I loved this place!! The hotel was litterally the best part of our stay! The marina view was so entertaining. Watching ppl play volley ball was very cool. The Cheesecake Factory is right beside the hotel - very good! Nicely priced and awesome for takeout to eat on our large private patio and ppl watch. The beds are super comfy and the blankets are plush and clean. Parking is convenient and free! I definitely would recommend this place..

Had a good stay at Foghorn Harbor Inn for my first two nights in Los Angeles. I didn't want to have to drive too far after an international flight, and it was an easy 10 minute drive from LAX.
I didn' experience any of the problems mentioned in other reviews. Room key was available, and there was hot water. I agree that the rooms need updating. However, the room was clean and comfortable and offered a peaceful night's sleep. Tea, coffee and hot water are available in reception, and the microwave in the room allows making hot drinks too.
The location and price are the best things about this hotel. You can explore the Venice canals and beach on foot, and we even walked all the way to Santa Monica and back. It's cheaper than other hotels near the beach and has plenty of free parking.

Pros: Location, restaurants in walking distance, and a short ride to Venice Beach or to Santa Monica, where you can catch the train to LA. I would recommend that!! It's cheap, and you don't sit in traffic!
A few very friendly and helpful staff members.
It was quiet at night, except for one night when some guests decided to party. Not the hotel's fault, and the lady at the front desk took care of it, thank you!!!
The view from the balcony is great! Except when you have a woman staying in the room below you, and she decides to present herself butt naked on the balcony ?
Cons: I've never stayed at a hotel where disinfectants are used as excessively as in this hotel. When we arrived, it took my breath away, literally. I have to say that I'm allergic to fragrance and I have asthma. But even my husband said that the smell was nauseating.
So, please, be aware of that.
Forget about watching TV after a busy day sightseeing. I don't know what kind of antenna they are using, but we couldn't even get local channels to watch the news. Thank God for cell phones and the Internet!
Ripped and stained sheets and towels...should really be replaced!
Furniture could use some updating.
AC/heat is a window unit. I wished I could have turned the heat on because it was quite chilly, but I didn't dare. It did not look clean, the "clean filter" light was on, too.
No coffee maker, but the hotel provided instant coffee and bottled water that we heated in the microwave. It was ok, but not what I would expect these days.
To sum it up, it is an affordable place to stay in Marina del Rey, but don't expect anything enjoyable, it's just ok.
I do not understand how someone could say "spacious, modern rooms". They are not.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel Wednesday evening, we ask if we could switch rooms. The staff were very professional and respectful. They moved us to another room the next day with no problem. Great location very peaceful and calm environment with outstanding staff members. We left the following week, I realized when I returned home, my ring was missing. I contacted the hotel, they immediately checked the room we were staying in and notified me that it was located. They assisted me with having it sent back to my address. I want to thank everyone there, amazing staff.

The interior is functional, but as mentionend in other commets not the lastest standard. For the price, we expected a little bit more, but you pay for the location, not the room, so overall an ok experience for one night. Other hotels nearby cost double.
Perfect place for strolling venice beach an the canals.

The location of the hotel is great. It's a bit old hotel. Sand and sea in front. The price and performance are very good.
Rooms: The rooms are old.
Nearby activities: There are volleyball courts and a walking path right in front of it.
Safety: It's a safe place.
Walkability: Very good
Noteworthy details: There is parking and it is free

I can’t praise this hotel enough, the staff were beyond friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate and help us, the room was lovely and the view perfect, 10/10 for value for money

Your paying for the location. Don’t plan on sleeping in here. By a noisy road and grounds keepers will wake you up.

The rooms were very different than in the photos. The bathroom was terrible and there were no hot water. We asked to change room so they transferred us to the rooms in the basement but the rooms were having a very bad smell. I would never recommend to stay at this hotel

Walkability: Close to Venice beach.

Very old place, rusty, heater not working, no Iron, broken door locks, dirty and list goes on and on. It was a nightmare. You can tell how the management is careless about its customers when you don't see a reply for the reviews. Only good part was nice lady at the front desk.

Rooms are dated, like air conditioner the one in wall and walls very thin. Another person complained about water temp (everyone probably using at same time) but if you use a bit earlier not much of a problem.
Beds are comfortable and clean, microwave and fridge in room. The hotels website is also outdated, there is no continental breakfast or shuttle to airport. Parking is included. There’s direct beach access too.
Staff is Californian type of kind and polite, very casual but not rude whatsoever.
Price wise, was great!!!

The staff here were good people with great attitude and willing to help. They have a n outstanding person to work for in Margaret Sowa.. She is making changes and great strives there at foghorn and i'm looking for my next stay there. Great scenery as well.beachy..
Rooms: My room was very clean, cozy , quiet and been very comfy with great long pillows and soft comforter.

Great motel, great location, great service! Very clean, spacious, modern rooms with balconies or patios overlooking beautiful Marina del Rey. Beach front with playground, volleyball & water activities. There is free parking & a nice selection of restaurants nearby. There was a problem with my online reservation & the staff quickly resolved the problem. The staff has been very helpful, personable & accommodating. I will stay here again.
