We’re so incredibly disappointed with our experience here after we had such a lovely time. My fiancé and I love Mendocino and we went for a little getaway for a few days and were excited to stay in the Jessica suite.
The stay itself was wonderful and uneventful, but tonight after we returned home we received an angry call from the manager Helen yelling at us accusing us of spilling coffee on a $3,000 bureau and removing the veneer. It was shocking to say the least, mainly because we were 100% positive we had never spilled anything and would obviously take responsibility for it if we did. She became angrier and angrier saying we were disrespectful and terrible people. She then accused my fiancé of “not having balls” because when we first arrived she undercharged us (we sorted it out once she realized it) and somehow that was our fault because we didn’t notice. After 15 minutes of us trying to calmly talk to her we had to hang up because it was clear she didn’t want to have a conversation but just wanted to yell at us.
It was such a sour note to end our trip on and we’re sad we won’t be going back to the Blair House. I also hate leaving bad reviews but as someone who works at a hotel in a managerial position I was just so taken aback at her unprofessional and aggressive behavior.

We loved the Blair House Inn! A must to experience, especially for fans of Murder She Wrote. We stayed in the Blair Cottage. The cottage is in the back of the property. We parked right next to it. The cottage is adorable! It has a full kitchen and all the necessary amenities. The proprietor was lovely, she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. It is a short walk into town, we enjoyed dinner and a walk to the ice cream shop. Mendocino is a charming town and the Blair House is a perfect fit for a wonderful getaway!Walkability: A perfect walk to all shops and restaurants.

My spouse and I love Mendocino and finding out that Mendocino and Fort Bragg served as locations for Murder, She Wrote made us love it even more. We finally got to stay at Blair House Inn this November (2023). We stayed in Angela's suite and loved the old Victorian charm of the house. It was closed for a while for renovations, so I was glad to see they were booking stays again. Our suite had a four poster bed, a sitting room with a great view of Mendocino and the ocean in the distance. The bathroom is unique and charming. If it's not original, it certainly feels like it. The entire suite was welcoming, comfortable and clean. What better way for me to spend my birthday weekend than getting to stay exactly where I wanted: The house that served as Jessica Fletcher's house in fictional Cabot Cove, Maine. Looking for peace and quiet? There are plenty of books to read about Mendocino or Angela Lansbury in Blair House, both in the suite and the charming hallway that looks like Jessica could have just stepped out. There also are additional books in the bookcase in Angela's suite--mostly mystery, as far as I could tell. As the innkeeper told me when booking, it's not Jessica Fletcher's house on the inside. The house was only used for exterior shots. I told her I knew -- she just didn't want people to be disappointed. It didn't stop my spouse and for making private jokes about who might be next to die in Cabot Cove. Helen, the innkeeper, is kind and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. Thanks for the pleasant experience! One thing to note: You cannot directly book a room from the website. You will need to call. I highly recommend Blair House Inn. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this lovely historic home. But you will certainly enjoy it if you are.

A truly exceptional and nostalgic experience. Great host. It's an old victorian, but it is well cared after. Nothing but good things to say about our stay.

Really cozy Victorian house located close to some of the main shops of Mendocino. Hellen (the host) knew quite a bit about Murder She Wrote and loved discussing the show and Angela Lansbury with fans and visitors. Rooms and bathrooms were tidy and Hellen made sure we had all that we needed.

We had a great stay at the Blair House. It was a well deserved long weekend. Have always enjoyed Mendocino and this place is within walking distance of all the shopping and great dinning! They've done a lot of work to make the house feel historic while having all the modern necessities. Recommended to our friends for sure. We'll be back.

This review is long overdue. We have stayed at Blair House many times over the years. Each time we go our experience surpasses our expectations. We love this historic iconic beauty in the heart of Mendocino Village. The Inn is warm and welcoming with just the right amount of historic detail and furnishings. Helen is a wonderful hostess and has offered us many ideas on things to do in the area. Although I must admit our favorites include relaxing at the Inn, enjoying the view from the garden, or walking around town admiring the the shops and eating all the wonderful food we could possibly want. We can't wait to go back to our favorite getaway.

What an amazing property nestled in the middle of Mendocino village. From Architectural details to historical significance, from light filled, specious rooms to wonderful hospitality this gem of the property is as close to being home away from home as possible. It's a very easy walk to shops, restaurants, beaches, and parks. Properties direct association with famous actress Angela Lansbury and filming of Murder She Wrote at this very spot made our stay that much more special.

Blair house is my favorite Airbnb on the California coast. It's right in the heart of Mendocino and has so much history and charm to it. It's perfectly appointed with beautiful antiques and heirloom quilts. You feel like you've been transported in time to a slower way of life. It is within a couple of minutes walking distance to incredible restaurants, shops, and grocers. It's been a perfect getaway for my husband and me before we had kids and when our parents have visited, and now with our young baby. It really does hold a special place in our hearts. Excited to create many more memories here.

Charming and sweet bed and breakfast. Did a girl’s weekend away and we were all welcomed by Norm who so helpful and kind as the hotel manager. Wonderful relaxing weekend and a bonus to stay at the “Jessica Fletcher” house.
