We were deciding between staying at Alegria vs a cheaper option and I’m so glad we chose Alegria!! It surpassed all our expectations! My only regret is not staying here longer. The rooms are very clean, and one of a kind; with wonderful artisan touches throughout. The breakfast was impeccable - organic local juices, the hot chocolate used 3x kinds of chocolate and will blow your mind, chef Victor’s omelette is to die for. Several ingredients in our breakfast came from Allegria’s garden. The walk down to the beach is just magical and the beach itself is breathtaking.Alegria Inn exudes Mendocino Magic everywhere you turn and we can’t wait to return!P. S. I’d recommend asking the owner Eric the history of this Inn and the love story behind it. It’s a very moving story, and made Alegria Inn even more special to us.Nearby activities: Countless restaurants all within walking distance!

What a hidden gem!!! We loved our stay for my friend's bday!!! We stayed at the Garden Cottage for 2 nights. Breakfast is included with the stay starting at 9am! Breakfast was phenomenal. One day was a sweet option of pancakes and another day was savory with an omelette and potatoes. Fresh fruit served with every breakfast. Every thing was organic and local. There was so much thought in all the details of breakfast. It was beautiful and started us off right every morning! You can always have breakfast sent to you if you'd prefer to not eat in the main house. We stayed in the Garden Cottage. Heating was adequate and the stay was so cozy! The bed was comfy. And our view was so beautiful! It was a huge surprise for us finding out there were trails and pathways down to the beach!!! We loved the walk!Eric, the InnKeeper was so kind and accommodating. The details he sends prior to check in are so thoughtful and thorough! Eric shared some recommendations which was very much appreciated! Serenity served breakfast and was so friendly. Cheers to the chef! I didn't get his name, but every meal he made was delicious!!! Every one was so friendly and kind. Thank you so much!!! We didn't want to leave. Lol.I can't emphasize enough how relaxing and amazing this stay was. Truly one of the best stays I've ever had. Algeria is also walking distance from Mendocino downtown. This was my first visit to Mendocino and it was truly memorable at Algeria Cottages!

The last time we were in Mendocino was 37 years ago for our first anniversary so we were so happy to return for our 38th! (We no longer live in CA so not as easy to get to!) Everything about our stay was wonderful! We reserved the Cove Cottage which turned out to be a great choice. Ocean view with a private deck and path to the beach. We appreciated the welcome touches like the half bottle of wine, homemade cookies, and personal note. The wood burning stove kept us warm and cozy and the inn is located on Main Street so you can park your vehicle for your entire stay and walk to shopping, restaurants, and Mendocino Headlands trails. Breakfast both mornings was sumptuous and delicious and my vegetarian diet was accommodated. Eric and Serenity were fabulous innkeepers and we hope to return again before 37 more years go by!

Close to amenities and right off the highway. The rooms are comfortable and clean, Eric and his staff and accommodating and gracious. Alergria is frequented by regulars and locals and there is a path through the garden to the beach.

Wifey and I stayed for two nights in the Pacific Suite to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, and we have only great things to say about Alegria! Coming from the Bay Area, it is a bit of a journey to get out to Mendocino, and there are twisting, winding roads, but it is absolutely worth it!This bed and breakfast is the perfect place to get away from the noise...access to a nearby beach, plenty of restaurants within walking distance, enjoying wine by the fireplace, and a chef's choice breakfast each morning...what more could we ask for?!

Love Mendocino, and this is my and my partner's "happy place"! The location has beautiful ocean views, and very peaceful. The "Tree House" room is our favorite. Although it's not ground level and rustic, it's completely private with a balcony. Has a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, wood-burning fireplace, etc. Very self-contained!Walkability: Alegria is on the main street through the middle of town. Not a long walk to see shops, etc. Some restaurants are within walking distance. There are sidewalks, but also unpaved areas.Food & drinks: We've discovered some fabulous restaurants! For unique dishes, there's Trilluim and Luna. The Mendocino Cafe also has alot of variety. Patterson's Pub is great for libations, fun atmosphere and hearty food. Their Clam Chowder is to die for! Each place has indoor and outdoor seating. The heaters keep it very comfortable outside. The food may be upscale in some restaurants, but they are all intimate and casual.

The most comfortable inn I've ever stayed in! We stayed in the Treehouse and enjoyed so many thoughtful touches: The super-comfortable bed, the fireplace all set to just throw a match on to light, a delicious snack tray, and scrumptious eggs benedict breakfast, to name just a few. Eric and Elaine have clearly put so much thought into everything over the years because the inn was perfectly relaxing, beautiful, and serene. I can see why so many other reviewers return time after time. After visiting with Eric and Elaine on the gorgeous deck overlooking the beach on our last morning and getting tips on local activities, we hiked down their private trail to the beach and set off for a great day in Mendocino. We'll definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing experience at the Algeria Ocean Front Inn. For the past 25 years I have staying down the road in the next city at the Inn at school house creek. And while they were great 25 years ago (to maybe 10-15 years after that, they got bought out numerous times along the way and slowly declined in almost every way. No more actual wood fireplaces, no more breakfasts at the cafe etc. so I finally changed my mind and looked elsewhere. I chose this place based off the reviews and what an amazing decision that was. First of all, Serenity goes above and beyond to make your stay feel as much at home as possible. From checking to see what kind of dietary restrictions you have, what kind of coffee or tea you like with the types of sweeteners or milk, refilling your fire wood the entire time, all the way down to the warm attitude and personality. I will be coming exclusively here from now on and highly recommending to all my friends and family.

My wife and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary. Most importantly I want to commend the staff for helping us find a room on such short notice. Our original plans were canceled due to smoke and fire in the area of our original destination. We did have to switch rooms but both were great. The first night we stayed in the Driftwood cottage. Which was uniquely decorated and nice. The loft was a nice tough and the mattress was like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was amazing. The second night we stayed across the street in the aloft room. Very nice, I liked this room more except for the cars going by, but it really wasn't bad. The only suggestion I have is to replace the carpet in both places. Defiantly needs to be updated. I'll stay here again.

My husband and I loved our time here! The location is perfect, we were able to walk everywhere. The property has a pretty garden, we loved the chickens and the cat roaming around. The view from our bedroom was so picturesque and peaceful, nice view to wake up to. The room itself is very comfortable, has a small kitchen area. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and stay longer!

5 stars for wonderful customer care. We had special needs because we were traveling with an infant, and Blair, the innkeeper helping us, was very responsive and helpful. Can't wait to return to Mendocino to stay at Algeria Ocean Front Inn & Cottages. For reference, we booked The Porch, for which they were able to provide a pack n play for our infant to sleep in. There is no AC in the room but that doesn't really matter because it's super cool in the Mendocino area. The location is amazing too, near the water AND downtown.
