I purchased two items that didn't work for us and tried to return them the next day. The store refused to refund because one of the items didn't have the original clear plastic wrap and the other item looked touched. Of course we opened them to find out that they didn't work. They said no return since the items couldn't be re-sold. I feel that a store should guarantee their merchandise. If something doesn't work, it should be returned to the manufacturer, not be back on the shelf. This experience taught me that in the future I need to drive longer distances to a different hardware store.

the other day i went to goodman's to get some parts to fix a wheelchair handle. i could not fix it with the parts i bought and asked for help. one of the staff took it back there and fixed it, including a spring that i had missing, for nothing but the cost of the spring. we have got to treasure our treasures like goodman. five star

shelf prices are much lower than the prices at the register and they act like it's the customer's fault. Better check your receipt, this place will happily overcharge you.

As I was putting away my Christmas tree, I wanted to fix the base for next year. This year, the tree was skinnier than the 4 rods could hold. I wanted longer rods to hold trees of all sizes in the future. I thought I could just pick up premade rods, but they were all too short. With the help of George and Richard, I was able to create a design that works for the base. I could not have figured it out without their help. They were kind, helpful, and very patient. I mostly shop online, but I will be making trips to this Goodman for the items they carry because of this experience. It was a wonderful experience to meet two people who like their jobs, are knowledgeable, and are willing to spend the time to help customers (even though I was not purchasing expensive items).

DANGEROUS PARKING LOT -- And the manager at Goodman didn't care one bit that my tiny Mini was almost crushed by a huge pick-up truck. I am still very rattled. Goodman allows the owners of the food truck to block the view of drivers in the parking lot yet show distain when I suggested they have a responsibility to do their best to have a safe parking lot. I could not see the huge pick up truck that did not slow down for the STOP sign and luckily I was able to brake fast enough and did not get hit. The manager said with a smile, " Since we put a stop sign in, what happens in the parking lot is not our responsibility.'' There have been crashes at this spot with the stop sign installed and Goodman does not care. They don't care that many more are almost getting hit. I lived in Mill Valley for 17 years and was a regular customer of Goodman Lumber. I will never go back. Also, I agree that today the men in hardware were very rude. Sad and scary to see a local business turn callous towards the safety of its customers.

Great selection of a lot of items, however the space is so crammed and isles are very narrow. With that said, staff's weird and something in this store seems fishy. Store is filthy and many items carry a good layer of dust with barely any prices on display. A good handful of items are overpriced. As soon as we walked in a black male senior starred us down and the feeling was unwelcoming.

An old-time, amazing experience where everything is for sale is a Saturday experience, as well as THE place to go to find odd items. Surprised at how some people were turned off in their reviews! I think that they are simply used to the pristine, sanitary, well-laid out and organized hardware stores of today. Wide aisles, lots of signage, room for a cart and toddler and maybe a coffee shop. Goodman's is not. It is an warren (look it up) of roughly categorized merchandise shelved along narrow aisles and seemingly mobs of people trying to get around the harried employees who are stocking shelves. Our experience was to ask an employee where items we wanted were located and, amazingly, they directed us. It was a lot of fun and something to experience. Especially if you are looking for an unusual item that used to be usual in homes but is not is the glitzy big box hardware stores that carry the same stuff everywhere. Go back in time, have fun and don't be such a fuss-budget.

THE WORST PLACE! This place is filled with people who are clueless, don't care and most of all angry! You cannot ask them a question about anything. No one knows and no one cares. What a hell hole filled with a bunch of people who are unhappy to be there

One good experience with pleasant helpful staff but more recently very rude, clearly bored, folks who treated customers with contempt. Never again

I love Goodman's selection and location. I like to support local businesses. However, some of the staff's attitudes can be very challenging. Normally I get ok or even good help but over the last 2 days, it has been just deplorable. Today, I was waiting for a guy in paint to ask a question, and his pissed off intro was "go ahead, what's your question". I told him I thought he was there to answer questions and he said "no, I am here to mix paint, not to give opinions or advice because of the liability associated with that". Yesterday, one guy said he would help me but that he was going on break and I had to speed walk with him to the break room while he answered a question, didn't even turn around while he answered. I asked another guy where to find something and he vaguely pointed to the other side of the dept and said "over there". Good service is a choice, you either want to offer it or you don't. Clearly, Goodman's management could care less about offering good service - or they have given up. They could clearly grow the business if they wanted to.

As luck would have it, we lost power this holiday week-end and we were unable to find an electrician to come out asap. After doing some research, I determined that the problem was due to an arc fault breaker which was only 2+ years old. I got in touch with Aslam at Goodman's who found us the correct replacement part and provided detailed instructions on how to replace a arc fault breaker with a standard breaker. I have to give him 5 stars for his customer service and knowledge. Thank you Aslam and Goodmans! Jeff
