The lobby makes it seem like it's a really nice hotel, but after the lobby, beware. The rooms smelled, the bathrooms were chipping paint, and front desk staff are not welcoming. The Valet guys are really nice, and the pool is decent. The spa is small, but really hot, so that's a plus. Pillows are a little bit thicker than a sheet of paper, so bring your own. The beds are about as comfortable as a park bench.

This stay wasn't as good as my First stay you could literally hear and see the window move as the wind would blow it was actually kinda scary and not only that you could hear ever little thing from outside do to the window not being put in right !

THIS IS A HORRIBLE HOTEL WITH RUDE, UNFRIENDLY, UNHELPFUL STAFF AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. AN UNCOMFORTABLE STAY, DIRTY & BROKEN ROOMS AND A HOLE IN THE WINDOW!!!!!!!!The hotel messed up my reservation but the staff was very rude and didn't seem to want to listen to me or help. I had pre-paid and booked 2 nights, but when I arrived to check in, they said my reservation was only for one night and started the next day. I showed them confirmation so they changed my booking.I thought everything was fine, but they messed up THAT too. I got an email in the middle of the night saying my check out was after one night. Once again I showed them my reservation and receipt and they said there's nothing they can do. They were EXTREMELY rude. They also denied that my reservation had been changed the night before. They wouldn't listen to me at all or let me finish sentences. I asked to speak to a manager but they said "I don't know when they'll be here."I had to leave for some morning plans and I said, well, I'm not going to be back to speak to the manager "whenever they're here" before your check out time, so I expect not to be charged or forced out of the room. Once again, they refused to help and said there's nothing they can do.ALL THE STAFF there are horrible. Rude, no patience and don't listen.Besides the reservation issues, the night I spent there was awful because there was a super loud party in the room next door until 4am but the staff refused to do anything about it so I wasn't even able to sleep all night. Or if the staff did do something about it, they didn't check to see if the guests stopped the noise. The room was dirty, including the mini-fridge. It wasn't cooling at all and it made my containers & fruit sticky & moldy when I took them out of the fridge the next morning! Half the outlets in the room didn't work and the phone didn't work either so I was unable to call for room service. To add to all this, there was a HOLE IN THE WINDOW!!! The weather was VERY cold and rainy and water was seeping in so the carpet around the window was moist and moldy. The ONLY redeeming quality is that the room was nice and big and the bed was comfortable.I have been traveling for decades, but I have NEVER experienced something like this. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWFUL HOTEL.

Super loud train horn and traffic wakes you up at night since the windows are paper thin. Overnight front desk staff is very done with their job and it shows in their attitude.

If you are staying in Modesto, you probably want to stay at this hotel. It’s near downtown, walking distance to wedding venues and more. That said, our experience was less then stellar:- Baseboards in rooms are dirty and clearly never cleaned- They nickel and dime you for everything, including water and parking. Hilton honors members do not get water for free unless they are a higher tier, so read the fine print on the bottles!- Not the hotels’ fault, but the train runs right by at all hours of the night. It’s loud and it woke a lot of our group up.Overall, if you are staying in Modesto this is probably your best option, but be aware of these caveats ahead of time.

I've stayed here twice, it's a nice hotel on the inside, rooms are clean, neve had issues with the actual room. Tvs always work, water is hot, and there is good pressure. Complimentary water bottles for silver, gold, and diamond members. Warm chocolate chip cookies upon check-in. ?My biggest complaint is with the location, there isn't an on-site parking lot u less you valet. The parking garage is across the street, so if you are traveling alone and have bags, you have to cross the street with your bags. Each time I have come it's raining, so I have to take my things and wait to cross the street in the rain. It's very inconvenient. There is also a train that passes pretty frequently right near the hotel, I am a light sleeper, so at night, I was woken up by the train horn several times, and it is LOUD.Staff is nice, the restaurant on site is good, I hope for more vegan options in the future but there is enough to work with, room service is great also. There are restaurants, theaters, and coffee shops nearby within walking distance if it's not raining.

The staff here was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the lounge area was beyond expectations. The gym had a nice selection of exercise equipment, and the pool is semi-heated. The reason why 4 stars instead of 5 is because our room was not stocked with shampoo, the door to the bathroom was dirty, and there was a hairnet left in the bathroom. The windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned, ever. Location is great with many food and bar options.

For starters I have to say. For Modesto being such a rural little city. This hotel made our visit to this city a pleasure. We had a very comfortable, clean stay for a few days. Valet is recommended if you don't mind paying a little extra. We were pleasantly surprised with the bar/ restaurant downstairs near the lobby. The entire place is modern and up to date. We ordered some margaritas, and lemon drops for drinks. The bartender made these delicious and in my opinion was an experienced mixologist. To start, we had the cesar salad which was fresh and tasty. For dinner we had the salmon which came on a bed of rice with veggies, and the chicken breast plate which came with a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. As mentioned, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of our meal. 2 thumbs up there. As for the room, the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. Sheets were clean so there were absolutely no issues there for us. One thing to keep in mind is the hotels location. It's near the train tracks, so you may be awoken by it once or twice. For us, we only noticed it the first night. After that, we slept through it no problem. The comfortable bed made sleeping through any noise a breeze. All in all, it was a nice stay.

The worst place I have ever stayed. The sheets had bugs in them or blood (see picture attached). The hallways also smell bad. Debbie is the rudest employee I've ever encountered. Easily the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

The team had a "can-do" attitude, which I appreciated. Onside restaurant had a decent menu with good flavor options.Wasn't crazy about how much DoubleTree charges for everything considered the rooms were mediocre at best. $2.00 for a bottle of water? And like not even fancy water, it was the nestle brand. A whole 24 pack is like $5.00. Totally a ripoff to the customer. Plus there's no free parking nearby. The rooms: Bathroom was clean, very pleased. Bed was clean. Carpets were gross - bring a good flip flop/ shower shoe. The lounge type chair in the room was also on the used/ gross side too. Didn't need to put a towel down to sit, but def wouldn't sit on it while in my sleep clothes.Overall, it was pricey for what it was - unimpressive, dated rooms. The service was great and they have the DoubleTree signature cookies. Bottom line however - good in a pinch or on work travel. Garbage otherwise.Rooms: Need updating in bathroom, carpets, and furniture (mainly the loungy chair in the room).

Hotel is good but the fancy electronics are a disaster. My key card died three times in two days, the phone key only worked for my room about half the time, and NEVER for the elevators. I love tech but I was wishing the Doubletree would just give me an old brass key and leave me alone.

Compared to modern systems this one is a decade behind at least. The food was good but only had an appetizer. The worst part was hearing the train constantly sound it's horn. Getting extra towels was impossible but otherwise service was good. The price was right for a suite.
