I wish I can give a zero star review for their services if Yelp allows. We adopted a kitten from HSSV lately and this clinic is supposedly to provide free medical examination within 5 days of adoption and follow-up services within 14-days if the animal has diarrhea and vomiting. Unfortunately my kitten falls within this category. Their online booking is not responsive at all and to make an appointment via phone takes long holding. When I finally connected with the front-desk lady responding to the call, she said they don't have appointment but we can do emergency visit which we will pay out of pocket. When I asked how to determine whether or not this should be emergency, she replied as they cannot provide advice, but insisting this is an emergency visit.... well I guess they are mainly profit driven and just trying to get off the hook from their obligations with HSSV.

So let's start off and say EVERYTIME I call.... They always ask to put me on a hold..... is it really busy there 24/7 cause when I'm there in office there's absolutely no one ( customers), they're either on there computer or phone or just talking to each other. Sometimes I have a 3 minute little question. And I was waiting for over 30mins!!!!!! Ugh. Also one of the front desk lady is REALLY rude...

This review is based of my last interaction with Dr Nakagawa. I have been a client at parktown for the last 12 years. Today was my last day bringing my pet to this clinic. I brought my pet in for a flea exam and had some other concerns that I wanted Dr Goulart to examine. After Dr Goulart conducted the examination I walked away with a $680 bill for xrays, consultation's and eye examination, medications. Fast forward 3 days after my visit I notice the eye ointment that I used on my pet caused some sort of irritation in his left eye so I called back in to ask if it had something to do with the meds that were given. I was immediately given a drop off appointment for the next day to see Dr Nakagawa. This is where my experience was soured and severed with this clinic. I received a phone call from Dr Nakagawa saying didn't notice anything that I had mentioned with my pets eye she said it could be due to the adrenaline he was experience from being at the vet. She also suggested that I needed an additional eye test one that I already paid for from my last visit 3 days prior. I asked if there was a way that the charge for the test be comped since his eye was not this way prior to me applying the meds prescribed. The Dr then goes on this tangent about how she will be unable to pay her employees by me asking for a free test which was $33. She failed to display any empathy or care towards my pet. Her communication style comes off rude and condescending. She lacked professionalism, empathy, and most of all compassion. I picked up my pet was charged and additional $52 and that will be the last time I will be a client at parktown. If you want to continue service with Parktown I suggest requesting Dr Thur or Dr Amy Goulart.

I'm so grateful for the staff at Parktown they are so kind and helpful. I always feel confident that my pet is in great care here, and most important of all SAFE! It's great to have found a clinic with staff I trust. The people there genuinely care for the animals they treat as well as their owners. I took my cat in because she started to limp. They were very informative and gave me the information I needed to make the decision for her. She had her (very intense) surgery. Her follow up appointments were good, there was a bit of a wait but I think my human doctor wait times are worse lol. Overall great service from the vets and the staff. P.s. my cat is not the nicest when going to the vet but they did so good with her.

June 23rd my dog woke up with an acute oral abscess. I called my regular vet who unfortunately was fully booked for the week. So, I called around and Parktown said they could get her in same day. We jumped at the opportunity and went in immediately. The initial estimate was $1100-1600, we ended up spending $2200+. Upon pick up they informed us they had left 4 teeth, her two lower canines, molar 309 and premolar 406. Then Nakagawa informed us that our beloved 7 year old dog had either cancer or was in severe renal failure. She jumped to this conclusion due to elevated calcium and SDMA. She also said our dog was positive for Erhlichia and anaplasmosis, two tick born illnesses in our indoor only bed bug. There was no mentioning of treating these tick borne illnesses(although they lied in their notes and said otherwise). She then focused on we needed to get a specialist radiologist in to do a renal scan and additional labs, another couple grand($$$) in further workup. We opted to take her home and reached out to our regular vet. They recommended we treat the tick borne illnesses immediately, as that would be the most logical next step. I called Parktown and requested doxycycline and was given the run around. After I hung up with them I was frustrated in the quality of their service and care, so I reached out to my regular vet who had us come in. He prescribed the doxycycline and informed us she had 4 and a HALF teeth, apparently they left our girl a rotten parting gift that was already abscessing - mind you they charged us for this extraction. We returned to our regular vet for repeat labwork 2 weeks post doxycycline and magically she is perfectly fine. No cancer, no renal failure, no tick borne illness, she's a healthy 7 year old. According to my vet there must have been a mix up in their lab, which I don't doubt. Tick born illness doesn't disappear, your pet will test positive for a very long time after exposure(like Lyme's disease) yet they're saying "it could happen." So, apparently I'm to believe that doxycycline cures cancer, renal disease and eradicates tick borne illnesses? Justifiably frustrated, I called and requested Nakagawa call me back. She did and told me she'd have management call me back when I stated that I wanted a refund on the bloodwork($300 panel). Amy called me back days later and said a refund on the messed up bloodwork wasn't warranted. Honestly, save yourself the senseless heartache, money, frustration and sub-par veterinary care/skills, skip this place, they'll uncharge you and leave your beloved fur baby in pain. **Definitely followed someone else's advice from a review left not too long ago and made sure to get all medical records before posting a review, since they like to attach reviews to them even though they're in no way relevant to a patient's medical history. How unbelievabley unprofessional!

