As I mentioned on other reviews, our plans over the summer were changed at the last minute by wildfires in Canada. This resulted in us having to change plans on the hoof and for a number of reasons we ended up booking 3 nights here. The hotel is OK – I’d say it feels more like an upscale business hotel not a vacation spot (though it was very busy with families in July). For me, it didn’t feel luxurious enough in terms of the room product or location. Our first suite looked over a very busy road but we were then moved to overlook the pool which was better. The suite is more like a junior suite with the bedroom area separated by a partial wall. The sleeping area was small, however the bed was comfortable with very soft linens. There is a small hallway leading into the sitting area which is well stocked with coffee maker, kettle, fridge, cups etc. The bathroom - although it only had a single basin - had plenty of storage and had a large shower cubicle with rain-head as well as a good bath. The dressing room had very little short-hanging space but other than that was well planned. However, the staff in the restaurant are VERY good – several of them German, perfectly trained and on point. One of them recommended the excellent Village Pub for a meal one evening which we very much enjoyed. Also, if there on a Thursday do go to the bar - Thursday evenings are rather an entertaining “scene”.

Gotta start by saying this hotel is by far the best in the area. Beautiful rooms, nice staff, good and professional service. I’d give it a 5 star if it weren’t for the fact that they have NO ROOM SERVICE between 11pm to 6am. Not even coffee or a pastry basket. Nothing. If you wake up jet lagged? Got an early flight? Good luck you’re on your own! When I asked why, they were super apologetic and recommended I try Uber Eats or use nespresso pods in the room. Tbh, I’d be fine if i were paying 3-star rates in the middle of some sleepy town. How is it that they charge these rates per night and don’t even have one person on a Night Shift to give a limited set of f&b needs? This is supposed to be a top tier business hotel. People fly into this area from all over the world with major time zone differences, landing and taking off at different times. Give your guests some 24-hr options for fresh coffee, oats, pastries, fruit plates…

Having stayed in a significant number of 5 star hotels around the world, and being a bit of a stickler for detail, I can honestly say this property is newly top of my list. The building and grounds are beautiful with thoughtful architectural and design touches which create a subtly luxurious feel. The rooms are extremely well appointed with excellent amenities and, being a Brit in the States, that rare thing - a kettle for making tea. The furnishing were of a high quality and everything was well thought out and exactly where it needed to be. Housekeeping was meticulous and discrete with excellent attention to detail. The gym was well equipped and well maintained and whilst I did not use the Spa, the impression from the reception and small shop suggested it would be in keeping with the high standards set throughout the rest of the property. All the staff I came in to contact with - from reception, to restaurant and pool - were friendly, helpful and gave the impression of enjoying their work. Given the location, the property is clearly focussed on high end corporate business, but this did not impact on my enjoyment of the hotel as a solo leisure traveller. It is rare that I visit a property and can think of nothing that could have been bettered. The Rosewood Sand Hill may well be the first to achieve that high standard.

I attended a fantastic event at Rosewood Sand Hill, Menlo Park. Everything was perfect from the food to the friendly team taking care of us. There were lots of food options, everything we had was delicious. The chimichurri beef was a winner with the guests! We made use of the ballroom which was smartly decorated and offered a bar and dance floor, which was great for those who wanted to make the most of the DJ. We also had the the outdoor tent for our sit down meal, which was heated, so even during this cold and rainy spell it was a great space. The connecting space was the perfect spot for guest check-in, coat check, canapés, and of course the photo booth. Having a variety of spaces ensured all guests were able to enjoy the evening, which was appreciated. Everyone had a wonderful evening and can’t wait to come back for future events!

This is our home away from home when we are traveling to the Bay Area. Born and raised on the mid-peninsula we moved to the central coast April 2021 and haven't looked back. Still and all we need to visit the Bay from time to time. We've stayed at this property four or five times this past year and this review covers them all. First they are consistent. One of the trips involved meeting space, another hosting clients at their restaurant private dining space. Amazing. Each trip involved a night or two stay too often at the last minute after long flights and our deciding we do noot want to drive late at night another hour and a half to get home. We made last minute resys' and were welcomed back. Bellmen say hello and recognize us and always get everything to the room even if we're hungry and heading to the restaurant. One night they upgraded us 'just because.' The rooms are ample, there is a treat waiting for us. The amenities are FABULOUS. Slippers, robes, Le Labo soaps, the toiletries you need. Beds are comfortable, coffee is delish and now they know we seek extra pods and they are waiting for us when we check in.. Food at Madera is amazing. sometimes we eat out at the bar; sometimes out on the terrace and sometimes in Madera restaurant itself. The wait staff is warm and welcoming as well. food DELISH. They accommodate our every need and I couldn't say more positive things about this property. And when we travel with the pooch, voila! he's welcome too. Love love love it here. Sometimes business; sometimes couples trip - but always amazing!

