We recently stayed in the Emerald cottage at Agate Cove. I can't say enough nice things about this inn. Everything was perfect from the friendly staff, delicious breakfast, gorgeous views and comfortable accommodations. Agate Cove is now top of our list of preferred places to stay in Mendocino. We can't wait to return!Food & drinks: The breakfast buffet is something special more than a typical included breakfast and not to be missed. Each morning in addition to the buffet there was a made to order item; french toast and pancakes during our stay. Sourdough bread, yogurt and granola all made fresh each day in addition to the hot options egg bites, potatoes, bacon, etc.

Used to be the best with old owners. Now it's below average at best. Room decor, broken lights, non-working heaters, mismatched linnens, cleanliness and food all subpar compared to past visits with the other owners. You can't beat the location, but they need to up their game on the details for me to pay the asking price.

My husband and I stayed here back in October for our anniversary, and I still find myself thinking about it. Pictures don’t do the view justice, and the owner was amazing! Will definitely stay

What a magical retreat! The view is breathtaking and Stephanie Silva is an excellent warm and personable host. Their complementary breakfast is one of the best I've had at a hotel in the US. The breakfast chef makes fabulous made to order French toast and pancakes and their buffet is served in small platters insuring freshness. Adding to this we loved the French press coffee, chia seed pudding, granola and Vermont maple syrup. Stephanie also gave us fantastic recommendations for nearby activities and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a cozy fireplace. There is a 24hr coffee and tea room with delicious freshly baked cookies. I can't wait to return to Mendocino and wont think twice about booking a room at the Agate.

Great experience at Agate Cove inn. Would definitely stay again. We were staying for my husbands birthday and they included a bottle of local wine which was a nice surprise. The breakfast was great and fresh - same with service. Rooms a little tired (specifically bathrooms) but fine/clean - could be more updated for the price. Less than a mile to town (but not walkable in my opinion, especially when the fog rolls in/after sunset). Looking forward to staying again.

[1 star for checkin]When we checked in, our door was not updated to our door code so it took us 10 min wait to enter the room.[1 star for room cleanness]When we entered, we noticed there was a torn towel at the sink and one biscuit was on the floor. Bathrobe made us feel itchy. Felt that this place is very short staffed especially during busy hours.[4 star for the view] view is great and we like the lookout from the hotel lobby. Plus we enjoyed the free wine.[2 star for the wifi] wifi instruction is clear but always disconnected automatically and had to reconnect.[3 star for the shower] shower is super confusing. 3 handles !!! and instructions was hand written and hard to read. Honestly never expect myself to learn to use how to control shower temperature at a $300+ hotel.Overall quite disappointed for our stay.

This has become our favorite Inn in Mendocino. We try to stay in the Obsidian unit so we can enjoy the magnificent view of the headlands between the Monterey cypress tree and marvel at the glorious sunsets. The rooms are always immaculate and well equipped. The breakfasts are excellent and prepared by outstanding staff.

We loved our overnight stay here on our coastal trip. It's not hard to find it right off the highway and the individual bungalow-style rooms are private and comfortable, equipped with balconies, cozy fireplaces, and large tubs--and of course an amazing view. It's an easy stroll into the town and along the coastal path. Breakfast was delicious-a buffet with homemade sourdough bread, bacon, eggs, homemade yogurt, and other tasties. The gardens are well kept and everything was lovely. A very reasonable rate for everything.

The kindest management and the worthiest stay, I have lived in a while.Must mention: I left my wallet and they were so generous to call and inform me about it while I had no idea. They went above and beyond to deliver the wallet the next day. Saved my 250 mile travel back. I would go back anytime when I get a chance just because of the kind management they have.

Good views but very poor service, our room didn't have heat entire night and it was impossible to get hold of anyone to get it fixed or change our room. We had to follow up multiple times to even get the room clean. There are many other bed and breakfasts and hotels in the area with better facilities. Staff is relatively new to this property and don't know much about how to handle stuff. They promised us some refund for the issues with the room but never got back and it's hard to catch hold of them

We had an amazing stay at the agate cove inn! We stayed in the Jasper Suite. The view was amazing, the staff so helpful and all the small touches made it so cozy! We loved sitting outside eating breakfast and then sitting on the lawn with a bottle of wine having fresh cookies. We can't wait to come back and bring family and friends!

There is an overwhelming amount of options to stay around Mendocino & I picked a good one!! We wanted an upscale but home-like feel. & that’s exactly what we got. We stayed in Moonstone, the room was quaint I loved the reading nook. Bed was so cozy & quality sheets. The robes were my fav, wow lovely!! Especially for the chilly morning. And a stunning sunset on the ocean with a glass of wine. The morning breakfast was simple yet perfect. We mingled with other couples on vacation over fresh pressed coffee.

Amazing place! Real shame we booked for one night only, we're still kicking ourselves!Great location and view, amazing cottage, roomy and functional and with a big window on the ocean to see sunset while sipping a local wine.Very friendly and helpful staff. We'll definitely come back next time in California!
