Not your typical Safeway. No self checkout so you have to deal with the slow and extremely rude cashiers. I’m specifically referring to the two guys who worked tonight. Please put self checkout so we don’t have to interact with those guys.

Very poorly managed during evening hours. A customer who waited in line was rudely sent home because Apple Pay didn’t work. He had to leave his groceries and go home. The next line, where I was in, had Apple Pay working. And it worked for me.
I let the cashier know he should’ve let the other customer pay on this register. He gave me the worst attitude and told me they know what they are doing and I don’t. In front of all the other customers. I told him how unacceptable his response was, and he followed his rudeness and poor manners by saying I can go shop somewhere else.
I hope management reads these reviews because that is just bad. It happened in front of both cashiers tonight at 8.45pm.

During a recent visit (5/26/24 at 5pm) to Safeway, I intended to purchase flowers, as I've done in the past. Typically, the store provides complimentary wrapping services for floral arrangements. However, on this occasion, there was no staff available in the flower section. A cashier, who noticed my need for assistance, kindly offered to provide me with paper and ribbons that I could use to wrap the flowers at home. He asked about my color preferences and began the process.
Unfortunately, our interaction was interrupted by another staff member named Emmanuel, who expressed a different approach. Emmanuel, who stands approximately 6 feet tall, approached us in an unkind manner and informed me that there would be a charge for the paper and ribbon. Despite my reference to the usual complimentary wrapping service offered with flower purchases, he insisted that today's circumstances dictated otherwise, asserting that no one was available to provide the service at that moment.
I refrained from inquiring about the cost and ultimately decided against making a purchase. It was disheartening to encounter such an abrupt shift in service policy, particularly in a large chain establishment like Safeway, where consistency and customer satisfaction are typically prioritized. I believe it's important to uphold the standards of professionalism and customer service expected within such reputable organizations, ensuring that customers are treated fairly and consistently regardless of staffing situations.

Safeway is the worst. You have to wait in a 30 minute line just to buy 1 item. There is always 20 people waiting in line with one register in operation out of six. I’d say Safeway comes in 1st as worst grocery store in all categories. Get with the times Safeway.

Okay honestly I love Safeway.... And this Safeway as a store is clean and well stocked and the bathrooms are also clean.... Not being said, if you want anything from the deli department the sandwiches are skimpy and sorry.... The vegetables look wilted.... The cheese dried out.... Limited condiments.... It's pretty sad and I hate saying that because like I said normally I get brave reviews about Safeway.

Been coming here for years and nearly always leave feeling stressed and unhappy shopping here. Not big so selection is poor. Prices are LG high for a lot of the same stuff. Frequently abysmal produce; IMO the consistently worst produce department in the western half of the valley, and with higher prices than Nob Hill, Sprouts, or other Safeways. Staff just hangs out at front and never makes themselves available to help customers, and they're usually so swamped by long checkout lines you feel like a jerk asking. Cashiers are nice until you hint they're anything less than perfect, then they get testy; this Safeway thinks they're some classy place above criticism because of their LG address but they're actually the worst Safeway in the area, and Safeway ain't anything special so get over yourselves. Been coming here as a resident off and on for twenty years and been doordashing out of here recently and I find this place endlessly frustrating to find what I need and/or get any help from the staff; customers are to fend for themselves, staff are to never walk more than 5 feet from their cash registers. Their information desk where you buy lotto tix/western union/etc. is ALWAYS closed and there's no bell or any way to get help there. Consistently one of the most frustrating grocery store experiences I've had anywhere, and I've been to plenty of other grocery stores...I know what good prices, selection, and service are!! Better than the staff here who are used to a basically non-existent level of customer service. This place desperately needs self-checkout stands and for their staff to get unchained from their cash registers; I ring up my own groceries faster than they do and bag them better than they do anyway. The problem is how badly organized and stocked their store is, and how nobody is available to help customers. Give customers plenty of self-checkout stands and get most of the staff away from the registers and into the store!UPDATE: I think some people here got a talking to because the pleasantness and helpfulness has improved noticeably. It's still a frustratingly small store with higher prices, hit or miss produce, and needs some self-checkout and a staff member on the floor when it's busy, but at least the staff at the registers are more consistently helpful. 2.5 to 3 stars.

Be wary of false advertising at this Safeway. They have numerous price tags for “digital deals” and on a recent trip it seemed that the majority don’t work. We ended up not receiving any of the discounts when going through self checkout.

The pick up guy who did the pickup order asked why I purchased so much milk online. The pick up guy was really curious. That is an invasion of privacy. You should never question customers. I want to report this to corporate.

I came here to get groceries while I was on vacation. I found everything I needed in a timely manner, but one of the baggers had a very deep cough and nasal congestion, that I witnessed as he was walking to the register. He coughed right into his hand, and then asked me if I would like him to bag my groceries. I politely pointed out that I have backpack and I will be packing my own things. He hung around for another couple of seconds before moving onto the next register. I am glad I didn't get a cold, because it's the first day that I've been out of town and it would be a loss to have my vacation time tainted by a cold. I hope in the future the employee can use better judgment and stay at home instead of coming to work very sick.

It is what it is lol sometimes I catch someone missing from the deli or something like that but I think it's because they are doing other work so no real big complaints.