Perfect place for a getaway in the Bay Area. Recently stayed with a girls trip and it was the most relaxing experience. We had originally planned activities in the area, however cancelled almost all of them as we did not want to leave the hotel especially the amazing pool! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the service is incomparable. Not surprised as Rosewood is truly an exquisite brand. I cannot wait to be back!

Excellent stay at the Rosewood Sand Hill, the property is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms were spacious with fun design elements. We found all the service to be absolutely top notch. Had a lovely dinner with friends at the restaurant and got lucky with weather and was able to enjoy the pool. Finished the trip with a relaxing spa appointment. I will definitely be back in the future!

I've been to Madera many times, but they've had a menu refresh and it was my first time trying some of the new items. Once again, they didn't disappoint. Ricotta and grilled sourdough - a great way to start. And I loved my steak salad with the summery addition of cherries. Perfect combination of flavours. The staff were warm and welcoming and remembered me from my last visit. Unbeatable views on a beautiful, sunny day. All in all, great food, excellent service, and gorgeous setting.

Attended an evening event. The food was a self serve with salads, sliders and paella. The food was all right and service was good. There were tables to stand and eat with limited seating on a grassy area. The presentation was in a room just inside and had comfortable chairs and good audiovisual service. I have been to the restaurant pre-pandemic with excellent food and service.

This hotel was amazing! Im very particular when i sleep away from home and i wish i was still there ! Its not fancy, but not too casual, the beds are so comfortable i I live the nice white high quality linens, i love the Shower its huge! great water pressure! too & clean! But what is the best stand out thing at this hotel is the Service!! from the minute they welcome you at your car, to check in, tk delivering your bags, setting you up, asking for anything they are on it & with smiles & happy too! Even hot water at night! And the grounds are beautiful! We did not eat at restaurants so cant comment !! Every single employee was top notch !!

My first time staying at a Rosewood hotel and I wasn’t disappointed. My family and I were going to a conference in Stanford University and this was the official hotel. The service levels were well up to expectations and were very friendly. My wife and I had a junior suite which was well appointed. The one gripe I have is that there aren’t any clothes hooks in the bathroom (which is huge). Somehow many hotels seem to have the same problem: where to hang the very nice bathrobe which comes with the room? There’s one restaurant which was very good. The staff were always helpful, even when the place was full they tried to accommodate us within a short time. A hotel such as this doesn’t come cheap but it was able to deliver their brand promise well.

We stopped 3 nights ton Rosewood Sandhill . The room was super confortable The bed was amazing , I couldn’t get up ! The front desk really helped me, I was sick and with the security dept , they had lots of attentions for me :) As a chamomile in my room etc .. Thank you for this personalized gestures. The pool is really relaxing and the bar at the pool and the staff were pleasant. The spa is huge and you really want to come back to do a spa retreat ! The breakfast was excellent ?? Well done !

Service from reception and guy at the front of the hotel was excellent. Really impressive. At the restaurant and bar, it was very mixed. I went to have a drink at the bar and waited nearly half an hour despite it being very quiet. I kept being told someone would come to take my order (I wasn't provided with a menu). Similarly at breakfast, I would wait and be ignored. My colleague had to ask three times for a coffee. Service was either really good at breakfast or non-existent. The rooms are beautiful and the property is lovely. It has a great gym. It's expensive so they really need to sort out service from the F&B team to bring the hotel up to scratch. I would definitely stay there again. It would just be great if the F&B service was consistent.

I recently enjoyed a “daycation” at Rosewood Sand Hill. Started with a workout in the gym. The facility is well-stocked with equipment - free weights, machines, mats, peloton bikes - and it’s very clean and well-maintained. There’s even an outside area with bikes and weights if you’re more comfortable exercising out there. Next, I had a relaxing massage at the spa. Fong was my practitioner. She was very pleasant and attentive. Worked out the tightness in my shoulders and back. I even managed to drift off for a few minutes. The spa has great little extras - everything I needed to get ready for the rest of my day: hairdryer, hair and body product. Finally - a leisurely lunch on the patio at Madera. Had the ricotta + grilled bread, devilled eggs, flank steak, and spinach. Probably more food than I really needed, but I wanted to try it all..and it was delicious. I especially liked the spinach, prepared with golden raisins and pine nuts. I also loved the devilled eggs - topped with a little bit of trout roe…so it was like eggs on eggs :) Overall, it was such a wonderful experience. The service, as always, is impeccable. The staff remember me from the last time I was there and welcome me back like it’s my second home. Looking forward to my next visit - when I will definitely try the octopus.
