Jim is someone you could easily invite over for Thanksgiving dinner! He’s honest, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. He knew exactly what to do with my son’s (BMW) car and made a big job look easy! His pricing is more than acceptable (quite generous actually) and his work exceeds all expectations. He has my and my family’s business forever!

Unfortunately, Mac may not be as honest of a mechanic as some claim. My experience taking my BMW X6 there was a learning one. I happened to be at an appointment in the West Covina/Monrovia area, when my check engine light came on and I had to take it to the nearest BMW mechanic. I saw he had some 5-star reviews so I called him and explained the issue.He charged me $125 for a “diagnoses” and never explained or provided me a print out of what exactly he diagnosed. His explanation for this fee is because he is charged a fee to access the BMW dealership system. He performed a visual inspection of the car and not a diagnosis, but he charged anyway. And this separate fee does not get applied to the actual cost of work. Red flag #1.Second thing, when he called me to let me know cost estimation for repairs, he quoted $400 (aside of his $125 inspection fee) for an issue he said, that has to do with an electrical wire to my water pump. He couldn’t really explain where he came up with this amount ie cost of the parts needed, labor, best case/worse case scenario etc. I told him I would contact another mechanic I’ve used for a 2nd opinion and would let him know the next morning if I wanted him to move forward with repairs.I called Mac the very next morning and advised him I would like for him to go ahead and do the work. He said he didn’t have the time and it was best if I took my car to my trusted mechanic. Very odd.Glad I took him up on his advice. This guy could have bait and switched me, cost me more money in the long run and who knows if the work would have come out subpar. I think he may be a better Volvo guy.Be careful when taking your vehicle there. It’s OK to ask questions. We pay an arm and a leg for car repairs, and in this economy, it is like finding gold to have a truly honest and efficient mechanic.

We purchased a 2010 Mini cooper through a private dealer and come to find out it was a lemon. We bought the car as is and we're unable to get any help with it. We took it to Mini or Monrovia and they quoted us 14K for a new engine rebuild. Double what we paid. We called Jim over at Macs and he said he could do it for half if that's what was even needed. It took a few months but we have our car back and we could not be more overjoyed with what he has done. Jim gave weekly updates and explained everything that he was doing. We greatly appreciate him for his work and helpfulness through this trying process! Highly recommend:)

Very nice and easy going. Jim is the best at what he does. His prices are more than fair and his work is top notch. I wouldn’t trust my mini with anyone else.

Jim has worked on my Volvo C30 and keeps it real. I value his opinions and never feel like he is upselling me services I don't need. He makes great suggestions without 'mansplaining' and gives me realistic timelines for repairs. Appreciate his transparency and great prices. He's def a hidden gem for Volvo & BMW repairs in the 626!

Genuinely nice guy who knows his stuff. He's excellent about knowing the ins and outs of Volvo's and known problems. Doesn't just take your money, if it's not necessary. If somethings out of his scope, like a muffler, he'll bring over his neighbor who's an expert. I'd give him 10 stars, if I could!! I highly recommend him! Wipes down the interior after working on your & wears a mask for safety.

I have an old Volvo wagon Jim has been working on for years. He has done more work on her than I can list.Jim is as honest as they come.Jim does a great job and really knows his stuff.Jim is a great guy.I used to live close by Mac's but now I live clear across the county. I still go to Mac's and honestly would not consider going anywhere else.

I got a charge fault indicator on my XC90 Volvo. I contacted my dealer since the car is about 3.5 years old. They said I just passed my 50K mile warranty for the batteries (2). I contacted my wife's friend who highly recommended Jim at Mac's Volvo repair. So I called and left a message not expecting much during the pandemic. But I need my car to pickup groceries and medication. Jim called back within couple hours and we discussed the issue. He understood I was at high risk for the virus and said he could come by and pick up my car to run the analysis. He was great... came by and picked up the keys from my front porch and kept me informed throughout the process. Turned out the charge fault was just a poor battery. Jim returned the car and properly wiped it down before leaving. I'm very grateful that I didn't have to drive to his shop and leave it during this dangerous time. I highly recommend Jim for your Volvo or BMW out of warranty service. Yes, there is still honest and personal service in this world! Thanks again Jim!

Brought my Mini Cooper to Mac’s after quoting a transmission service in multiple specialized BMW/Mini shops. Car was shifting a little bit harsh. Jim quoted the most reasonable price. The work was done in a timely manner (gasket/filter/fluid)+ 3mo/3k miles warranty. Jim knows A LOT about our german beauties. Thanks Jim to take care of us, we will definitely will come back again!

I did a transmission service on my Mini Countryman. Jim was helpful, knowledgeable and solve my problem. Quoted the same service in multiple BMW/Mini shops and his price was the most reasonable. Will definitely bring my car again!

Recently had our Mini serviced by Jim at Macs. All around a pleasant experience--honesty, integrity, friendliness, and a skilled mechanic on top of everything else--couldn't be happier! We'll be back.
