Never could get in touch with anyone after multiple calls. Voice-mail was always full until last time I tried but no return call.

This guy stole my 1982 Vanagon Westie. I took it to his shop after it broke down. I paid $3,000 in parts and labor and was held off from picking it up for a little under a year. I demanded I get the car back and he pulled a gun on me. I left and came back that same night and He left the shop with everything in the shop and the shop is no longer there. He took my van with him and other vehicles from other customers. The shop was totally gone. Another tenant is in this location now. Volkwerks guys name is Johnny Loque. (Not sure of spelling while writing this.) The van is tan and has brown interior. The guy is a scumbag and a half. Hoping the cops get him before he does this again to someone else. He has been reported to police and is wanted now. Going through the court process at the moment. If you ever come across this guy... or his workers/associates, just turn the other way. Pretty nuts...

If I could do 0 stars I would. Since one is the lowest we will do with that. Well where do I start with my experience at this shop? Well let's start off by saying when I took my car into this "shop" i was able to drive it, when I decided to take the car out of the shop due to the lies I was being told by them I was unable to drive my car out. I had to get it towed out of this shop. Initially I had yelped this shop, saw the reviews so I stayed away, my car had another issue so I decided to give this "shop" the benefit of the doubt. I mean after all, I was just taking it in to get it diagnosed. Well one week passed by until I finally got a "diagnostic." They told me the issue and costs. I then decided to research more about cost of the part "I needed." Called Central Valley Volkswagen I found out they would have charged me WAY less than this shop would! For the part that "I needed" volkswerk told me it would 141 and some change, well Volkswagen told me it would only be 65! When I found this out, I decided to question them, they gave me petty excuses and didn't even know what to say. That's when I realized I needed to take my car out, because I knew it wasn't in good hands. So my fellow yelpers please save yourself some money and just take your car to get serviced and checked to Central Valley Volkswagen. I should have listened to the past reviews. I'm just glad now my car is in good hands and won't be tampered with. It's sad to see there are these types shops and people in the world.

This is the worse excuse for a business in Modesto, CA. I had my brake worked on in April 2015, I was double charged for a 553.67 dollar transaction in May 2015, after notifying the owner of the mistake, it took him a week to notify me that he needed proof. After providing him with the documentation, two additional weeks went by, and Volksworks began dodging my phone calls. After three weeks I drove up from Corcoran, CA to Modesto, CA to ask for my money back on a Thursday, I said I don't have a place to stay and wait, the owner said that it was not his problem, I was told that he would give me my money back on Friday before 6pm. I checked in to a hotel and I arrived to Volksworks at 1pm, the owner said that it would be at 6pm, I said I don't have anywhere to wait, even thou they have a waiting are, it is locked and the own said from across the bay, without walking up and greeting me, fine, then wait right there, I stood up waiting for 5 hours, with not even the owner asking if I wanted a water or anything else, the owner has two dogs that are Pits, and they barked at me the entire 5 hours. I would go anywhere but here, please don't say you were not warned!!!! I gave them one star only because Yelp would not let me give them no stars at all. I am an active duty soldier and I can't even enjoy my half day of for Memorial Day Weekend, because I am stuck here waiting for my money. Last but not least, it's my daughters Birthday Today, and I am missing the party, because until I am paid the money they owe me, I can't afford the gas to travel l 127miles back home. Also view the comments that are unrecommended, if you need more confirmations to take your business elsewhere

This place ripped me off, big-time. Because I liked them, I'm disinclined to think they did it deliberately; rather, that their incompetence and hubris combined with my mechanical ignorance and naiveté to create a disaster. Here is the complaint I sent to the Better Business Bureau: "I took my VW Bus in for diagnosis of a problem which kept the engine from running properly. I explained the symptoms and asked them to try to determine what was wrong and what it would cost to fix. They told me they had found and fixed the problem and charged me $223.63 on 5/7/14. I test drove the vehicle for a couple miles and it seemed to run fine, so I paid the bill. They then said the vehicle needed a "complete major tune-up" and oil change (which sounded reasonable as it had been sitting for about three years), so I authorized the work. They subsequently said I needed a new battery, new double relay, new front brake pads, new rear brake shoes, a new fuel injection hose (for which the fuel tank had to be emptied and dropped), and various other small parts. When they said it was ready (on 5/24/14), I paid the new bill. When I started to drive home from their shop the engine exhibited the same problem that I had originally asked them to diagnose, and which they said they had fixed. In total, I paid them $1809.51 and received my vehicle in the same condition as it was before any work was done. In addition, the side cargo door worked properly when they got the bus. Now the door won't close completely and can't be locked. Since I have no money to try to get the vehicle fixed elsewhere, I was forced to sell it. The person who bought it drove it first. The problem with the engine was immediately apparent to him, and I was obliged to sell it cheap. I would accept a refund of $1000.00. That would allow me to finish paying back the money my mother gave me to have the car worked on." Note that I didn't ask for a complete refund. The BBB has mailed the complaint twice to the business (and called them), asking for a response. So far there has been no reply. Make of that what you will, and be very careful if you go to this shop. If you do, hopefully your experience will be better than mine

I have had mixed experiences with this store. I have only taken my car to Volkswerk over the last 3 years, besides having the dealer turn off an airbag light. At first the service was good and the repairs appeared to be necessary, but he was unable to diagnose nor was he aware of an issue with 2004 Beetle's and their amplifier shortage, which the dealer told me that was a big issue with these cars, which he actually never did fix and caused me to have to replace about 2500 in parts that could have been prevented. He then replaced a hose associated with the 0 2 line and within a month I had another issue for the same sensor code. I took it back to him and had him look at the car. Instead of taking responsibility for a mistake that he made, he accused me of taking the car elsewhere and that he put numerous hours in on the car and gave me a handwritten letter that I would have to pay for any unwarranted work on the vehicle. Talk about unprofessional and rude. Again I had only taken the car to him for the last 3 years, so someone is not fully focusing on the task at hand and completing the job properly. I would recommend him for small jobs on the car, such as an oil change, but take your car elsewhere if there is an electrical or major issue with the issue with it or if you need you 0 2 sensor replace. I don't expect something for nothing and if a person is doing new work on the car I expect to pay for it, but to have the same error code pop up within 1 month of it being fixed the normal person would assume it was not fixed properly. I also don't expect to be gouged, which it would have cost much less to just take it to the dealer.

If there was a category worse than "Poor-Fair" I'd use it. How bout' "Rip-Offs" or "Scammers" or "On-Drugs"? Please take the advice of these reviews and stay away from these lying jokers. They have no business naming themselves "Volkswerk" because they don't know jack about aircooled VWs . They took me for no small change $$ worth of work - a lot of it I did not ask for. They ruined a brand new motor by crushing the push-rod tubes and now of course it's leaking oil. They ran a new fuel line (that I didn't ask for) & that is also now leaking. My Ghia was there for almost two months! They lost my $150 60's license plate and all my warranty paperwork for the engine. Again - do yourself a favor and find a REAL VW shop unless you want to deal with small claims like am!

If I could give them a minus score I would!!! I've experienced everything written in the other reviews. Go to Central Valley Automotive, tell them what you've seen on these reviews and they will take care of you. RUN!!!
