My 13 yo DNR dog saw Dr. Couch (Gina, Michelle) today to get a benign superficial sebaceous adenoma on his muzzle removed. They were incredible and took care of him there & then. It was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

I'm so grateful we found Dr. Dana Shackleton. I just love her. She has helped me with my two beloved dogs. Even supporting me in measures beyond her comfort zone to continue the life of my precious Majid. Then, when he passed naturally and beautifully, she generously offered me genuine compassionate condolences and space to talk about it all. She always is generous with her time. I trust her knowledge and her advice. She explains everything very thoroughly, patiently, and answers all my questions. She is completely respectful of my desire to know and to make the best decisions for our lives. Then she supports me with that decision. Her medical treatment, from exam to medication to surgery to advice for PT, or other options, is excellent. She diagnosed a bacteria in my dog's infection that another vet had misdiagnosed. He had done four rounds of the wrong anti biotic when I finally brought him to Dr. Shackleton. She took time to ask and research and landed on the cause, then changed the Rx, and the new antibiotic cured his infection! So I really appreciate her willingness to go beyond what's easiest or habitual and find the right remedy. She's made the difficult situations of my beloved pets' illnesses into heartwarming relationships to find the cure. I wish I had doctor for humans as good as Dr. Shackleton is for animals!

I love the vets here, very responsive to our needs, HOWEVER, the covid protocol to wait in your car is ridiculous since the pandemic is pretty much over, also they are really slow and it's impossible to reach them on the phone. We drove to an appointment today mind you, an hour drive , I made appointment 3 weeks ago just to get there and have them say we don't have an appointment today like are you serious? Come on Middletown animal hospital hire MORE help god knows you make enough money to afford more staff

I am very disappointed with my experience and quite frankly have never felt so dissatisfied with spending so much money $700 is a lot of money for me on a fixed retirement income but I was willing to spend it because my cat is in pain I took my cat in for a problem he was having with his mouth after extensive lab work they had no diagnoses for his problem and no prescription to heal him my cat is absolutely no better off then when I took him in how can they say they care when they sent my cat home absolutely no better off

Dr. Joanna Holtz and Dr. Dana Shackelton are AMAZING! We take our goldendoodle, Bodie, here after so many great recommendations from others. We live in Saint Helena and drive all the way to Middletown because of the fantastic service and care that our doodle gets. They handle our dog with such care and are very communicative with me as his mom. Further, he was neutered at the facility and he gets his heartworm and flea/tick medicine there. They are always on top of appointments and the staff has been great with the Covid protocols. I appreciate them being careful and continuing to be careful for the health of their patients, and their loved ones. I highly, highly recommend Middletown Animal Hospital! Best vet we've ever had and we've had 7 dogs in our lives -- mostly older rescues. They always take exceptional care!

I had a great experiance. The vets seemed caring. I have been to most lake county vets around Clear lake. These people really stand out as nice caring people. They are reasonablly priced to . I would recommend them before anyone else I have gone to by far.

This office advertises it's local & that you get superb hospital & individualized care. NOT so. The veterinarians are unresponsive. I've used these folks for convenience sake 4 my dog & cats. Not impressed w/ their skills or care. They have a vet there who's allergic to cats & dislikes small dogs? Recently I had an emergency for my horse. You would think returning customers would receive a warmer reception. Was put on hold for 20 minutes by a receptionist (Carrie) who apparently was never schooled in customer service. She never apologized for wait time. Was suppose to leave doctors a note 2 call me back. None of the 5 Vets in this practice ever called me back. I had to call the next morning to follow up & was told "oh yah, doctor said she'd b willing to do ranch visit"-the ranch is 5 minutes down the road? Was told they were booked & they'd get back in a day or two? Not acceptable for emergency care-My horse could have died in that time period! I will never use this business again & will advise friends & family to explore alternative veterinary care.

Absolutely amazing Veterinary Hospital. Thanksgiving week I took my very sick 10 year old Boston Terrier in for what we thought was a pancreatitis flare up... well, it ended up being an obstruction, and he needed surgery. DR. shackelton originally was working with us, then was headed out of town, and handed it off to Dr. Smith. He took immediate action to try to get to the bottom of what was causing all of the issues, and on Tuesday 11/24 he cleared his schedule to get our boy into surgery. Their staff was incredibly understanding and always stayed in touch with us every step up the way. I even got an update Thanksgiving morning from DR Smith himself. Not only that, he went back the night of the surgery to check on our boy..(he was recovering well) because that’s just the kind of Vet he is. Also, the office/tech/ and kennel staff ALL took a part in our dogs care, and recovery. I found out one of the gals clocked out one night and took him for a 20 minute walk because he was having a hard time settling. This melted my heart. These people do their jobs because they obviously love it, and love the animals that pass through. They saved my dogs life, and I don’t know how I will ever be able to thank them enough. We’ve been clients of MAH for about 5 years, and have never had anything like this happen. We had no idea what to expect and we were very scared and nervous. DR Smith calmed all my nerves and I felt so blessed my dog was under his watch. He’s truly an amazing vet with great experience, and I can’t say enough great things about the staff. To all of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my boy. Thank you for making him feel so loved when he had to be away from his home for 5 whole days. I’m Forever grateful!! Love, krystle, Mariah and Mulan- aka Mu (the Boston terrier)

Though I have heard many horror stories about insistence for immediate payment during emergencies I thought I'd try them because of their location. A very long wait in the cubicle while one of the vets got around to coming in just terrified an already terrified cat on 3 occasions. When my cat had a terrible abscess they told me to go to Santa Rosa and when I simply asked for Revolution flea and tick treatment they insisted I make an appointment to come in just to charge me for a visit. I also had different diagnosis's for the same ear problem from 3 different vets! No thanks, my cats deserve better. Your irritating answering machine about the animals preferring your office is plainly not true.

Jeff saved more than one of my animals, one was my Mopsy, tainted dog food. The other was Ginger, rattlesnake bite. Jeff is always continuing his education. I very highly recommend Jeff!

Just moved to the area when our 13 year old terrier developed a dramatic limp. Called around to vets closer to us but no one could see us same day for urgent care, except here. Resigned, I drove 30 minutes without high expectations. Best thing I could have done for both myself and my dog. Very loving, professional, and supportive staff at every stage. Dr. Holtz spent generous time with Samwise and then talking me through her diagnosis and suggested treatment, which was almost immediately effective. Follow up calls the next day Saturday with blood work test results, then a check up call a few days later, then another to schedule a follow up appointment. Both dog and I are thrilled.
