Don’t come to the Ulta Beauty Salon if you want a good Blowout, They will charge you $50 just to blow out your hair and then an extra $27 just to make it look like you would get at dry bar with the heat styling And it never looks as good as when it’s done at Dr bar. And the stylist refused to do my hair after I told her that I didn’t appreciate that they charged so much and I was literally there the week before and no one told me that it would cost extra for that. Also no indication when I booked online, that I would have to pay extra. don’t waste your money here if you want a really nice Blowout.

One of the largest, cleanest and well organized Ulta Beauty stores I have been in. The sales staff were very helpful and friendly.
We got lucky and were there during a sale.
Great Ulta! Thank you.

I absolutely love this location! My favorite part about the store is the Salon! The receptionist Brianna was especially helpful and friendly. She helped me find all the products I wanted and helped me create a new hair routine THAT ACTUALLY WORKS! Also the manager Lelo was incredibly sweet and just brings up the mood throughout the entire store! I’ll never shop at another Ulta.

My experience today was terrible.
I’m a black female customer. My assigned black female hairstylist was incredibly slow. I had to tell her to wash my hair a second time. She was going to put me under the dryer for a deep condition with only 1 wash (gross and poor customer service).
She blew dry my hair terribly, which left it course at the roots. It was 10x more course than when I walked in the salon (Which says it all about her poor skills in blow drying). I could tell the air was cold in her blow dryer too, and because she was slow and a bad blow dryer my hair was not only partly wet but was nappy all around. Putting a flat iron to my wet hair could’ve burned me or my hair off.
I kindly asked her to use a large brush instead of the comb in the dryer in efforts to speed up the drying and straighter out my roots more. She said the dryer comb is what she always used. I kindly asked her again. She stormed off and let me sit in the chair with wet hair (Again, unprofessional and immature). The manager (Who is very kind), told me the stylist was upset and refused to do my hair after having me sit in the chair for 8 minutes waiting for her. I walked out with wet hair. Very immature and unprofessional. I could tell immediately this black female stylist was new to this profession and not used to dealing with client requests in a hair salon environment. She was egotistical and insecure about an adult client requesting a different brush and extra wash. If she was a professional, she'd know to wash more than one time and to use a big brush with black hair if the blow dryer isn't hot and she needs to get to the roots to prevent it from being nappy. She's not skilled in black hair at all. She needs more experience and training.
I’m done with Ulta. They have unprofessional services in multiple LA locations. It doesn’t take 30 minutes to blow dry black hair (An asinine assumption or claim to make). I’m a 35-year-old woman who’s been getting her hair done monthly since I was 10-years-old. I don't need a white stylist also telling me over the phone, that it takes 30 minutes to blow dry black hair that's course (Again, this is 100% a false statement). I’ve had thousands of hair stylists throughout my lifetime (I know how long it should take to effectively blow dry black female hair at the shoulder length). I’ve had it all and seen it all. I can tell within the first 10 minutes if my hair stylist will do my hair properly.
Reading other poor reviews also says a lot about this location (Very similar to others too). After my experience, I went to a black owned salon with a black woman who's been doing black hair for years. I was out in 1 hour and it took her 30 minutes in total to wash and blow dry my hair; and 30 minutes to silk press and flat iron my entire head (It came out beautifully). My stylist was detailed but fast because they had experience doing black heads for years. The blow dryer was hot (which is crucial for black hair), my hairstylist used a big brush to get out the kinks at the roots while they blow dried which speed up the drying process but also was efficient in removing the naps at my scalp (It air dried really bad, due to the stylist at this Ulta location), and this new black stylist made sure to wash my hair 2x before blow drying my scalp. She wanted to make sure my head was fully clean (This is black hair styling 101).
In conclusion, this Ulta Beauty location doesn’t have quality & experienced black stylists. I would advise people to seek black stylists at black owned salons instead. In fact, stay away from Ulta salons all together. I question some of the experience-level of certain stylists at these salons. I believe many just left school and haven't experienced working with clients in a salon for many, many years. However, the manager Leeloo at the Marina del Rey location is incredibly kind, professional, and customer driven.

The staff is friendly, the parking lot is spacious, and men's cosmetics are also available. There is a restroom inside

This is a review specifically for Maria P. - master stylist at the Ulta Salon. She is wonderful! Total fluke that I ended up with her for a last minute blowdry and I got so lucky. She is knowledgeable, knew how tame my very coarse hair and just had the best bed-side manner. This was really one of the best wavy blowouts I've had in a really long time. You also can't beat Ulta's prices for a blow-out, without up-charging, especially for an expensive area such as Marina del Rey. I'm almost reluctant to post this review because I don't want Maria to get too busy to take me in the future. :)

Amara helped me build a basket with what I needed and even the product that is best selling and of good quality, and she provided top-of-the line service.

I just redeemed my point for a supersonic dyson and the Ulta advisors were so friendly and nice! They told me about the Ultra credit card benefits that I wasn't aware of. I had to sign up! Wish I could write a review for Amara and the other young lady who helped me! They were AMAZING!

Kailah Lee is simply the best. Where to begin: She is an intuitive about your hair needs. Listens to client's concerns and knows how to cut! Never over or underdoes what's discussed in advance. She's a true artist as well as a lovely person. A joy to spend time with. I felt an instant rapport with her and have sent 4 friends, neighbors and family members to her, all very happy with their results.

The salon needs a manager to monitor hair stylists. None of these stylists should be left alone! They are basically practicing each and every time.
Mark gave me a keratin treatment that took most of my hair out. I came in for a trim and he upsold me to a treatment I really didn’t need. Profit over people, he’s motivated my money. He could care less about hair textures or anything.
Kayla tried twice to cover grays. I ended up with ash black hair washing me out and then more color in my hair than when I started. The guessing over which color should equate to which hair type means to me more classes and practice on mannequins.
And to be honest, for the prices, you can go elsewhere and have one to one, quality treatment. I will NEVER go to this salon.
