Rooms: Other than the lack of windows( making the rooms stuffy unless you leave the patio door open,) the room was very cozy and quaint. If you want quiet though, maybe not for you as they have music playing constantly.
Nearby activities: Situated in Mt. Tamalpais Park there are great hiking trails and views a short drive or bike ride or hike down to Stinson beach. A great place to stay in Marin if you want to have a home base for day excursions to Muir woods and San Francisco too.

The Mountain Home Inn is a staple in Marin County. The view from the deck looking over Mill Valley never fails to be gorgeous. The rooms are cozy with a fire place and small deck. We were very comfortable during our stay and I want to return soon!

Very nice area. Rooms could use some remodelling. Would recommend getting one with a deck and fireplace. Room #2 has a good view of the bay. Food at the restaurant was decent although a bit expensive. Very close to hiking trails and amazing views. The Inn had us fill out these breakfast cards the evening prior but nobody ever got them the entire time we stayed there. Morning service for breakfast seemed a bit slow, but eventually got orders in. Overall not a bad experience if you want to get away from the city and would recommend.

We stayed here after our afternoon in Muir Woods. It was a sweet little inn with access to other trails and wonderful views. We had a standard room - no TV. Room was comfortable with a bathroom and porch. Service was excellent- Kelly was a great hostess and attended to is with a smile and sweetness. We had dinner and loved it. I had the chopped salad and my husband had the wings with the lava cake for dessert. There was music the night we stayed and it was cool enough for a fire; making the experience relaxing. This was a great stay.
Nearby activities: Trails and vista points in Mount Tamalpais area

Gave me an ice cold glass of water on a hot day while cycling for free. Good people.

I stayed 2 extra nights beyond my original plan so probably that’s all that matters. If you are looking for peace, views, ambiance this is your place. The service was truly atrocious. Basically there was nobody there on Monday and Tuesday (the upside being you have it all to yourself) but the lady assigned to managing from 3-8pm was completely overwhelmed and distressed, leading to a stressful atmosphere. She could not answer basic questions or perform simple tasks. I dare say that’s not what one comes for but if you pay this kind of money you do expect basic staff competence. With that said I don’t regret staying 3 nights it was a wonderful retreat with family and to get a lot of work done!!
Rooms: Rooms differ by price and size a lot check it out carefully

One of our very favorite spots to go to "turn off". Location couldn't be better if you're looking to take advantage of the mountains and hiking. Uber dog friendly. Low key and maybe even quirky, but that's all part of the charm. Forever a special spot to me!

The General Mgr Chelsea is very snarky, a rude smart aleck and unprofessional person. I never cursed nor yelled at her, just upset nobody answers their calls as a first time consumer. The automatic voice recording does not inform you if there is going to be a closure due to an event. We drove over an hour and wasted gas and time to get there yesterday. So we thought okay we will try again to call today and still no answer. She never apologized and I wish I could post her voicemail message she left me to show how she is disrespectful....

Thank you for not serving me!
I was on a ride with my road bike. I stopped by to have a drink.
The waitress refused to serve me on the terrace although there were plenty of available tables and although I told her that I would stay for 10 minutes or less

Reserved an outdoor table for a pricy Mother’s Day. Turns out this meant a table around the side, no shade and high traffic noise. We left. It is a beautiful location but wish we were warned about our particular table so we could have booked somewhere else.

We really loved the Mountain Home Inn--everyone there, from Chelsea to Kelly and Victor, were super friendly and helpful.
It was comfortable and peaceful, particularly with the fireplaces in the common rooms.
The view from the restaurant terrace is excellent.
It's very close to splendid hikes and nature.
Would definitely come back here and more than recommend it!
