We were happy customers here for 2 years, however a recent grooming accident left our dog with a scratched corneal (surface of eyeball) that caused infection and required medical treatment. I would not be using grooming service here again and would not recommend to anyone else. It's a real pitty as this is a great shop otherwise with good selection of goods and friendly knowledgable staff.
While I understand accidents could happen, I am very disappointed by lack of transparency and information from the store. They did not inform us of any incident happening during grooming. Our dog started getting a red eye a few hours later and turned into a bad infection overnight. When I called store the next morning, they said the groomer was not working that day and still claimed nothing happened. After seeing our vet, they confirmed a very clear scratch in the center of eyeball that likely happened during grooming. It leaves me questioning store's safety practice. Was she hurt by groomer, or another dog? I guess we'll never know.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Bow Wow Meow in Menlo Park! Beautiful store, fantastic product offerings, and their staff goes ABOVE and beyond to make sure you get what you need. Highly recommend visiting!

So sad about what used to be a good experience with a groomer. Today was the final straw. We have been grooming our dog at BWM for nearly five years. But over the past six months I noticed a pattern of upcharges. Each time an $15 upcharge was added to our $140 groom every time, despite our dog arriving ready for a groom, pristine and mat free. Given my experience with owning this type of dog for nearly 20 years, I know what a matted dog that takes extra work looks like, or even one with minor mats. BWM has been charging me lately no matter what. This is new and makes me feel like a sucker. Which I clearly am given I went back three times after I noticed and began to question this practice. This time I pointed it out going in at dropping off. Was charged anyway and today the dog was perfect. Good bye BWM, not only is your base price WAY out of line with market, upcharging on top of that and then arguing with your customer about their dog and their past experience is not good business. Trust in pricing in a service business is key to customer retention. Which is why I am going elsewhere.

The staff here are very friendly and I understand that they do not make the rules, but this place is overbooked when it comes to grooming appointments and enough is enough. We love Katie. But I do not love my dog being sent home with a nicked face, 3/4 of the last appointments. One of the nicks required veterinary care. I don't think this is the groomers fault so much, they are obviously very busy and rushed. Maybe with the increase in prices it's time to stop booking so many grooming appointments to push people through. We tried Bow Wow Meow in San Carlos, then started to drive to Menlo Park, but we will not be back. I would not recommend bringing my pet here if you are expecting an experience above what you could get at a nationwide chain pet store any longer.

The Staff here are super friendly and are always ready to help! My dog Churro comes in often to get his nails trimmed and I've never had any issues at all. The retail workers are always so gentle when taking him despite how high energy he can be. The groomers are always so communicative and friendly too! My dog loves the pig ears from there!

Final curtain call for Bow Wow Meow. Very disappointed. My dog has consistently come to Bow Wow Meow for grooming...they are aware he is a blind senior dog. I made an appointment for him to be groomed last week, unfortunately I had a flight delay and could not drop him off or pick him up but I have a friend who lives in town that volunteered to do this for me. I called Bow Wow Meow ahead of time and explained the situation and prepaid (and included a tip for the groomer). I asked them to take my number in case they needed to reach me. I heard nothing from them, and once I returned home, my friend showed me a screenshot of the note below stating they would no longer take santos for grooming because they "found that his age and body condition made the experience too stressful for him." What body condition? The fact that he is blind? I of course will place minimizing my dog's stress levels as the top priority but this feels unprofessional. They should have called me to explain the situation, especially because we are long time customers who have repeatedly come for grooming. I am officially hitting "paws" on Bow Wow Meow and will not return to this store.

The cost of grooming (for a small dog) has recently increased more than 50%, from $80 to $140, which ends up being $160+ with tip. If the price increase is that significant, they should mention it when you book an appointment, or when you drop off, or list it in somewhere in the store. We have found their grooming service to be mediocre at best. Many times, we have given very specific instructions on the length of haircut we request, and our request is not honored. We will find a new place for grooming our dog.

I'm disappointed that this place has increased their prices by 100% Pre Covid I could get my small dog fully groomed for $70.. it is now $140!!! The staff here is good overall, but management is on one for raising their prices so high. I have been a customer here for almost 9 years and understand inflation, but this is absurd and I will not be coming back anymore.

Do NOT go here!!! They traumatized my dog. Saw 2 other dogs coming to their owner and they, too, were traumatized.

I hate to leave bad reviews of businesses and in fact never do. This is particularly true of small businesses but this one is the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. I had an appointment 3 weeks ago for a grooming. It was cancelled a day before because they told me their groomer quit. The next available appointment was 3 weeks later. I accepted that without complaint. They asked that I drop off my dog at 8:00 am less than 24 hours before my appointment. Called this morning to ask if it would be a problem to drop her off 15 minutes later. Was told no problem. I made the 20 minute drive (traffic took longer than expected) and when I arrived they said they had again cancelled the appointment because I was 5 minutes late. Even worse, the groomer, Katie, was rude and had no customer service skills. The owner of the business should be very concerned about the disregard with which Katie treats customers. Will never use this service or shop in this store again.
