My dog recently got TPLO surgery from Dr. Chad and everything went perfectly. Just a few months later my dog is 100% and back to playing ball again. Can't say enough about Beckwith, the staff and Dr's are always friendly and personable with us and are dogs. The treatment, prices and availability are the best around. If you can get in here as a new client you will be blessed

I love this veterinarian hospital! The staff is always kind and attentive. Dr. Mike and Dr. Chad take excellent care of my dogs. They are honest and always explain what they are doing. I never feel rushed. I won't take my dogs to anyone else. I highly recommend them.

My dog had a serious life-threatening illness. Dr. O'Brian Sr. was great, hands down. I love when a Dr. takes the time to thoroughly explain every detail of what's wrong, the treatment options, and how likely our chances are for recovery. So much better than some of our human Dr.s by far. He is very compassionate and understands that with a lot of people, our pets are like one of our family members. I've been going to him for the past 30 yrs. Now it's father and son working there. I haven't had the pleasure of having O'Brien Jr. care for any of my pets but everyone I've spoken to that has had him always said that he was good, a chip off the old block, following in his father's footsteps, no complaints. That's good because we need more vets like these 2

They always make you feel like they care about your pet as much as you do. For the last 13 years, all my pets have been seen there. When I had to pit down my service dog, they did their best to make it less traumatic for me. Your pets deserve their quality care.

Dr. Mike, Dr. Chad O’Brien, I’ve never seen more compassionate or educated, more informed doctors. Your experience, your education, the care, your knowledge, that you bring to my animals well-being are unsurpassed. I’ve honestly never seen better doctors. Kudos to your dedication to your compassion, to your profession.

I really can’t give a review of service because it’s impossible to ever get an appointment. They are not taking new patients because they are too busy. The person who answered the phone said they don’t have any idea when they will take new patients. The last time they took a new patient was 3 months ago. Their regular patients can’t get an appointment for 2 weeks or more. There is no waiting list you can get on to become a prospective patient/client. When I suggested that maybe it would be a good idea if the physicians were encouraged to keep a waiting list, I was cut off with a curt “oh no, they’re not going to do that!”So should you call every week to ask if there’s any new openings? Every day? Three times a day?

Beckwith Animal Hospital has provided me with peace of mind and my fur baby with exceptional care. I worked with Dr Chad O'Brien after being referred to BVA by a friend who had him Perform TPLO surgery on their dog. I originally received a diagnosis and quote from Sage Animal Hospital in Dublin, as I live in the Bay Area. They quoted me nearly $8,000. When I went to Beckwith for a 2nd opinion and quote, they quoted me $3,000-$3,500...same surgery (TPLO) but they also included laser therapy treatments on her post-op visits to speed along healing which I felt was a nice "bonus". My final bill ended up being slightly above $3,200. They do offer financing through Care Credit as well. I dropped off my dog for her surgery at 6.5 months pregnant, during the COVID-19 Outbreak and being laid off from my job (due to the pandemic's effect on my industry). It was the worst timing for me to be going through all of these things at once. The staff did a wonderful job providing me with information and setting my expectations for a long road to recovery. My dog is healing wonderfully at first; at day-6 post-op she showed signs of digression and stopped bearing weight on her "new" leg--after calling and speaking with Dr O'Brien, he booked me an appt for the next day where they x-rayed to rule out any issues with the implant/screws, with no extra charges--diagnosis was soreness and that I shouldn't be concerned and just continue to drastically limit her activity. So I overreacted--but pregnancy hormones + too much free time on my hands, I was bound to jump to conclusions. Dr O'Brien completely put my mind at ease! Not only that, but they didn't even make me go into the hospital to limit my exposure--came out to my car to grab my dog, and then brought her back out to me to discuss results in open-air. Above and beyond! Throughout the entire process, from initially booking my consultation through final follow up appointment, the staff has been very helpful and courteous. They've called to check in on how my dog was doing on multiple occasions and are prompt with reminders for upcoming appointments, etc. Anytime I had questions, I was able to reach somebody the same-day with clear and concise answers. At first I was hesitant to elect to book my dogs TPLO surgery at Beckwith. The doctors aren't "board certified surgeons" like at Sage so they don't have all the fancy letters after their names. But after my experience there, the results I have seen, and the service and follow up I have gotten, I will say it is 100% worth the drive from the Bay Area to Modesto to not only save thousands of dollars, but receive exceptional care for my fur baby. Thank you!!

I want to share my experience with this vet. I was very happy with the medical treatment my animals received. The first time I came to this vet was because of an emergency long before COVID the staff were quick, knowledgeable, and helpful IN PERSON.I thought that the facility and staff could accommodate emergency services and at the time they did. But for whatever reason... COVID or perhaps losing staff this facility cannot accommodate emergencies now.Our issues started with clerical filling. Many times me and my partner have asked the office staff to fix our file, so that either of us could make an appointment, pay, etc. The office staff did not fix this issue and never explained how we could help them fix their mistake. The file issue led to office staff never helping my partner when he calls, claiming they can’t find the file. His frustrations were ignored multiple times, he has been hung up on and his appointments cancelled because office staff overbooked. Our second issue is that when we first started at this vet it was operating with an emergency vet. When our pet is in need of being seen for something that is not a scheduled check up, we need to be able to bring them in in a timely fashion, one week or two weeks. Not a month or two.Instead of understanding our frustrations, apologizing, or fixing their clerical issues and instead of calling my partner directly the office staff sent a letter breaking up with us signed with an unreadable signature.Terminating us as customers is within their right to do and understandable but so is our need for actual customer service not rude staff with perfected customer service voices. We also don’t need office staff making file notes about our frustration instead of actually working on a solution.A personal call from the veterinarian only lead to a one sided conversation where no understanding was given or gained. Why should the veterinarian care about how office staff treat hardworking customers when they get paid no matter what. And why should the veterinarian treat us well we don’t bring enough money in for him to care.

Please please don't take your pet here if you "love"your pet and don't want to waste your time. The management here is UNPROFESSIONAL and super misleading. We are sad to say we saw their management's true colors. Supposedly chooses to deny your services to your pet even after they give you misinformation and you call them out on it and they choose to deny your services disrespectfully and taking away your rights to seeking wellness for your beloved pet. WARNING DUE NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. If you even still are receiving services here please find an alternative and don't wait until it happens to you, you will regret it.

I'm sure they're great, but they haven't taken any new patients in forever. Call another vet.

I have been amazed at how thoughtful, caring, and the biggest hearts this establishment has. They go the extra mile for any pet. They teach you things to do at home whereas most places will to it and charge you a arm and a leg. I have the most respect for these people .. thank you for your all for your never ending Love for these animals?❤️?
