I’d give this company 0 stars if I could Horrible horrible company extremely bad customer service they are very rude they hike the prices after a month or so your things will get destroyed due to Mold. They make it extremely hard to work with them. I’d recommend hideaway storage! Good prices and good customer service.

Overpriced and not nice from my run ins w them. The young girl who works in the office in mck is awful. Over the top rude and a really unpleasant person to deal with. I’ve had a unit here for several years and they keep upping the price. Now it’s $70 for a 5x10 upstairs, what a deal…if you can, go elsewhere!

Terrible place to rent a storage unit from. Terrible customer service. Not willing to help their customers. Manager is very rude too. Longer you rent from them the more they hack your rent up each year. HIGHLY recommend choosing a different company to rent from.

Rented from them for about a year. It was around $60 a month for a decent sized clean unit. It was on the second floor but there's an elevator for your belongings. There was a time I forgot to pay and they put a lean on my account. Paid up right away and we were good to go. I kept the unit and there were no problems after that. Overall a good experience. They also sell some storage equipment in their main office.

I had a relative diagnosed with a life-ending aliment and had to take over their affairs - including a storage unit at Rainbow Storage. Living out of the area and not sure what was in it, I had to get current with payments, inventory the items and figure out what to do with the contents. When a family member is dying, and is unable to communicate what they want done with their belongings or estate AND did not leave instructions, the necessary legal machinations can be significant and time consuming. Lawyers, court hearings and investigators are called into the situation. Each entity wanted to know what my relative had in assets and what they were worth. With all this roiling about, I contacted Jeff at the McKinleyville location. Jeff was incredibly patient and helpful, always clearly communicating what he could and could not do legally and what Rainbow Storage's policies were. Jeff was incredibly professional and approachable. When Jeff retired, Alyssa took over his position in the same level-headed and friendly manner. Both Jeff and Alyssa helped me get orientated, fill out paperwork, file documents and add me to the account. They were both kind and efficient - a rarity. The McKinleyville location is off of Central Avenue, with access via keypad (both to enter and exit). The location is kept immaculately clean. There is little in the way of renters going in and out, so you can usually load or unload while blocking another unit without any problem. The office sells boxes, bubble wrap and other helpful supplies. The transfer station is 3/10 of a mile north and a shopping center is about a half mile south. It's a great location. I conducted all my transactions online, paying via the website. The website breaks if you use script, content or ad blockers. The payment module is frustrating and in need of some technical attention (you will have to enter your information twice, in two different interfaces) and the website is incredibly fussy about logging in. Email worked well when I had an issue or concern and I would suggest contacting Rainbow this way, so you always have a paper trail. Rainbow answered promptly. As to why 4 stars and not 5: Amenities. At many other storage providers, you can leave a driver's license, a $1 fee and use a cart or hand truck during your visit at your unit. Rainbow does not have any carts, dollies, or hand trucks to rent or borrow. Secondly, there is no on-site dumpster, so you have to haul everything to the nearby transfer station. Actually, there are no trash cans anywhere on premises. Third, no parking spots inside the gates. When unloading or loading, you will block someone's unit. It was never a hassle for me, but I could see this being an issue during busy times. Lastly, a porta-potty with no hand sanitizer or wash basin. It's a small thing, but would be really appreciated. If I had need to rent a storage unit in Humboldt County again, I would not hesitate to use Rainbow. They were incredibly helpful during a challenging time.

Worst place ever the manager is rude. The unit leaked and has water damage. Kim the main manager at the eureka location is very unprofessional and yelled at me after I asked her why she never returned over half a dozen phone calls to her in 2 months. Becky, Nicole, and well anyone Who works here is extremely rude and unprofessional. They all laugh at you saying that they know that the owner will never contact to you and they won't give you any way to contact the owner to make complaints about their behavior. They know that since the owner doesn't care what level of customer service people receiving they can treat you however they want. When I told Kim that I wanted to speak with the owner she told me that I would be receiving in a eviction notice but I laughed at her told her that I was already moving out. The owner osment care about his customers don't rent here.
