44850 Comptche Ukiah Rd, Mendocino“My husband and I brought our border collie to stay at The Stanford Inn & Resort By The Sea for four glorious days the last week of May. We stayed in room 253 which was a cottage, the Canoe Suite at Big River Bridge, and we just fell in love with the place. We did want to leave this exquisite family home and organic farm where the Stanfords have created an award-winning eco-resort that is big on luxury and creature comforts.
This is a very dog friendly Inn. Our border collie was so happy there. They had two big bowls waiting for her and a blanket and treats! We had no problem taking her out for potty breaks, and for long morning and evening walks around the gorgeous property. Truly, this is a joy and a rare treat for anyone bringing their four- legged family member on vacation.
From the morning sun streaming into our bedroom, to the smell of the fresh ocean air, from the view of the river out our window as we soaked it all in, to the warmth of the wood burning fire in the large fireplace that was all prepared for us, to the blanket of stars above at night, to the mouthwatering breakfasts that are included in your stay in the morning, there is so much to write about and love about the Stanford Inn!
The lovely cottage had a Nepresso machine and they were incredibly generous with different types of organic coffee pods. The organic teas were plentiful and delicious. There was plenty of interesting reading; and if you want to cook, this cottage came equipped with two burners and a large refrigerator. They even had soothing spa music playing when we walked into the cottage on a CD player! So for those of you (like us) who love your CDs, bring them! You feel like you are being held in this super sweet energy! I want to go back!
I thoroughly enjoyed the solarium where there is an indoor saltwater pool that is just the right temperature and perfect for doing laps. Your skin will feel super soft! They have a wonderful large jacuzzi that is surrounded with potted plants and orchids in these lovely dragon motif ceramic pots. You feel like you are in someone's really cool home because you are! There is an incredible sauna and a shower and a changing room. I would love to be there one rainy evening. The whole place exudes charm. I felt renewed after spending a leisure morning there reading amongst all the plants, taking it all in before my spa appointment.
I loved the spa. It is nestled in the forest and is beautiful. I had the best facial ever. It was a 90 minute cell renewal facial given to me by the gifted Cristelle Hein. She took so much time with me and gave me such loving care. She is superb! Truly, this was the best facial I have ever had. My husband was blown away by how youthful I looked afterwards! I felt like a new woman, like Cristelle worked magic and reversed the clock on my skin. I was glowing afterwards. I would say getting a facial by Cristelle is a must. She is simply the best.
I was walking our dog along the idyllic road leading to the cottage where we were staying ( rescue horses, my favorite beloved miniature donkey and sweet Llamas on one side, organic fruits and vegetables, gorgeous flowers and trees on the other) and I meet this incredibly charming, beautiful woman who was also walking her dog.
She had a radiant personality and she was a delight to interact with! I thought what a joyful soul this is. I found out that she was Joan Stanford. No wonder The Stanford Inn is such a gorgeous magical place filled with really good energy, it is a reflection of Joan! I found out that she is also the author of "The Art of Play" and I am reading her book now. I am deeply touched by her sincerity, authenticity and openness. I read on the Inn's website that she has an upcoming workshop and I know anyone would benefit from time spent with her. She has such good energy!
The Standford Inn has something for everyone! No wonder Condé Nast Traveler gave The Standford Inn & Resort By The Sea the awards for Excellence for 2023 and 2024”
“Amazing stay at the Alegria Inn. I came just for a day, but all the staff, innkeepers, and owner were very professional and accommodating. Location was very clean and good attention to detail on all the small things. I originally was staying in Village Farm Retreat but they gave me the option to upgrade to Driftwood cottage. The natural lighting and feel of the room was great and was an unexpected surprise to the end of a long vacation/travel trip.I think there is a lot that comes into being a good host, with intentionality and simply just caring. I felt very welcome and comfortable and will definitely come back and recommend Alegria to my friends and family.”

