El Matador State Beach is one of the prettiest beaches in the county, known for its gorgeous and stunning views. It features dramatic cliffs, big rocks poking out of the ocean, unique rock formations, and sea caves that make it feel almost otherworldly, cinematic, and romantic. This hidden gem is particularly popular for photo sessions, offering a breathtaking and ideal backdrop. Access to the beach is somewhat challenging, involving a steep trail and stairs, so it is a bit of a hike down. The parking lot at the entrance is way too small, making parking a challenge, but street parking is available for those willing to walk. It is best to visit at low tide to explore more. While beautiful, the beach has very sharp rocks, making it difficult and potentially dangerous to swim. Despite these challenges, with its beautiful scenic views and peaceful vibe, it is totally worth the visit and the drive.
Beautiful parking in the beach lot is a challenge but parking on the street is available if you are willing to walk. gorgeous views access is somewhat challenging if you cannot navigate steep stairs.

El Matador was a really cool beach to visit. I loved the big rocks poking out of the ocean. The parking lot is way too small so be prepared to wait. It felt like a lot of people were coming and going, which eventually opened up a parking stall.
