Meeting Master Yun revealed an innate level of martial arts mastery I had never witnessed before - having studied martial arts for nearly four decades. His focus is to teach dedicated students a relaxed, true integration of the whole body, producing startling power that is not based on muscle. He does this drawing fluently from multiple major Chinese styles, many of which are hard to find in the United States, and certainly not with his expertise and direct lineage.

This is no less true when it comes to the martial arts, and particularly true for Master Yun and his martial arts school in Santa Barbara.Whether you’re a beginner or a passionate and experienced martial arts practitioner, you will not be disappointed by the access you’ll have to the superior knowledge and experience Master Yun and his school offers to his students.The school, which honors its Chinese roots and traditions, evinces a welcoming spirit to those who enter the school’s studio. There are a variety of styles a student can pursue at the school, but no matter what one’s interest is, a new world of engaging challenges and exceptional rewards await those who exhibit and express a serious and respectful interest in the Martial Arts.I’ve been pursuing an interest in the Martial Arts for many decades, and I think I’ve been very lucky to once again find a great teacher here in Santa Barbara.

Master Yun is an amazing teacher that teaches practical forms of this amazing martial arts. Be prepared to work hard and grow. I have seen massive improvement in my technique over a short period of time. Additionally, all of the other students and instructors are amazing to work with and they will work with you to make sure you are the best you can be. 7/5 stars ?

I am studying Northern Style Praying Mantis with Master Yun and the training is excellent and deeply rooted in Chinese tradition. Master Yun is an extremely disciplined and skilled martial artist who continues his own training daily, and it shows. I like his no nonsense approach to training with a strong emphasis on fundamentals, fighting strategy, and real world application. Master Yun is very patient and welcoming of everyone, and is great with kids as well. My teen brother is also his student. It makes me happy to see my brother learning something which is rooted in tradition and requires slow, dedicated work to improve at.Master Yun teaches respect for the art and leads by example. His Kung Fu is exceptional, and whenever I have a question about a specific technique he always takes the time to demonstrate the real world application in a very tangible way. I am consistently surprised at his skill and strength. His style looks beautiful while also being highly effective. Master Yun also teaches internal martial arts such as Tai Chi. I appreciate that Master Yun was able to continue teaching through the pandemic by holding classes outside. I recommend this school very much.

This is an excellent place to learn Tai Chi and/or Kung Fu. The instructors are knowledgable, friendly and experienced. All skill levels are accommodated. The studio is bright, clean and beautiful; overall a very welcoming place. If you are interested in learning Tai Chi or Kung Fu, it’s a great choice. Reasonably priced with plenty of free parking too.

Master Yun is the real deal! I challenge you to find a martial arts studio in the greater Santa Barbara area, or even the state, that matches the experience, practicality or expertise of Master Yun.Master Yun teaches all skill levels from the young to the old. Your lessons will be replete with martial arts history lessons, practical skills as well as traditional form practice. Master Yun is an expert on a multitude of weapons and martial arts styles. The martial arts universe is unlimited at Master Yun's studio. The price is competitive as well! I highly recommend.

Master Yun is by far & away the best thing to hit the entire state of California in many decades in regards to martial arts. As a Chinese martial & healing art practitioner of over 36 years Master Yun is one of the best I have ever encountered in my many travels around the globe. If you are serious about finding a REAL Gung fu or Tai chi master that can train you to the highest levels - look no further! As we say in martial art "the hardest part is finding a good teacher". I did a lot of research before I enrolled my son in Master Yun's class. Master Yun and Assistant Master Daniel are both highly skilled in teaching children. Master Yun's teaching includes the physical form, the mental concept and the practical application of both. My son has a lot of fun learning the moves and at the same time building a very good foundation.

I had attended a northern seven star pry mantis kung fu class in Santa Barbara some 20 your ago. I moved out of state for some years and returned to find that the school was no longer around. Wanting to continue my studies of pry mantis kung fu art form, I was thinking I would have to possible drive as far as Los Angeles to fine classes and a qualified teacher. I'm so glad to have find Master Yuns' Traditional Tai Chi & Kung Fu school here in the Santa Barbara area. I'm honored to be accepted as one of his students. He is truly a skilled martial arts instructor in my view second to none in this area.

Master Yun is the real deal, from Shen Yang, China and has sincerely dedicated his life to these amazingly transformational and empowering arts!1)If you plan on visiting China for business or pleasure, there is no better introduction to the richness, respect, discipline and nuances of Chinese Culture than authentic kung fu.2)If you are interested in the healing arts, self -awareness and restorative body practice, the uncommon Wu(hao) style that is taught here is an unparalleled opportunity for beginners and experienced alike to deepen or begin anew their practice. In an era of 200 hr certificates, spectacular culture and miscellaneous snake oil, what is offered this studio is a rare treasure.3) And if you are a CMA aficionado: do yourself a favor, drop in, sign the release form and cross hands with him. I'll let that speak for itself.4) And if you are a contemporary hybrid martial artist, Master Yun is all about the redemption and uplifting of CMA. McDojo's have done a disservice to us all. There is a tremendous amount of application and technique in real Kung Fu to add to your toolbox. I personally would dream of a legitimate sanshou team. Sanda is not as popular in US but it is a challenging and fun to watch fighting sport. Yun was trained by real old school kung cats with that were themselves or produced Lei Tai Champs.
