About Islay Creek Campground
Islay Creek Campground is a peaceful and quiet camping spot close to the beach and hiking trails. Although some areas are worn down, the campground offers clean, odor-free SSTs and plenty of space for campers. It is a primitive campground, so unless using a generator, facilities are basic. The site is sheltered from ocean winds, making it a comfortable place to relax. Visitors can enjoy walking to the beach, exploring numerous hiking trails, and observing local wildlife such as quail and peacocks. However, hikers should be cautious of poison oak, gopher holes, and ticks in the brush. The campground features clean bathrooms and potable water, and while cell phone reception is limited, especially with T-Mobile and AT&T, walking to nearby Spooner’s Cove improves signal. The area is very scenic, with beautiful surroundings and friendly staff, including attentive camp hosts. Many visitors appreciate the tranquility, minimal noise after 10 pm, and the opportunity to disconnect from cell phones. It’s a favorite spot for repeat campers, offering a wonderful experience of nature in a quiet, beautiful setting close to mountain biking, trails, and the beach.

This is a nice campground. A bit worn down. But it's quiet and sheltered from the ocean winds. Yet an easy walk to the beach. There are also numerous hiking trails in the area.

Update: the trail to the tide pools has washed out and is closed. Campsite number 27 is more than “slight” grade. It required more than 7 inches elevation of one end of our van to level it out.

Very nice quiet off the beaten path camping. Great hiking trails also.