11201 Lansing St, Mendocino“The Agate Cove Inn is a true gem. My (now) husband and I were lucky enough to get married on the property during our stay. Staying here was a magical experience from start to finish, and not just because of the gorgeous location for our elopement. The staff is so lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and taken care of. We are vegan and they made us truly delicious meal accommodations. We eloped to focus on what mattered most to us for our special day - each other. This beautiful bed and breakfast let us unwind, connect, focus on our 7 years together, and truly cherish this important step in our relationship. We can't thank the Agate Cove Inn enough, and we hope to return for a stay sometime soon.”

45170 Little Lake St, Mendocino“My wife and I recently spent an extended weekend at the charming Packard House. While it's not the most budget-friendly option (but what is in Mendocino), it's perfect for a special occasion, and I very much recommend it. Having stayed at the Blue Door Inn before, we expected similar excellence from this related property, and we weren't disappointed.
We arrived a little after 6 pm and had to arrange for an after-hours check-in. The process was seamless, thanks to the detailed instructions emailed and texted to us. We booked the King Guest Room, which is separate from the main house, located just behind it. The room was very clean, featuring a very comfortable king-sized bed and a fireplace that added a cozy touch to our stay. The couch was perfect for our evening reading sessions. I particularly appreciated the two doors in the room—one leading to the street where we parked and the other opening to the inn’s backyard. In warmer weather, I would definitely enjoy some time on our private garden patio. Since the room isn’t part of the main house, it was very quiet.
For those who travel with multiple gadgets like laptops, iPhones, iPads, and camera batteries, the inn offers excellent WiFi access and plenty of power outlets. Once you enter the WiFi password at the Packard House, it works at the Blue Door too, making it easy to stay connected and share your experiences with friends.
The breakfast, delivered in an insulated basket to our door each morning by a friendly staff member, was outstanding. It included hot coffee and a variety of sweet and savory items that provided a great start to our day. Each basket came with a menu detailing the dishes, which was a nice touch. We preferred to take our basket into the main house to eat at the large dining room table, but most guests chose to enjoy their breakfast in their rooms or on their outdoor porches.
We also took advantage of the complimentary wine and cheese hour held between 4 and 5 pm at the Blue Door Inn on two evenings. The cheese plate was generously stocked with items that paired wonderfully with both red and white wine. It's an event you shouldn't miss, so be sure to plan your schedule around it.
Last, the inn went above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday special. They arranged for a thoughtful birthday card and a couple of treats from Mendocino Chocolate Company, adding a personal touch that made our weekend even more memorable. I can’t recommend the Packard House enough.
Rooms: The rooms have a lot of character - just like the Inn. We were very happy with a room outside of the main house.
Walkability: Easy walk to anywhere in the town of Mendocino”

45020 Albion St, Mendocino“The food was outstanding and so fresh! The Scallops were delicious and the Tamales Rajas melted in our mouths! Very quiet and charming place too. The service was good but a little slow, but the overall experience was lovely.”
“I was set to camp and paddle Navarro Beach, but devastating weather forced a closure as I was in transit. I am so happy Angel helped me get checked in after a long, wet day and made sure I was placed in a room with a view of my truck loaded with camping supplies, including my kayak. He and this hotel turned an uncertain episode into a night where I could relax and recharge for the next day's adventures. Awesome location, and I recommend Gnar Bar for some of the best noodles you'll get in NorCal.”

10701 Palette Dr, Mendocino“My partner and I have stayed here three Augusts in a row for a standing Mendocino family reunion. The rooms are always clean, service is consistent and reliable, and the location can't be beat. Although there aren't a lot of amenities, I always come back here for the consistent rooms, helpful staff, and for being the most affordable option close to the downtown area. After our most recent trip, the Inn's staff went above and beyond to return to me an item I left behind in the room which I greatly appreciated. I would recommend staying here.”
“I spent a blissful 90 minutes with Rebekah and Sara indulging their Balance and Restore Offering consisting of simultaneous body work and sound healing in a cozy setting. Sara’s music transported all 3 of us beyond our cares allowing us to go deep within while Rebekah’s intuitive touch and masterful cupping relaxed every inch of my body. I cannot recommend this experience enough. 10/10.”
