Millbrae store smaller than San Mateo store, but filled to the brim with fresh fruits and veggies, plus international goodies, chocolates, teas, cheese, jams, etc. Good place if you are in the neighborhood, parking tight during busiest times as there are retaurants, coffee shop, other businesses flanking/near Dean's.

Dean's is hardly my regular grocer for shopping, but every once in a while it's fun to switch it up and see what another ethnic shop might have in store! It was fun going through Dean's frozen section which featured many Eastern European favorites and then heading over to the jarred and canned section to find a vast assortment of pickled vegetables and canned fish. There was a sale on some sardines today, from Portugal no less so I picked up a can for lunch and paired it with some crusty bread and cheese. It brought me right back to Spain (yes, I know it's not Portugal but it's close). It was delicious and was about half the price I'd pay from any other American grocer! Know your prices friends! I also spotted a small bar of halva which I'm curious to try later. I really liked that I didn't have to commit to a large square of it. I also picked up the ingredients I had planned to use for meal prep this week. It was a little more expensive than my Asian shops but not too much so. The quality of almost everything looked really good today and there were also staff sorting through the produce and removing the ones past their prime.

I miss living in the area and going to Dean's Produce for fresh and reasonably-priced produce. They have a great selection of produce but also have some items that you typically do not find in big box grocery stores. I love to be able to support local businesses whenever I can. Dean's is located in a pretty busy part of town and sometimes, you can't find parking in front or even within a block or so. Usually, that's when I give up and come back some other time. As there are a lot of restaurants on this street, we used to always shop here after grabbing a meal at one of the local spots. It's so convenient to be able to do this. Not only do they have produce, but they have other groceries for purchase. This is the first place that I was able to buy Kinder chocolates as well as Milka chocolates. LOL. It's definitely a cool store to browse and explore. You might find an item that you never thought you needed. Yay for local businesses!

The owner is astonishing rude and disrespectful. I came in to return berries with my receipt because they gave me the worst food poisoning in my adult life. I returned to the store because of the principle that I was ill for days, not because I was hung up on getting the $2.99 back. The owner shouted at me and cussed at me calling it "bullshit" as he threw the berries on the counter. I assured him I was not lying over $2.99. He did agree to exchange the item, but he also continued to berate me in front of other customers and told me I should take it up with the FDA. I believe the health department is probably a better option since they store the produce in the hot sun out front of their store. Nevertheless, the owner's behavior was beyond unprofessional and I will not shop here ever again.

I was just getting strawberries and apparently there is a $5 dollars minimum to use credit card, as I told the cashier i don't want anything else , she rudely said " I cancel" with an attitude. Don't come here for small items or come with cash and shop here if you want bad cashier.
