I have been going to this store for years. They push customers to use self checkout. I have visited a few times without a wallet and tried to use Apple Pay. I go through the checkout process and finish and then the system craps out. The attendant says that the machines don't work with Chase or Wells Fargo. He can't even process it at his station. WTF? They have known about this issue for months. Twice I have wasted 30 minutes each and then left a basket and walked out of the store. Poor management, crappy technology. No one gives a s**t. Go to Trader Joe's instead of this poorly run backwater of a store.

This place gets a low score but it was perfect as I was visiting a local office in area and needed something for lunch. I picked up a good 'ready to go' Italian sandwich with a salad. Tasted great and I was in and out quickly. Place looked clean not sure why the low ratings.

Bare shelves, from literally NO eggs of any type or size to no sparkling water or basic produce. The other Safeway on El Camino was in stock so what's the difference?

The store has kept freezing cold by their air-conditioning system. It’s so cold that I won’t shop there again. The employees dress in sweaters, and sweatshirts. To adjust the cold to be a bit warmer they open the doors with the air conditioning still running!Management, anyone?

This is that weird Safeway that is seen near Stanford university. I only came to this Safeway once and it's pretty interested for a university supermarket. It's a lot smaller than the Safeways in my county which are very big food centers. I have gotten some things that I don't usually see in my local Safeway which is a huge win here. This place also closes very late which is good because I often find myself driving home from SF or other parts of San Mateo County without any snack or drinks. I loved the snacks they have here, it's really worth the trip. The location of this shopping center is pretty cool too. Drawback: This building is rather dated maybe like 1970-80s or something so please don't let it hold you back. I would not come here unless I really have to.
