Merced Mall is currently undergoing construction and renovation, which has resulted in only one side of the mall being open to the public. The open section has some stores that are decent, but much of the mall remains closed off, creating a somewhat deserted and uninviting atmosphere. The mall has been under construction for a couple of years, leading to concerns about whether the project will be completed soon. Many stores are leaving in anticipation of the rebuild, and there are fewer shopping options available. Despite these issues, visitors have found the open area to be better than expected and appreciate that it is not as empty as some have been told. The mall's reopening has brought some activity, but it is still a work in progress. The food court and seating areas remain closed for now, and visitors are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. Overall, once the renovation is complete and more stores reopen, Merced Mall has the potential to become a good shopping spot again.
