Manager is super Rude! And this place will not give you a refund only store credit and only gives you 2 days for a 100% store credit which is ridiculous most places are 14-30days for cash refund.

Most of the employees are very friendly, but it's hard to get any help from them. You have to chase them down and they take their time helping you. Sometimes it takes a while for them to even notice you when you're right in front of them waving them down. I've stood in line and they served multiple people behind me. It's pretty common. While they have a wide range of animals, a lot of the fish end up sick or dying within a day, and they are left in the tank for hours to days. The owner is... a lot, but he really puts all his energy into running that store and pushes the employees to participate in the work. He did drop a fish I was buying in front of me...

Great place to get what your pet needs. Very helpful staff. They are even willing to try to find items they don't have on their shelves for you

Used to really love this place. But, the reptile section looks more like a prison or blackmarket now. No Soil, No plants, no hiding spots, no WATER, just papertowels. The animals look more dead then alive. Evidently the work of one of the Carter family. The store's one saving grace is the staff. I usually work with Tyler Clark or Robby, but also Jeremy, Evelyn, and Rob. But, without a doubt any staff will be fair, patient and intelligent.

When I started buying the dog food in the store( Stella and Chewy's- Chicken Patty- Size Large Bag) they told me that , if I reached to 12 purchases I will have a one bag free on my 13 purchased ( try look at it in their websites). So, I was enrolled they took my information like Email and phone number, etc. But unfortunately when I reached to that 12 bags purchases they don't honor my loyalty rewards because I was not enrolled with them so many excuses and reasons, I was wondering why they asking my phone number when I made a purchases when in fact it doesn't make sense to the rewards, and when I tried many times to talked to the manager the employees kept saying he is not here (with rude gesture from employee because they are lying) until I directly looking for the manager I talked to him(which also rude& sarcastic) about it but again unfortunately he could not do anything about it, another BS. so, I asked him how about my history of purchases, he said its gone, another BS. because all knew that nowadays we live in digital memory and database.The best he can to is to start over all over again. WOW! bravo to that kind customer service. Actually, is not worth it on my time but they deceived people which made me feel bad like lying to the people, is this the best way for good reputation to the company, and their loyal customers.

Fish keepers beware. I went to the Stockton location after having used the Modesto location before and their aquatics department was always very small.On Thursday 3/2/23, my husband and I made the drive to the Stockton store to check out their aquatics. We ended up making a purchase of a few freshwater fish, including Angelfish, and we're on our way. Angelfish are semi territorial fish and do have the ability to get along in community tanks.However after 24 hours of observation, one of the new angels was being aggressive to everything in the tank. We added more covering, plants etc and it didn't remedy. So, we realized we didn't have a receipt when we left so I called them to explain. This is where it gets great.I did not catch the name of the woman who answered the phone but I think it was Kelly, she needs to be fired immediately. She is quite frankly the rudest person I have ever dealt with in LPS. (Local Pet Stores). I explained the situation to her. She immediately cuts me off the say, that's not their fault the fish is aggressive and they don't do refunds. Yeah, cool, why not listen to me.First of all, how about an apology for the lack of getting a receipt for a store that's over 45 min drive from me. How about an apology for the current situation. Oh that's right, as she kindly put it, "not their fault". I told her she was being absolutely belligerent and ugly. How can you treat a customer hostile from the jump? Wow. "You can donate the fish back but you won't get your money". How ugly can you be? Ive surrendered fish to your Modesto store, FOR FREE, that you got a quick profit from I know for fact, so don't be so god damn rude.So I called the Modesto location because she tried to call too and save face. The Modesto location agreed to do some type of exchange since they seem to have half a mind. They also apologized for this woman's disgusting behavior and didn't seem to be shocked. Do you guys get these calls often? Your comments section shows you do.So thank you Robert at the Modesto location for saving this FINAL transaction as I will NEVER USE CARTERS AGAIN.

First visit, the staff is friendly & very helpful!! Tyler helped me get set up with my new beta fish (Plakat Blue Rim Male), new tank, food, plants, he was a wealth of knowledge, and you can tell he loves what he does!!!! I love a place where your questions are answered and respected! Would recommend 100% & now I won’t go anywhere else!! Support local, support mom & pop stores!

They may be small, but they have everything we need for our dogs, cats, chickens, and fish. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
