The team at Nelson Kennels is amazing. They treat Lola as one of their own family members when she stays and bird dog training to boot!I know this because she is always excited when she goes back and has learned some amazing hunting and obedience. I would not trust anyone else more with my dog.

I took my young rescue Britanny to Deanna at Nelson Kennels for obedience training 3 months ago at the recommendation of a friend. He is a lovely dog but because he hadn't received enough attention in his young life, had no manners, pulled on leash, wouldn't come if he didn't feel like it, ran away, was generally a challenge around the house etc. I enrolled him in the monthly in-kennel board / training program and took weekly lessons from Deanna with him. I have a changed dog, and just as importantly, during the lessons, I learned the skills of how to control him ! We are now getting tons of compliments about his training when I have him in public, and 2 weeks ago we completed an off leash obedience challenge at the Nelson Kennels Volta Farms training field and aced it. I am so proud of my dog and thankful to Deanna. She and her husband Scott have taken great care with him and have helped me turn his life around. I am going to continue with the obedience training at Nelson Kennels and may even do some show trials with him later this year. It was well worth the investment. BTW - I did arrange for regular bathing and nail trim for my dog at the on-site groomers during his in-kennel stay and was very happy with them.

Where to begin i took my fur baby to be trained here but he was also a support for my wife we just lost our 2nd oldest grandson who we helped raise and i work out of town so my wife was alone all day and night during the week and i didn't like her there all by herself so when i chosen Nelson Kennels i made it very clear nothing can happen to him they reassured me he would be just fine to fast forward me and scott had a agreement he needed some work done to one of his truck's and i needed sparky to come home so we was going to batter the rest of his training 3 days before on a wensday i came to look at the truck as i was talking to Scott i asked him how do you keep the mice and rats away and he must be really careful with poison he replied we don't use poison we use Irish soap well that following Sunday i get a call from the vet saying my dog is in really bad condition he wad bleeding from his nose and mouth and out the other end i asked what happened the vet said looks like he got into rat poison and seen this before in other dogs my poor baby had been there all night and we were 4hrs away so we rushed our way there but only 20 minutes later we get the call he had passed away Nelson Kennels never called but one time and that was 5 minutes after the vet did to say he's gone now i sent them a letter from my atty i just wanted to cover my loss but more importantly we lost our fur baby he didn't even make it to his first bday now Nelson Kennels is saying i owe them money and basically I'm lucky they don't sue me i still tear up thinking about him and my wife still on certain nights crys herself to sleep i recently just asked them I'll give you the name and number to where we got sparky and just pay for a new support dog and of course no response so don't let them fool you when they say there dog lovers and care about you cause they don't they remind me of corporate America it's all about the bottom line feel free to ask me anything and i do have the report from UCLA on poor sparky. I'll have more of this story in the coming days

I took my 6 month old puppy in for training with Deanna, I told Deanna that I only needed basic training i.e.. stay, come, and not to jump on me, etc. My dog already knew how to walk on a leash and to sit; those two areas were not a problem. I specifically told Deanna that I was not needing any training for hunting, that's not my thing. After leaving my dog for the 30 days I went to pick up my dog where Deanna showed me that my dog could follow her using a thick rope that was attached to her collar and follow commands using a whistle (my dog barley followed the commands using the whistle) Deanna said, my dog was excited because I was there to pick her up. After bringing my dog home I noticed immediately that my dog had not improved at all! I called/texted Deanna to tell her that my dog had not improved at all and asked what could be done to improve this? Deanna said, I had one free session that came with my 30 day package and I could start bringing in my dog for one hour sessions at $80.00 for the hour for 'basic training"!! Isn't that what i just paid for?? Seriously!
