(Update: I just spoke with the manager who asked me to remove the picture. He was a nice person to speak to, so I took the picture down. That does not excuse the young lady's rudeness and she should have given me an apology) ? I just had my first pilates class with Yvette Ayres at this YMCA . She is awesome. So, I thought this YMCA would be diverse and inclusive. I'm a new member, and this staff member discriminated by calling me the wrong gender and purposely avoiding me. Please teach your front desk staff that just because you are all Mexican it doesn't mean you can disrespect all other nationalities including your own dark brown skinned Latinos. The racism and discrimination in Los Angeles within the Latino community is outrageous. Start standing up for what's right and don't excuse Mexicans when they turn their backs on you or avoid eye contact because they were taught that they are superior to others of a darker hue. There are many other cities where African Americans , Latinos, and Asians actually get along. Report hate crimes and discrimination in LA !

So sad to see what's happened to the YMCA. This place is in dire need of a remodel. Such an incredible location and building yet prices are so low that I had to see why. After taking a tour I quickly realized that it wasn't underpriced, it was actually over priced. I wouldn't go for even $1. It's the dirtiest gym in downtown with the potential of being these one at the same time. Sad sad sad.I walked in the locker room and there was a guy on the phone as loud as he could possible be on FaceTime. Naked people walking around and this guy has his camera out. There was so many different things wrong with the gym. You get what you pay for people.

It’s a good location but try not to come from 3-8pm, it’s over run with teenagers and you won’t get to use any weight training equipment for the entire time. If this is your only time to exercise I highly recommend another gym. There’s only a very limited amount of weight equipment anyways. Hope this helps people from wasting their time.

Happy with the staff, and facilities are good, though the clientele (gym users) are on the whole unsavory.

This location is convenient. The facilities are modern. The pool leaves much to be desired. It's a lap pool that is three foot deep. They offer additional locker services and a "spa" separate from the steam room and the sauna. It's cool. The hours are a bit limited.

Very happy with my decision to join Ketchum-Downtown YMCA after being with 24hr fitness for 20 years. Large, clean facility with all of the amenities that you could possibly enjoy. The facility inspires me to workout more often which is a great plus. Highly recommended!

Probably the best YMCA ever. You take the elevator to the roof so you will not deal with too many homeless. Most days there are no homeless in this area. They open at 5:30. I wish they open at 5 but still a great time to open so you can work out and head to work after. Great equipment!!

Never had such a horrible experience at a gym before, not just at this location but at all YMCAs in Los Angeles (and the one in San Diego for that matter). Every time I’m here I’m either harassed or some facility doesn’t work, like more than one time the power went out while I was swimming and they kicked everyone out. The space is a dirty wreck, the staff are always in a bad mood and extremely unhelpful (plus they give inaccurate info) and they close at weird hours all the time for no reason. Why is the pool always closed? I just wanted to work out, man. I was a member for 3 months and they probably took years off my life from all the stress.

Great community space. Classes are well paced by instructors and everyone is very friendly. Best to avoid peak times.

Usually a great gym to go to. Very spacious, three floors, large locker rooms, plenty of machines, but only one standard bench for bench presses. This last time I went, the hot tub AND steam room were both down, and the dry sauna wasn't getting as hot as I remember it in the past. I barely worked up a sweat.
