I don't write reviews but this one needs to be done. I came here for an outpatient procedure. The receptionist at the spine clinic was darling and very helpful. I can tell she was trying her hardest to help me through this nightmare. The day before a nurse called me to go over the procedure and protocole. On the phone she stated I needed a driver to take me home. I said I will have my husband picking me up. Never this person stated my husband needs to be physically here for the check in. Otherwise, I would have asked my husband to stay with me before the surgery. My husband dropped me off on time and drove down to take our children to school. Yes people don't have family around so they rely on their spouse. And no they don't offer anything over the phone for transport. They drop that on you the day of the surgery. Anyways, the sweet receptionist understood my issue and told me to move to the procedure area. She told me she notified people there my driver wasn't present. I waited 1 hour there and nobody came to me or asked me anything. I finally saw a nurse coming in and I asked about my case. Rudely she said no driver no procedure and my surgery would be canceled. I started crying at this point as I was very tired and fasting. Of course 0 compassion here. She told me to wait here and the manager will be out to talk to me. I waited again and nobody showed up. I moved back to the spine clinic and saw again this sweet receptionist. She was chocked nobody talked to me after an hour and nobody was taking care of me. The manager finally showed up because this amazing receptionist voiced a concern. The manager let me tell you has no compassion, care, or understands how to treat people with kindness. He told me he would not move a protocole for a person and I was aware of it. I told him I was aware I needed a driver but not having the person physically here for checking in. While I was waiting multiple people had to call back their drivers. I can tell you the job is not done correctly. My husband tried to come back but the manager after another 20 min wait told me my surgery was canceled because my surgeon had a full schedule. As an educated person, I understand the time of the surgeon and I respect it. And also, there are others people who need help. However, there I am with my medical condition driving back home without another date and time. Surgery is hard, painful, stressful, and so much planning. You don't expect when you come in to be treated as poorly. You are hopeful for kindness and compassion. I felt I was an inconvenience and the problem. I work in healthcare and I would never and ever treat someone as I was treated today. I really need this surgery but after this experience I don't think I will go back. I love Kaiser and I never had an issue before this one. I always defend Kaiser but now I get why people leave.

I will start by stating that I had a very successful experience with ophthalmology surgical staff at Martinez. Skilled, caring and experienced. T Thank you. Other than than, though, I am incredibly frustrated and stressed with KP. First of all, it's difficult to navigate Martinez site. Signs point to numbered buildings, but we are directed to respective building by name. When I went for a physical therapy appointment, I could only find parking at the bottom of a hill; trudged up a hill with bad knees (this is what the PT is for). The therapist said they liked the location on the hill because it's so pretty. I'm glad it's nice for the employees. Never mind the patients. Patients must stand in line twice for pharmacy; once to check in; second time to get Rx. Why don't' they use a numbered system, like the local butcher counter at the grocery store? When I went for a COVID booster, it was at the time when seniors and others with compromised health conditions were given priority The line had about 30 people in it. So basically, a bunch of old and/or sick people had to stand in line (which wasn't yet moving), even though they had an appointment. When I explained that I could not stand for a long period, the receptionist shrugged. I then went to Safeway grocery store for my booster; no line. Finally, I have been trying for 5 days to get an urgent appt with my primary care provider. I sent 2 emails. I left a message. Her assistant then sent me an email asking me to schedule an appt. That's what I've been trying to do. So today, the on- call doctor sent an urgent message to doctor to call me. She did not. Now it's the weekend. Fighting a condition for over a year; the whole idea of primary care physician is to help patient manage care. Yet I have dealt with about 15 different doctors over the past year, many of whom offer conflicting guidance. Kaiser cannot handle the patient load; too few staff and too few doctors. The doctors' panels are exploding with too many patients. Yet they keep advertising for more enrollees.

The pharmacy line went very smoothly ,the breast cancer dept is kind of cold and impersonal. They could use some sweet volunteers like me Love Kate Young

There is no published map of the Kaiser Martinez campus, and no list of building names by department. The campus is spread out on different levels with multiple buildings with the same address. The lack of information on building location makes it difficult to plan where to park when you have multiple appointments in different buildings. Some appointment reminders come without a building name, and there is no way to look up a building name from a department list. Most other Kaiser campuses have maps online, don't understand why Martinez thinks they don't need one. I am not a regular patient there so it's really annoying when I am forced to use this facility,

If you don't say how high the minute they say, "jump," at the pharmacy, here, they put you back in line. No humanity at the pharmacy. If you don't know how to give customer service to sick people, please find another job :) Another inexcusable example of how Kaiser's healthcare system has gone downhill since COVID.

Last Wednesday, we met and I love this lady - Mrs. Kathy Jones in the Digital library Radioology department of Kaiser Martinez. She is so professional, efficient, full of compassion, and great customer service. She listens and works so hard, she is doing things out of her way to help me and my son. I hope her supervisor will see this review. Our family are so touched and impressed.

