We were recommended to transfer here from Banfield Vet. After being here for about 5-6 years, I do not trust them with our dog because we believe they overcharge us and if we ask to see what we're being charged for, they don't show us and give us a vague explanation of everything being done on our dog.

Great staff, excellent doctor! As first time pet owners we were nervous about every little thing our pet would do and the staff here helped us with full patience and guidance. Highly recommend them.

They never return calls back (I tried for a few months) for a special request regarding a handicapped neighbor who needs their cats nails trimmed. (Only blocks from their business). They could have just said no. Not community friendly. They need to think outside of the box.

I cannot say enough good things about this place - thank you all so much, especially Dr. Estrada for saving my cat Red. She was lethargic, her back legs weren't working well, she was just in bad shape and she's only 5 months old. We got a last minute emergency appointment here (it was a Sunday and they were the only place open), but honestly -i'm going to Tama moving forward for my cats. Dr. Estrada explained everything thuroughly with what they were doing to help Red - she had to keep her for maybe 6 hours (?) to help her fever go down and Dr. Estrada called me personally EVERY HOUR to update me. after I took Red home, they called everyday for the next few days just to check on her, I thought that was so nice and it's not typical to receive that kind of service in my opinion. overall, id trust Tama Vet with any of my cats. Thank you all again for taking care of Red as if she were your own cat!

Parking lot is extremely small. Maybe 10 spaces.

While the vets here are capable and competent they are extremely difficult to get in touch with. I often feel like I am not getting questions answered. This office is very overcrowded and often has a long line to check in. Their parking lot also lacks enough spaces for customers. There have been incidents where they forgot to call the correct number to pick up my pet or forgot to call me when my pet was ready to pick up. They have also forgotten to give me the correct amount of meds, which meant I had to go in to the office a second time and wait 30 minutes so that I could get the meds.Update: I dropped the stars because the office lies about leaving voicemails and the vet won’t contact me to discuss results. They take days to allow you to speak to a vet. Days to fill a prescription. They never let you in the room with the vet. They always put you on the backburner because an emergency is happening. They are far more expensive than many other vets in the area. They also recommend MANY procedures that are extremely unnecessary and invasive. After showing my lab results to 2 second opinions that believed the vet was recommending unnecessary procedure, I have lost complete faith in this office. They also called the wrong number when my pet was hospitalized and ready for pickup causing him to be alone in the holding room for more hours than necessary.

Dr. Tama is amazing! I've only been here twice and he's been helpful each time. Definitely will become a regular here. He's informative and thorough.

The staff here are very friendly and the cat that they have here is sooo cute. This place is hard to find sometimes due to the location of where it's at but it's really convenient that we have a pet hospital because it's the closest one to me. There prices can be very steep especially if you don't have pet insurance. The staff also are really caring and nice when dealing with your furry pals!

Tama vet is extremely unhelpful and will not actually speak to customers. They recommend unnecessary procedures and are impossible to get a hold of. They always have a 20 minute line just to get checked in. They are extremely expensive and the care is horrible. They recommended a CT scan on my young puppy for a mild injury and a second look said that this was completely unnecessary. They just want to take your money but don't even have enough time to schedule you in for an appointment. They also charged me hundreds for a x ray and no one will even answer the phone to discuss the results. No one at this vet cares about your pet. It is clear they are under staffed and over booked. However, it is hard to feel sympathy for an office that takes in so much money. I will emphasize: get a second review. TAMA VET IS RECOMMENDING UNNECESSARY SURGERIES AND PROCEDURES. Get a second opinion before giving them money. Furthermore, their neuter procedure is nearly a thousand dollars for a dog. I would recommend going somewhere else Finally, they have forgotten to call me when my cat was ready to be picked up after going under . Who in their right mind simply forgets that an animal should go home after being forced to stay in a facility when its owners are ready and willing to pick it up. They do not let you in the examination room and animals are constantly crying in the back

This is one of my BIGGEST Thank-you's ever to you fellow yelpers. I've found my new go-to vet. I've only had 2 visits, but Tama is AWESOME. The staff work well together, have provided exceptional communication to me and know their stuff. I have two kitties that have been with me for a long time now - one senior cat I've had for 18 yrs and one middle-aged cat I've had for 12 years. I've brought each of them to Tama in the last 3 months for different issues. In both cases, my cats and I were treated with compassion, professionalism, and courtesy. Details of treatment and billing were explained thoroughly before any treatment was agreed on. I truly appreciate this. What else I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate (can't say this enough) is that Tama is open SEVEN days a week. Do you know what a big deal that is?? It's huge. Thank-you Tama. You've given me some peace of mind for one of the most important resources in our community. You ROCK.

I'm so glad that I've found a reliable, trustworthy, and overall great vet for my dog Kona (2.5 years old). They treat her so well and I am always comfortable leaving Kona in their care and with their recommendations for treatment. She has been going to Tama since she was 8 weeks. Her first visit was just a meet and greet, which I appreciated, in order for her to build trust and confidence with the vet and not be scared to go in the future... I was able to come back shortly after to get her shots done. Since then, we've unfortunately had to go back to the vet multiple times for different situations, but have always felt that Kona was in safe hands. We've worked with 2 vets (Dr Dickson and Dr Moy) and both have been so caring for Kona. I also appreciate that Tama is responsive to email and we are able to just email in pictures to see if Kona needs to be seen or if we can just take care of her injuries at home. Sometimes it is hard to get on the phone with Tama as their phones are always ringing, but the long wait times have always been worth it to be at this vet hospital!

Very disappointed!!I have been taking my dog to Tama for a while now. The doctors had always been professional and helpful. This morning, I got an email from chewy saying the vet denied the refill on a medication so I followed up by calling the office. The explanation was: ”it’s time to bring your dog in for a heart worm test and that is required by law every year.” I was like Okay, but skeptical about the reason. So, I googled if this is a requirement by law, but as I expected ”NO”. The law does not require it.I reached out to the office again and explained my findings and another person pick up and agree on me on not required by law since I told her I used google and chat GPT. Then she quickly saying it is part of their policy.I said, ”these policies are unreasonable, because I am not going to take my dog in unless he is sick.”Or at least you can explain a little better in the beginning saying why we need to do a test on him due to the risk of the medication. That’s a better way of selling a product in my opinion. Instead, I was told “these test are for preventative (no explanation why that is)” then she continues “you are free to go to another vet and most likely they are going to ask you to do the same. Unless you do the test, we can not give your dog a refill.”As a patient, we deserve the right to understand at least. If we ask a question, instead of being offended, take the time to explain why. Maybe all we are looking for is an answer that could help us understand better. All in all, the lack of training of the staff was the biggest issue. Your staff need to know what is the difference between a law and a policy. As a business owner and a local here myself, I can understand it is not a big deal for a business that is very busy like Tama hospital to lose one customer. However, when it comes to long lasting business relationships with pet owners and the community, a good humble business attitude is a must.Lee

My recent visit to Tama Vet Clinic was a complete disaster. The vet prescribed Hydromorphone for our dog's minor tail injury without informing us clearly what what this drug is, how strong it is and it's basically even much stronger than morphine. Our poor dog was completely out of her mind for six hours, an unnecessary ordeal caused by the clinic's recklessness. A milder painkiller would have sufficed. We won't be returning to Tama Vet Clinic, and I strongly recommend others to avoid it as well.
