I worked at The Redwoods for over 3 years. It is an excellent community of engaged seniors living there at affordable prices. Many employees have worked there for over 20 years and some longer. They are compassionate and dedicated and leadership treats everyone fairly and justly. It is a wonderful work atmosphere and the pay and benefits are exceptional.

This place is nothing but a greedy corporation running under the facade of a happy retirement community. They also pretend to care about thier employees, but they don't. They don't believe in second chances either.

There is a woman at the front desk by the name of Carrie or Karen or whatever.. Just plain rude. I dont understand how she even has a job here. To make things worse, it was confirmed that she is also rude to the elderly here....She needs to go. point blank period!!! Before she talks to the wring one and gets slapped into next week....

My mother was there for a few years and it was a less than pleasant experience. If your loved one has even mild to moderate dementia look elsewhere. The vast majority of residents are shall we say compos mentis. The residents for a variety of reasons have difficulty dealing with other residents with even mild dementia and this worsened as her dementia progressed. Hence it became a rather lonely and difficult time for her there. They have essentially zero staff to deal with this now increasing problem with the elderly. This review is not really a slam at the The Redwoods but more of a statement of fact. If your considering the Redwoods and dementia care isn't an issue than this place could work for you.

My grandma lives here she has a wonderfully vibrant life at the redwoods. The reason I'm only giving it three stars is because 6 years ago when she was moving, she asked if they had a gym a pool and a spa, they said it was being built. It is now done but for three years she has not been allowed to use the pool or spa because they wont hire a lifeguard. Come on redwoods please help my grandma be able to take care of herself!

My mom has been at the Redwoods for over a decade and is now 98. It has been a wonderful place for her after my Dad died. The best part of the Redwoods is the quality of the residents. They are an amazingly bright, intellectually curious, and accomplished group--and the Redwoods provides classes, activities, concerts, and the opportunity to participate in the governing of the institution. In addition, they have just completed a major remodel of the place, which it needed. If you or your loved one is intellectual or artistic and would like to be in a place where there is a real sense of community--check out the Redwoods.

In the words of the late Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock, may the Redwoods "live long and prosper" The Redwoods is so awesome and their care unit (aka nursing home) is no exception. The staff are professional and warm and laugh at my father's jokes. The diversity and appreciation of people is really notable as it really feels like a community, not a warehouse for elderly people. They have been thoughtfully remodeling and have been really helpful when my parents had to move. Nobody wants to get sick, but everyone wants to get old. If I am lucky enough to get old, I hope the Redwoods will be there for me. In a very meaningful way they already are.
