“Cute shop that's much bigger than you think! Loaded with records and antiques. One could easily spend hours wandering around here looking at things, records, or petting the store cat.”

“Alan did a beautiful job refinishing my dining table, and had it finished even sooner than promised. His price was fair and he worked with me to scale the project to my budget. I am delighted with the quality of the work, he removed years of damage from my table. See before and after photo. He was also easy to get ahold of for quotes and scheduling. Highly recommend!”

“I was desperately trying to find somebody to re-cane a beautiful mid century chair that my cats had torn to shreds. I searched high and low, and couldn't find anyone to fix it, until a vintage shop in Atwater recommended this place. I am so excited and happy that they did. I brought my chair in and they gave me a very reasonable estimate. The owner and the people that work there are very friendly, but more importantly, they do amazing work. My chair looks absolutely stunning! It looks exactly like it looked before my cats got to it. This place is amazing!”

“Having never been engaged, nor in need a jeweler before, Excalibur came highly recommended by Eileen at Pepi's via a close friend. I just needed my ring resized and when I say they went above and beyond, I'm not giving them enough credit. I called on Friday and, while they don't take appointments on Saturday, they suggested we just pop in. We went when they opened and were helped by Max right away. They even said it would be ready by end of day! So we walked down the street to eat when I received a call from Kurt, the owner: there was a major problem with my ring. We walked back to the store and not only did Kurt explain what happened and our options, but he took the time from whatever he was clearly working on to sit down with us, provide some excellent education and help us make a decision. By 5pm, we were headed back to Excalibur to pick up my ring, which is now more beautiful than I thought possible. I have been staring at the sparkles ever since and my face hurts from smiling. Being in customer service, myself, I found Max and Kurt to be top-notch. They genuinely cared about our issue and helped us make an informed decision. I would recommend them to anyone needing help with jewelry and would give them all the stars if I could, except the ones that are on my finger! :) Thanks, you guys!!”

“I love this place. The first time they fixed my lamp it was pretty pricey because they had to pretty much rebuild it, and they made it more sturdy. And that also meant that this more recent time I brought it in to fix it (my fault) it was SUPER CHEAP because it was their parts so they had replacements. He fixed it right on the spot out back. We had very nice, light conversation while he fixed it. I will always take my business here. I appreciate this place so much! Otherwise I would have had to replace my beautiful lamp instead of repairing it over time.”

“Shopping at Memento Mori is like a journey into a world of darkness and beauty. I have been visiting the store for about a year now and have never been disappointed with their selection. From unique artwork to interesting decor and dark novelties, they have something for everyone. Every time I visit the store, I feel like I am discovering something new and exciting. Memento Mori is Los Angeles' most excellent gift store for dark novelties, art and decor is supremely artistic, beautifully curated and always strikingly original.”

“This store is just Fantastic, very cool and interesting items to purchase in here. This store has a lot of laboratory equipment and machines that were used in a lot of films. The store owner is very knowledgeable about each prop. If the door seems to be locked, just knock and the store owner will let you in. I highly recommend stopping here. I'll definitely stop here again. I did buy an item here. On street parking is limited but, there is a paid parking lot one block over. Well worth the trip here.”

“I found this place while dining down the street. This is a unique find with a huge inventory of collectibles and antiques. As most antique malls do, each area is filled by individual vendors. It is a large two story type house with so many booths filled to the brim with antiques of all kinds including clothes, collectibles, housewares, decor and more. It is a bit overwhelming and difficult to navigate, The stairs to the second level are rickety. I found the holiday type decor to be overpriced in my opinion. However, many of the other booths have reasonable prices and are offering 20% off right now. I made some great finds to add to my extensive hand painted ivy dish set. We also found a wonderful Rummikub type game called rummy tiles in a case similar to a backgammon case for travel. I also found some great framed watercolors and old photograph of the local area as well as a wonderful vintage black beaded purse which will make excellent gifts for my daughter. I will be going back to take a hard look at the Tiffany type lamps that were there. You can't be in a hurry as the checkout process does take a bit of time since every booth has a different pricing system. Right now the street parking is free to encourage holiday shopping and dining during the month of December. If you are looking for a unique holiday shopping excursion, you should stop here and take a look.”

“Hunter Gatherer is a remarkable vintage gem on Washington Boulevard. Here you can find everything from jewelry, books, furniture, textiles, trinkets and more... the perfect spot to find fixtures for a bohemian space or rare and unique gifts for friends. Carla, the owner, has a strong knowledge and passion for researching vintage pieces, as well as recognizing their origin and value. I particularly love the beautiful kimonos she finds and sells here; the fabrics are bright with interesting textures, perfect for festivals, costuming, or just styling one-of-a-kind outfits. If you have a passion for vintage, don't skip out on this Mid City gem.”

“Do not decorate anything without a visit to this place for yuo will find there not just the inventory but the most discerning mind, a romantic heart and a pair of eyes that see beyond obvious. “Walking through the crowded aisles is like walking through that warehouse at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Whether or not you are looking for something in particular, you will find something here... Actually you will find many "somethings" as this place is a cornucopia of interesting items. Mid-century modern furniture seems to be in abundance, but turn of the century cuckoo clocks, lamps, and pretty much anything else you can imagine are yours to find; Just make sure you have a few hours to actually go through the isles, this is not a place for a cursory review. Staff is great. As for value... what is the value of a treasure?”

“Kwak did a really incredible job restoring my antique victorian chair and loveseat! He completely took them apart and repaired them so precisely and skillfully. He is very detail oriented and I don’t believe anyone else could have repaired them so well and for such a fair price. The craftsmanship is beautiful. He reupholstered and repaired the furniture. He and his wife are very nice, kind and honest people. Such a pleasure to work with them.”

“We brought in a heavily-tarnished Christofle Vertigo 3-Part Server that had been left outside for probably a year. Needless to say it was in desperate need of some professional TLC (or, in this case, CPR!) . Well, our guy Pablo took one look at it and said with supreme confidence that it would be ready in a week. Sure enough, one week later- presto-whamo- the piece looks as good as new. This shoebox-sized establishment has been in business since the early 60's and you can easily miss it as it's located on a busy intersection (Third & FFX) across the street from Trader Joes, but it's well worth seeking out. Heartily recommended.”

“Samuel literally has a showcase of the most beautiful rugs I have ever seen all under one roof. Samuel's Rug Gallery also provide services like repairs, cleaning, and maintenance. Fantastic service. To find authentic, luxury Persian rugs for a reasonable price is very rare. We bought two Persian rugs that transformed our home. I got a third rug for my office. It looks warm and rich with the dark office furniture, exactly what we wanted in our office space. We are thrilled.”

“The COOLEST place in L.A. to see movie and television memorabilia! First of all, it’s amazing they even let you in the door and casually walk around this gigantic warehouse full to the brim with props from television and movie history. All is for rent, nothing is for sale, but prepare to have the time of your life just walking around and taking it all in! Wow! So much fun!”