Been going to this place for a couple years. We would come from Hayward/Fremont because we liked the service here. Recently it's been going down hill. Literally waited 3 weeks for an appointment even though my dogs needed their vaccines and allergy shot we patiently waited. First off, front desk is horrible. We got to our appointment and the girl at the front desk said she left me a voicemail which btw she lied because I never got it saying they had to cancel our appointment. What a joke. We drove all the way there just to be turned away. I ask for my documents so I can be seen somewhere else and she says they need a Dr's. approval and it'll take 24-48 hours for us to receive them lol. I've NEVER had to wait that long. If you like horrible customer service and "hectic" situations as the front desk girl says you've found the right place.

We keep coming back to this clinic because of the kind, helpful veterinarians but the front desk/customer service is the worse! The few times that I called to make appointments or to fix their errors, I've been ON HOLD for over 20 minutes each time resulting in me just hanging up on them. We've been going here for years but it disappoint every time. And they can never get our dogs' names! If you want rude customer services and expensive charges, this is the place for you

My wife and I are new cat owners and took our two new kittens for their (and our) first visit to this vet based on a friend's recommendation. The office didn't seem to be very well-organized, communicative, or transparent. From the time we got to the front desk to check in for our appointment to the time we left with our kittens, our first visit with the vet had taken 2.5 hours. When we were in the exam room, we were told by the tech to wait for the vet. In the meantime, the tech gave us a flyer with a feline pediatric program or wellness package that was priced at $445 and stating "Actual value is over $670" with no explanation in any detail why or how this is worth $445 or $670 or when/how we'd purchase this package. Maybe if there was some itemized breakdown showing what was included or discounted over the a la carte costs I would have understood what value there was in this package. Several minutes later, the tech comes back basically saying, "Oh. The vet wants you to actually decide if you want to purchase the package before seeing your kittens." We declined since it seemed they wanted us to make a pretty quick decision to drop $445 on each of our kittens on our first visit before being better-informed on what our kittens actually need and how much it would cost normally. At worst, this seemed shady, and at best, this was just really poor transparency on pricing compared to other vets (that we later looked up) who post their pricing and policies on their websites. The vet and tech seemed to handle our kittens very well during their examinations and answered our questions we had at the time. The vet explained they would need about 20 minutes per kitten to administer their blood tests and first vaccinations, so we decided to wait in the car. About an hour later, we receive a call from the vet saying that their test came back positive for FIV (basically "feline HIV/AIDS") and that they recommend sending out a blood sample to have them tested for FIV at a cost of $430. This was very alarming. We said we were just outside in the car and that we needed a few minutes to decide whether we'd like to go forward with the test. The vet said that was fine and to let the front desk know if we would like to go forward with it. Minutes later, we go inside. The front desk just seemed to look at me and ignore me when it's pretty clear I had been standing there for about 10 minutes. I would have liked some simple acknowledge and set some basic expectations on how long to wait, what to do, etc. I tell the front desk person that we'd like to check out, and I told her that we'd like to decline doing the FIV test at this time. Maybe the instructions from the vet weren't communicated to the front desk, but she had already started ringing me up for a total of over $900 for the visit. I asked about the FIV test, and she said they already took the blood samples and, initially, made it seem like it wasn't a charge that could be cancelled. This just didn't sit right with me. It felt like I did not consent to the test/sample, and they had defaulted to doing it anyway. She ended up taking the charge for the FIV test off, so I was left with a $530 bill instead. It included, and I was charged for, two fecal test kits when the vet and I agreed on just having one. I should have looked over the receipt more thoroughly, but there was supposed to be a $5 discount for the second kitten's exam, but that wasn't applied. Front desk person gave me some explanation for the second fecal test, but at that point, it had already been 2.5 hours of generally not feeling good about our experience and just wanted to bring our kittens home.

