“Going with Connie for my wedding dress alterations was a great choice! Connie is so sweet and easy to work with, listened to the fit concerns I brought up, and had some great suggestions for how to make my dress fit as perfectly as possible. My dress had a lot of layers of tulle and lace and I needed it to be shortened quite a bit - when Connie was all done it looked amazing and I was even able to dance in it, thanks to the perfectly placed bustle. Connie was very responsive to emails and let’s be honest, wedding dress alterations are expensive, but Connie’s pricing is transparent and reasonable. I would recommend her to anyone looking for wedding dress or other alterations.”

“We came here in Feb to take a passport for our 6-year-old. Johnny and the lady were very friendly. The price was reasonable. Johnny edited and processed the photo right away and we got the photo on the spot. An interesting follow-up story: When we submitted the passport application at a post office, the postal clerks said the head looked a bit small on the photo. While they accepted the photo, they also said that if any issues arose, we would receive a letter and have a chance to re-submit the photo. However, the application was processed without any issues and we already received the new passport without delays. Honestly, I wasn’t surprised because I saw how Johnny edited the photo with care. He knew what he was doing. If you need your passport photo fast and compliant, I highly recommend this place. I also recommend you call first to set up a time before you go. Good luck!”

She was patient, helpful, and ensured my daughter felt beautiful and confident in her selection. “Lara was an absolute pleasure to work with! I came to Lara after being referred over by a friend and am so happy that I trusted her with my dress. In addition to doing your usual wedding dress alterations, she made me two custom sleeves (a tulle puff sleeve and an off-the-shoulder sleeve using the original lacing from the dress) to switch out from ceremony to reception. I unfortunately lost the off-the-shoulder sleeve (through no fault of Lara) during transport on the day of the wedding and was so bummed I never got to wear it but absolutely loved the puff-sleeve. She was so patient with me in our fitting sessions as well, and was able to squeeze in a last minute session as I was still losing weight close to the wedding. Pricing was also great and worked with our budget. Overall, I would definitely recommend Folklore Dress Studio if you need wedding dress alterations, custom pieces, or even a custom wedding dress. She was always so sweet, addressed all of my dress concerns, and I never felt rushed during our sessions. Thank you Lara!!”

“My favorite seamstress/tailor to go to! I've been stopping in for a few years now. I'm 5'2 and always having to get my pants and coats altered to fit properly. Mary's input is always so sweet and professional. The prices are very reasonable too, especially for the great work she puts in. Not to mention the turn around time is quick.”

“The other reviews are very on par: get appointment and keep the receipt. I did not have an appointment so I had to wait two hours, but that's my own fault. In the meantime, you can browse for women and men's clothing. Helen is honest and in the zone with her work. She lets you try on dresses and will tell you her opinion on what she thinks looks good. She focuses on only two groups at a time, but does a great job since she is so concentrated. Time and cost: mine was $640 including tax, and takes 2.5 months until it arrives. She takes cash or Zelle. Then you do the fitting and wait 2 weeks for the alterations and receive the final product. You cannot haggle the price, but I argue that for the ability to fully customize and with nice fabric it's hard to beat. Language: She does speak English, but converses better in Mandarin. My family speaks Cantonese so it was harder to understand, but not too difficult. Size: I would say I'm a large in Chinese sizing but a medium in America. Many of the qipaos don't fit me here so if you're bigger than a medium it'll be harder to try on samples. She gave me a gift at the end for my wedding which was very sweet of her and gave many apologies for the wait. Summary: You could order online for a bit less on price, but you're sacrificing the customizing and ability to try different styles on. As long as you make an appointment and have some time before the event you're getting the dress for it's worth it!”
“I had a great experience here. The ladies were very friendly and were able to do alterations for my dress that same day (it was a simple black dress that only needed a hem but still, most places still make you wait several days and even weeks for plain dresses). I like that the price of alterations is included and the dresses are reasonably priced to begin with. They had a pretty decent collection in store, even more options than what you see on display and of course they can order more.”

“I had a good experience despite all the bad reviews. I am really glad I didn't get the rude lady lol or I would've left with nothing. The lady that helped us was very kind and sweet and patient. I didn't need to order anything custom or get anything tailored. I walked in looking for a flower girl dress for my three-year-old and there was plenty of options to choose from. She tried on five or six dresses, and we eventually fell in love with one which we found in a couple different sizes cause we weren't sure what size to get her. She ended up fitting in a one - two.also got a pretty sparkly headband. The pricing was not bad at all. Exactly what I would expect for a formal dress for a toddler everything that we tried on was between 70 and 150. Very happy with my experience.”
