I also feel that I am prolonging her suffering. Furthermore... dragging the entire family around expecting to say farewell to our pet is an emotional rollercoaster. This business not only charged us almost $300 just to affirm what we already knew from a previous vet... but they are also toying with our emotions around a very sensitive situation. So again... I say they are unprofessional and should either find a way to perform euthanasia themselves or learn to communicate better how they want their process to go.

I think the staff is very nice and everything has been smooth regarding the vaccination process with our puppy. However, I am concerned about the cost of each visit. Unfortunately, we might have yo switch because every visit is too pricey compared to what our friends are paying for their puppy.

During my time of going to them for 1.5yrs, I received great service. They have good availability with appointments to do exam, prescriptions, or to fill out paperwork for my pet insurance. The front staff and doctors are very helpful, especially with sending your records over to you or other entities. They make refilling prescriptions a breeze. The Vet will provide you with knowledge, especially if it's only something answered from you emailing.

Been using aguajito vet for many years. I left Monterey for almost 20 years and when I returned, they were still here. I just went there the other day with my girl to get her ears checked out and her glands done and her nails clipped. They all loved Thumper so much and we're so nice to her. She loved it there. She's sometimes a little nervous and they made her feel right at home. One of the more fairly priced places for your pets.
Also, the doctor there is awesome ?
UPDATE: 2024-05-18
Thumper has been having some bad skin problems lately. It's been really hard to watch her be so uncomfortable so I took her in today and the staff and vet all took very good care of my puppy. When I walked in, I was really worried about her. When I walked out I felt confident that she was going to start doing better once the medications started doing their job. Thank you.

I have been a customer for a little over a year, and while the service is generally okay, I've noticed a tendency towards more business focused practices rather than a focus on the service and wellbeing for pets. Each visit tends to be costly as there's often a suggestion for more expensive, and sometimes unnecessary, procedures.
Just keep in mind that every visit includes vet check-up that always cost 80 dollars and annual vaccination always cost OSHA/sampling fee. I understand sampling fee could be the state law but my two previous vets would take off any unnecessary fees in good faith.
For example, I had a dog who needed to get a lab done because she was throwing up with a reddish color. It cost around 950 dollars, which included an examination. The result was inconclusive, and they recommended that we could do further testing, which would cost $1500, which I declined. I had another appointment a week later for the same dog for Bordetella, rabies, and annual examination, which cost $325 dollars (which included another examination for 80 dollars)
More recently, I also had a dog that needed his nail removed, and the follow-up that occurred 3 days after end up costing an additional ~100 dollars, and they even recommended that we come back after a few days for a further check-up after stating she nails look great. I did not realize the follow-up for a procedure cost money since the follow-up for spaying did not cost anything.
Here are some of the costs for visits over the year for reference:
Procedure to have a cracked nail removed ($573)
Annual exam for one dog ($325.45)
Annual exam for one dog ($325.46)
An annual exam + bordetella for two dogs ($320)
Lab work for one dog ($950)
Spay ($1200)
Lastly, the annual examination always feels like a check in the box for them, and they don't really end up doing anything. I would ask them about a spot/bump or significant discoloration after an examination to ask their opinions, and they would say they need to see it again to check. What is the point of examination when it doesn't feel like they are doing a thorough job? Also, it is shady to have your pets taken in the back for all procedures. They charge about 100 dollars if you want to be present with the pet during the examination (which is absurd), but they don't even ask about that anymore.
