I can't praise enough Doug Busch for tremendous help during our home improvement decision-making process. He's always been ready to give good advice and to come with practical, constructive solutions. I would recommend him to anyone and hire him again for all architectural needs in the future.

I've been working with Doug and Lori Busch for the past two months, and I'm in awe of their work. They're a joy to collaborate with, and I'm especially thrilled to learn about their dedication to building sustainable and healthy homes. As a mother to a young child, I'm especially interested in adding a "sanctuary room" (or rooms) to our home in the future, free of environmental toxins.

Busch Design Build has wonderful architectural concepts. Doug designed my husband’s studio. He is knowledgeable in all forms of construction, and my husband’s demands were not only met, but exceeded his expectations. Twenty years later, my husband loves what Doug did as much as he did when it was first completed. That’s great design!

In 2006, I had the pleasure of having Doug and his team remodel my home from start to finish. He designed and expanded the home from 1,300 square feet to 2,400. The original home was a 1940's typical home. I asked him to convert it to an Asian modern home with living space outside. The house is exactly what I asked for. Smooth finish outside. wood and stone inside. Gorgeous... The yard is like nothing you have seen with a beautiful pool as the central focus point and multi-tiered entertainment space surrounding it. 14 years later the house is still beautiful and structurally sound. Every one who comes here can't believe how beautiful the place is. If you want a sophisticated home, and top craftsmanship with an eye for detail I can't say enough about Doug's work.

It's hard not to love the incredibly creative mind of Douglas Busch and his team. With the utmost professionalism, Doug is able to turn your ideas into a reality while assisting in every step of the way. He and his team are talented, reliable, and most of all, dedicated. You just can't go wrong with choosing them to renovate your home.

Doug and his team did a complete renovation of our house, adding a second floor and redesigning the entire property. We could not have been more pleased. He's so talented and was a wonderful person to work with. He was open to changes and found many ways for us to save money during the process. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Working with Doug was an adventure in creativity. Nothing was impossible...including working within our budget. He walked us through our home redesign with patience and persistence, and he exuded confidence and mastery over every aspect of our project. With his guidance, we were able to remodel a dark 1950s house into a contemporary home full of light. And one of the most remarkable aspects of our experience was that once we began demolition, we were back in our completed home within 6 months...right on schedule and with no delays. Doug stayed the course with us and with all the construction teams to ensure that we were all properly prepared before any physical work began, and that we all met our deadlines. He was like a maestro conducting an orchestra of moving construction elements. With Doug at the helm we knew we would be safe, taken care of, and would end up with an incredible place to live (and that is exactly what happened!). Thank you!

Doug Busch did not just renovate our house in Santa Monica. He brilliantly reconceived it. He thought about flow and light in ways I could not have imagined, about the relationship between indoors and out, about functionality, and of course about beauty, and modernity, and about how rooms create privacy or bring families together. He was a joy to work with, in that I loved his ideas and also the fact that he never tried to override our own taste in art or vintage furniture or our huge library. His workers were terrific; I trusted them with my keys. Their carpentry was true craftsmanship. It broke our hearts to sell that house; it worked for us in fantastic ways and was a pleasure to look at from every angle, and to live in. Doug's wife, Lori Bruce Busch, designed the extraordinary kitchen, working with me closely. She had great ideas, knew how kitchens worked, and also helped me execute my own vision. We ultimately moved across the country and I wish we could afford to have flown them to New York to design our next home. I would work with them again in California in a heartbeat. May I also say, with all due respect, that I'm wary of the Yelp review that refers to "messy" and "shoddy" work. Yes, we also had an estimate on cost that ran over--because I kept making changes and upgrades--but *every* reno I've done has gone over estimate. I've visited a number of homes that Doug has built on spec--he is a design-build specialist--and they struck me as beautifully crafted. I'm not a construction expert. But I did write six books on interior design under my professional name, Dylan Landis, and have covered hundreds of gorgeous houses for top design magazines. The quality of Doug Busch's work struck me as exacting and thoughtful and clean.

I'm a contractor myself, and have seen it all in this town. Honesty, Integrity to start with, innovative, forward thinking to get you going, and knowledge and experience to bring you home... That's what you'll get with Busch Design. Doug and Lori are a gift. If you're realistic with expectations and budget and communicate everything you want, need and hope for, don't change your minds a million times without expecting that to cost more and take longer and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quick and efficient they are at getting the job done. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

If I could give 0 stars I would! Doug is a talker and never was direct on pricing. When we asked multiple times on the cost of a job he gave us a number, then sent a bill for double the cost. He's slimy in my opinion and his team did a very shoddy job. I'm extremely disappointed for the high cost, the quality of work was really messy. Hire a good sub contractor and don't bother with Busch Design.

Working with Doug Busch on our home reconstruction was an amazing adventure. He took two people interested in his advice on how to go green by upgrading a 55-year old home's windows through an adventure of possibilities never before considered.