Went to get an EKG. Sadly, the waiting area for the EKG overlaps with the line for Covid vaccination. Recently vaccines were opened up for babies over six months to age 5. So of course there were about 15 or 20 children in line, and many of them were unmasked. I understand babies and young children can't wear a mask. I would guess that most people there for EKG are seniors that really don't need exposure to unvaccinated, unmasked children. Given that the reason for my EKG is pre-op for a badly needed surgery, I don't appreciate so much exposure to unvaccinated, unmasked children right before my surgery. I have asthma and really don't appreciate the dense exposure to unmasked, unvaccinated people when I have been extremely careful. At a very minimum there should be multiple HEPA grade air filters in the area to filter out the air from unvaccinated, unmasked children. It is unacceptable to allow a congregation of unvaccinated, unmasked children in the same area as the EKG. Also, the signage in front of the Ensenada building is wrong. It says that EKG is in the Hacienda building, but it is obviously in the Ensenada building because that's where I took my EKG. I expect this review to be ignored.

The first receptionist that I checked in with was completely rude. I can't even believe that she would be working at a hospital. She is the first person you'll see sitting at the Ensenada 3rd floor desk right next to the elevator. People come to the hospital when they're sick and need help not to put up with your attitude. Luckily you were hiding your name tag otherwise I could have put you on here. I saw someone else took a pic of your associate and post her up, I should have done the same. The doctor who saw me rushed me out within a couple of minutes. Barely asked me anything and did not care at all. Dr Wong. I'm sure you're being paid more than well enough to not care about the people who make your paycheck. The nurse was the only bright spot here.

What a dumpster fire here! ATTN: C-suite level pricks. Stop worrying about your bonuses and HIRE! You have a line out the door of your pharmacy, yet you choose to have 1-2 cashiers there. Every day, all day. You have 6 stations available, why? You never fill them. We are the most drug addicted nation on the planet. So stop being cheap losers and have all 6 waiting to help people, each day, everyday. Your bloated bonuses wont be affected that much. For those of you going here to pick up a prescription, build in 1 hour! I was in the front of the line and stood there for 20min+. It's embarrassing for a multi billion dollar company to be so cheap.

Had a video appt with Dr. Kenton Lin Chung for symptoms I was experiencing. Once our appt started, it was normal and I was just describing symptoms and informed him my rapid test was negative. He told me just to monitor myself the next few days, but recommended I take their test for a more accurate reading. The whole appt lasted maybe 5-7 mins. He tried ending it by saying, "I'll have my nurse call you back to setup the test appt. I have to run." I said, "Well, wait. Can I raise some concerns I have?" But in the middle of that short question, he raised his hand up to the camera as if to "shush" me and said, "Okay make it quick. I have to run" EXCUSE ME!?! I apologize for the inconvenience I caused you, my health care provider with raising concerns of my health. This man is extremely rude! I began explaining anyway that I have a symptoms that are similar in nature to very serious health conditions (like diabetes, CKD or Cancer) and I tried explaining that I have a family history of this ailments and what does he do? Interrupts me AGAIN and says, "Yeah these are better addressed in person. Let's get you tested and then we can talk about scheduling you for an in person visit. I have to run now. I have a lot of patients" that last line sent me over! I was so mad I just said thanks and hung up. What a joke. The man seems more interested in a paycheck than actual care. Smh

Just an update to my previous review, as I've been seeing doctors here for a couple years now. That still offer poor care, don't seem to want to do any work, and every aspect of getting care is a struggle (when it does happen). I get better care for free at Martinez VA than the care I *pay for* at Kaiser.

Despite Kaiser infamous reputation, the nurses and doctors are very respectful and helpful in so many ways. BUT, there are always certain workers there that ruin it for Kaiser. Finding your way around Kaiser is difficult, so when I went to the Hacienda building yesterday I was sure i was in the wrong place. I went to ask the nurse at the front door taking temperatures to look into where im supposed to be because i was sure i was in the wrong place. The male nurse at the front basically rudely interrupted just about yelling at me to go back to the SPC room. Cutting me off as im trying to explain to the LADY who was already helping me earlier. Again, rudely telling me i didnt know whst i was talking, without letting me speak, and told me rudely to go back to the waiting room. And so i ended up being more late because the assistant who came back into the wait room after 15 -20mins, confirmed I was in the wrong place. Please hire respectful nurses who listens because i made it very clear what procedure i was there for, and the guy at the front treated me as if I was getting an attitude or just personally annoyed him, when I was only trying to show my email with a different building (Cerritos) name on it.

I just had my COVID vaccine done today what a wonderful experience. I came in super anxious and nervous about the whole thing but nurse Alejandra was super kind and helpful through the whole process she made me feel like I could trust her on taking the vaccine. Jason who checked me explained the whole process to me and reassured me that I was in good hands. The process was so smooth I was in and out of there in less than 30 mins.
