My pet returned for a follow up visit as scheduled for part 2 of a 2 part new puppy vaccination series. The Vet refused service unless we paid for an additional checkup fee of $35 for Heart Worms since my dog just turned 7 months old. I am on a fixed income and did not have the additional funds. The Vet said "oh well" and we had to leave. Now my pet has only a half a vaccination series and the original funds paid wasted. Oddly, this "checkup" was not required for part 1 of the series nor was it mentioned when they scheduled the return visit. This is a Hidden Charge that equates to Blackmail. The belief is "Pay more or you won't get the second dose to make it complete, requiring you to start over elsewhere."

Went in to get a cat tree and some litter for my kittens. The prices for 2+ level cat trees are insane, nothing below $120... so i opted for a plastic toy/light up ball (that I thought was $10) and 30 lb of litter. My total was $47.50. For two items. Ridiculous. Also no one offered us any help until we got to the register.

The grooming department is terrible! Totally unprofessional and do not notify you when your appointment has been cancelled. I took time off of work to take my dog in and was never notified my appointment was cancelled. Are you kidding me?! I will not be going back to this location EVER and I suggest you all do the same! If I could give zero stars I would!

Just to start this out my boyfriend gets back from Petco because they're out of crickets I call not knowing they close at 9:00 pm answer my call while I'm on the phone they spelled out my name I kept saying hello hello no answer just them talking in the background but the main thing is they're always out of crickets said they had enough for they're animals but couldn't sell me any I don't understand so who is the manger they said Paul not Debbie???

Yesterday I went to Petco and was greeted by a Santa taking photo's with two super-cute yorkie's. The store looked great and I was excited to be there as were quite a few other customers. Then why only one star (again)? The fish department hasn't changed from my last visit. First off I stood there for a good 5 or 10 minutes--no employee in site. And there was a wet floor sign sitting in the middle of a large puddle that you had to walk through to get into the fish department. I finely found someone who worked there and asked if she could catch a fish for me. As we walked through the puddle of water I commented on it so she threw some towels down. I pointed to the fish I wanted and she grabbed the cup they use to put the fish in before they bag them. Then she took water from the tank next to the tank with the fish I wanted. OK that's how diseases are spread not to mention water temperature differences. I told her they had A LOT of dead fish (at least one in each tank), she said, "Yeah I need to go through some tanks". WOW--HATE IT!! Fish are living creatures who depend on you to control their whole environment and that's a big responsibility! Why do people look at fish like their just a disposable pet?

Dog training - Let me begin with accolades for Ron the dog trainer. He has been great and the limited time I have had my dog at Petco, he has been great. My issue is, I purchased a prong collar at that Petco for my dog to train with, the reason being he slips his collar and is somewhat aggressive around other dogs due to his fear anxiety. For my liability and I think Petco would concur (but apparently not) for their liability, it is a smarter choice. Due to internal store issues, I was told I most likely won't be able to use the prong collar any longer a couple weeks ago and if that was my choice I would receive a refund.. I have not been able to be in class for two weeks due to my work schedule. I showed up yesterday for class. When I arrived at class, I was told absolutely not on the prong collar, but the manger had recently left the store and the interim was not giving refunds. I left my phone number yesterday and received a call from the interim manager, who indeed told me I will not receive a refund. I have not completed my dog's classes there and feel a refund is due, since Petco will not allow me to use a training tool with my dog I prefer for liability. Petco you are in breach of your contract. I have called the corporate office and filed a grievance, so will go from there.

Our regular groomer moved out of state and we shopped around a bit until we tried Petco. We will be returning for regular grooming. I love the option for zippy grooming(no kennel time) Trisha was so friendly and professional. She answered all of my questions. I was very comfortable leaving my pet Sammi with her. And her haircut looked great!!

I'm not big on leaving reviews, but I want to say thank you to Jacob for been so patient and answering every question I have also kudos because his customer service was exceptional, even when I keep changing my mind is food brand for the dog. Also to Christine in the front check out thank you

There's a lot of things that I like about this place. Love the animals. The kittens and puppies. The varieties of different pet food. Prices are decent and employees are very helpful. Just wish there was more exotic fish like better koi. More animals to look at or choose from. Would definitely had given them a 5.

Today (6/14/18) I went in to petco (Madera) to buy a goldfish, I went to the fish area and waited. A lady was there with her two kids and the employee helped with 20 feeder goldfish and went and checked them out. I was still standing there waiting for her to come back and help me, she just looked at me and went in to a room up front. This has happened more than once. I live a mile away, but I think I'm better off going to Fresno or Merced than go through this again.

I've been to many other pet food suppliers and yet I always find myself back at petco. I feed my cats solid gold antioxidant blend which again I've searched other pets stores for and have yet been able to find. I've just recently started ordering my dog food online and having it ship directly to my house. Shipping is free! I buy the 30lb nutro ultra senior formula for my 9 year old pit bull and my 6 year old American bulldog. Petco didn't offer the 30lb so Debbie the manager let me order from the store tablet. Now I'm hooked on just having it shipped you even get a discount for signing up for repeat orders. I also get cat litter, toys, wet food, frozen raw, refrigerated fresh food & training accessories Ron, the dog trainer is AMAZING! He has many years in working with strong breed dogs. He has continued to be a huge support in my dogs training. The training costs are reasonable and if your shopping at petco. Get a petco card!! They will send coupons even for training. Check for clearance bins!!! The deals are too good to pass up. Other things available that I don't buy : fish, birds, reptiles, crickets (I see A LOT of people buying), rats, mice, guinea pigs and all the accessories for each one.
