Delicious! I had veggie tempura, chicken curry, naan, and chai tea. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff are very nice! I hope people support this place!

I was really stoked to try some big, delicious deli sandwiches from American Italian Delicatessen, and sadly it was a let down. If you just want a sandwich, fine, it's ok but a bit overpriced. If you're looking for something special though, this isn't the spot. I got 2 sandwiches with the intention of saving one for later and eating one immediately. I like spicy food, so I got a Godfather 2, and I like specials, so I got also got a Monday-only oven roasted turkey. Both on Dutch crunch bread. I also got 2 lasagnas which I haven't eaten yet so jury's still out on them. Anyway, I started with the turkey sandwich and before unwrapping it I knew there was a problem - it was simply too light. Opening confirmed very little turkey, as well as odd looking Dutch crunch. First bite was also very underwhelming, the turkey was dry and the bread was too soft. Where's the "crunch" in the Dutch crunch? The bread didn't really have that chew consistency either, it was way closer to just a standard soft roll. Overall, being small, dry, and on subpar bread was disappointing. Because it was too small, I also ate the Godfather 2, which tasted better but was also way too light. I mean, if I'm ordering something called the Godfather, you need to bowl me over, make it huge. This wasn't even a capo. Taste was fine but the bread was still the weirdly soft Dutch no-crunch. The service was a bit brusque too, very much "what do you want". I'm not expecting them to be like flowery Walmart greeters but would it kill you to act like I'm not inconveniencing you? Inside, the place feels old. Not necessarily dirty, but like it's glory days were many years in the past. Parking of course is tricky. They take credit cards though, although asking for a tip when you slap a subpar sandwich together is kind of funny. Overall I would not be back for a sandwich. The poor quality bread, small amount of meat, attitude... even if the lasagna is great there's just too much that isn't good to justify it.

Almost missed this place but the food really hit the spot. I keep seeing the Godfather sandwhich and I'll have to give ita shot, next time around. This time around, it was the double meat pastrami on a Dutch crunch roll. Can't complain!

Then he said "what ever you do, make sure you stop at The American Italian Deli, because it's the best!" So as soon as I was finished adjusting the Slide Feelers on the Hobbled Wigglerdoo, I was set and ready to go!Man-O-Man a great sandwich! I never knew lunch could be so great! ☆☆☆☆☆

Stopped in for a sandwich. Because. Had seen the reviews for the Godfather, I wasn't with it, changing the cheese to havarti and bread to a sourdough roll. Wow! What a sandwich should be! Really enjoyed the entire thing- bread, meat, cheese, dressing. Perfect match of flavors with the peppers and oils. Nice casual, family owned feel. Not a cookie cutter experience. I'll be back again!

Had the Godfather 2, and it was great. Spicy enough to sweat but doesn't burn your mouth lol - Great Sandwich! My wife had the Ironman and wouldn't share!!

Walked in, got to order right away. Super nice staff. Happy to provide recommendations and answer questions. Good deli vibe. We got the godfather I on sourdough roll and godfather II on sourdough roll. Both very delicious. I preferred the spicy -- and in reality it's not that spicy. We learned the meats are from Molinari deli in San Francisco, which is a famous spot I also love going to in the city. The bread also brought daily from SF. Super good. I would say the meat to bread ratio could be improved slightly -- I would prefer a bit more meat. Super reasonable price. I also checked in on Yelp and got a free bag of chips! Would definitely come back.

Came here for a sandwich after a hike the day after Christmas. I was hoping to try another spot but it was unexpectedly closed and this place was open. Was it the best sandwich of my life? No. Did it hit the spot at an unbeatable price? Yes. And it was good. I did a create my own sandwich with oven roasted Turkey with mozzarella and regular style with all the fixings. I'm guessing the menu specials are pretty good. Plenty of parking in the lot. Seating inside and outside. Service was speedy too. The canned La croix was 2.50 and the sandwich was 12.50 plus some change. Can't beat those prices (well, maybe next time I'll bring my own drink ;-)

Meatball sandwich was bland. Meatballs were cold in the middle. Low grade food and the price reflects at $10.95. With a drink I paid near $17 for just and sandwich and a drink. Not worth it! Atmosphere is fun but it is way underperforming. This a lot of restaurants these days. Way over priced for marginal cuisine.

I love the food here and have been coming for years. I ordered online for pickup and it was absolutely awful. The pickup time said 20 minutes and I proceeded to arrive 20 minutes after I had placed the order. They still had not started my order and there were no other online orders in front of me. They completely ignored my online order until I arrived and did not start to make it until I had gotten there. I waited an additional 10-15 minutes for my sandwiches totaling 30 minutes they had my order for 3 sandwiches. That type of service is awful and they had 4 people working - not like they were short staffed.

The roast beef on sourdough is pretty disappointing. It's mostly bread with a couple slices of roast beef. The ingredients were all good but overall a disappointing experience. The photo speaks for itself..

More of a scrumptious sandwich spot than deli per se. The sandwiches are a delicious blend of quality meats, fresh produce and the best sandwich bread around. Godfather (an italian combo) is the signature sandwich but they’re all good. There’s typically a sandwich of the day, soup of the day and selection of salads. Drink (including beer) and chip selection is plentiful. Occasionally there’s raviolis, meatballs and the like. I don’t typically see an assortment of meat to order by the slice, pound etc. Their forte is delicious sando’s and accompaniments. Outdoor and indoor seating. Muni lot parking very close. I recommend the chicken parmigiana (WED only), godfather’s, and roastbeef.

Love this spot! So nice when a deli does it right, and this is the perfect example of deli done right.