I took my precious golden Beckham to Parktown Veterinary Clinic, after a friend recommended it. My poor pup got ill after a beach day. I'm assuming it was something he had ate and grew concern after multiple day of diarrhea. Let me tell you, this is the place to take your little fur baby. Overall great experience! The staff were wonderful and very attentive. They made sure to keep me updated on everything. I will definitely be coming back to Parktown!!

I was a first time cat mom when I brought my kitten to Parktown Vet. Clinic for her shots. I knew nothing about cats, and the lovely ladies in the front desk were able to answer all my questions/concerns. They were super attentive and friendly! I definitely feel safe bringing my Misty here!

This place use to be the best Dr long was a great vet to all my animals. I was a loyal patient for over 12 years I'd bring all my cats and dogs there as well as refer all my friends and anyone that would ask there! As of the past year or so their customer service, level of compassion had just gone downhill! It's HORRIBLE! I had 3 urgent situations with 3 of my cats and couldn't even get a call back! One was my cat Penelope who I had to put to sleep a little over a week after being seen. Dr long was off and she told Me to call should symptoms get worse or I need anything! Well I called for two day I knew something was wrong and guess what NO CALL BACK FROM ANY VET! The front desk had the audacity to tell the vets give call backs at the end of the day usually?!? Even in an urgent time Sensitive matter?? That's never been the case at least in a couple hrs for an urgent situations? It took days of my constant calling. I ended up having to take her to Sage where I had to put her to sleep However because I was a patient there for so long and Dr. long has been so great I decided to keep coming there I loved her so much. I had to find another clinic to take Mimi to when she was urinating blood not even a call back!!! I left messages for 2 days and of course took her to another clinic the first day but I was hoping to hear from Dr long who I trusted so much with my pets, That's inexcusable! I wrote such tab reviews about Dr long and Parktown in the past I work in rescue and it was so hard to find a vet your totally trust that was compassionate and thorough. I would drive from Livermore when I lived to bring my cats here that's how much I trusted this place and loved my vet. The past couple experiences have been horrible and all when I had pretty urgent matters that required a timely response. I have enough experience to know and urgent situation and when to reach out for help I also know when I need to get my animals to see a vet. I was let down all 3 times this happened here! I can only imagine what a regular patient that had not history in pet rescue and isn't very knowledgeable would go through! I cannot with a good conscious recommend this place at all anymore. ID SUGGEST FINDING ANOTHER VET CLINIC! THIS IS NOT THE SAME CARING COMPASSIONATE VETERINARY CLINIC IT ONCE WAS AND ITS ASHAME.

After being up since 5am with my dog Blue shaking his head every minute, crying, and scratching his ears till they bled, I called all the vets around my new home in Fremont HOPING someone would take my boy in.. no where could accommodate so I decided to try elsewhere and drive further. I was recommended ParkTown Vet from my old boss And decided to give them a call. Not only did they take him in on a short notice, and as a new patient... they went over pricing before hand and did not try to add any extra charges that were unnecessary (which is common to have a huge bill in the end from most vets these days) From the front staff to the doctor and the techs everyone was so nice!!!! I personally worked at a vet clinic for 3 years, and their prices were fair and not too pricey at all... seeing how I was an emergency appointment I honestly expected to take a huge hit. The doctor listened, was not pushy, and did not make me feel like they were out for my money. Everyone knows how that feels. Even tho Blue had to be sedated for his ear cleaning (I requested since he's difficult) I felt he was in good caring hands. So thank you ParkTown Veterinary for such a smooth and fast appointment. Blues ears thank you!!!!!
