The food was outstanding and so fresh! The Scallops were delicious and the Tamales Rajas melted in our mouths! Very quiet and charming place too. The service was good but a little slow, but the overall experience was lovely.

MacCallum House is one of our favorite restaurants in the village of Mendocino. It always feels like coming home. We've been going there for over 30 years and it has NEVER disappointed us. The food is 5 star, the view of the ocean & village gorgeous & quaint and the service is always great. We love it there and highly recommend it.

I had one of the best meals of my life at the MacCallum House. We had our dog with us so we ate dinner on their heated veranda. It was a foggy, somewhat chilly night at the end of summer but the food made up for any discomfort. I enjoyed a wonderful gem salad with roasted herbed hazelnuts, flatbread and cheese while my husband enjoyed the special albondigas soup, along with a lovely glass of a delicious Savignon Blanc that we both loved. Our main course was the chef's special of pan seared scallops over a bed of creamed and crispy corn with bacon and, if I correctly remember, mushrooms. Every bite was scrumptious and I didn't need dessert but my husband ordered the chocolate pudding with a hazelnut fudge bottom while I got a pistachio biscotti with vanilla ice cream. With this, we both ordered decafs and it was the richest, best cup of decaf that I've ever had. This meal was definitely a splurge but worth every cent because I know I'll never forget it.

The capresse heirloom tomato salad and artisan cheese appetizers were spot on. Sea scallops and fettuccine with skirt steak strips delicious. Chocolate Extravaganza dessert with cappuccinos the perfect ending.

This is a top choice for fine dining in Mendocino. The fish dinners we had were perfectly prepared and the service is top notch. The dining areas are quiet. This place is perfect for a date night or for dining with your foodie friends. You won't be disappointed.

We came here for the first time, food was really good. I had fried chicken, my husband had filet mignon that was a bit too rare. He asked for closer to medium but it was ready to moo. My chicken was great, came with a weird cornbread that wasn't very good. We ordered drinks and they didn't arrive until halfway through dinner. The server seemed all over the place, maybe short staffed, not sure. Overall it was nice meal.

Great food and service in a beautiful setting. We ate outside on the veranda. So pretty. Food was some of the best we've had in months and service was impeccable, even though short staffed. Great cocktails (elderberry martini) and the duck was excellent. So were the special noodles. Bread and butter out of this world. Best anywhere - no lie. Lots of great dishes to choose from. Great place for a special occasion.

Kitchen\back of house is totally on point- every dish we had was great. Service while friendly was problematic - we sat on the veranda, and it appeared that for some ill considered reason the server appointed us had their main section elsewhere, so we were mostly forgotten. Fortunately all the dishes were on point and quite enjoyable, even tho they were all delivered by an expeditor at the same time.

Not exactly the A-Team working last night for our 30th anniversary celebration dinner. Service was slow, and waitstaff changed many times, making service erratic, impersonal, and cumbersome. Duck entree was OK (lukewarm), but steak was cold, undercooked/raw (not rare as ordered)... notwithstanding chewy. When I attempted to politely hail any available wait person, no one was around to remedy the issue, and it took forever to get our check. We had planned on a celebratory desert, et-al, but by then, we just wanted to escape the inattentive environment. Definitely not coming back next year, as your competition offers far more superior service and quality.

It was our 21st anniversary. The service was outstanding, but the food was next level sensational! Best meal ever. We are still talking about the cheese trio!!! Thank you for making it a special night.

My husband's food allergies were graciously accommodated and we both loved our meals. Dining on the porch was truly lovely and our server was attentive without being annoying. I'd definitely go back.

I want to like this place, but I think the food has gone downhill over the last few months. It used to be our favorite place in Mendocino! Not sure I'll be coming back for awhile.

Cheese plate; nice presentation, good cheeses, bottom bread slice a little stale. Corn/bacon soup more like a stew. Corn very fresh but overpowered all the potatoes. Would have liked more broth and way less potatoes.

I would say the dinner was very good especially the halibut. . The service was attentive and well trained. Somehow by 630 we were seated next to the only other couple on the dining room that was a little awkward w the proximity. But overall go there enjoy the bar and or a meal and enjoy the limitless Betty if the coast.

Beautiful building and garden. Took a long time to get served even though we had a reservation. They started to remove our bread plates before we ever received the bread. The bread finally came more than a half hour after we were seated, a minute before the entrees arrived. One meal was tasty, however the other was a disaster. The duck that was ordered medium arrived almost raw (which could be a health hazard). After it was sent back, it was returned from the kitchen overcooked from finishing in a microwave. The skin was no longer crisp and the meat dried. Unfortunately, this was a $50 dinner that I couldn't enjoy. When I complained to the manager, she apologized and said that she would adjust the bill. After another long wait, the check finally arrived with an insulting adjustment of less than $5.00 for the inedible meal. This was our last night in town and unfortunately instead of it being our most memorable meal, it was the worst we had dining out I Mendocino.
