It is safe and friendly here. I could never thank URM enough for giving me a place right off the street and I have already started working towards getting back on my feet. May God continue to bless the generous donors and the amazing staff for a beautiful and warm environment to regroup and get back on our feet.

Rarely get a supper plate although only a few people ahead of me when I arrive at 645 pm . They hand out plates at 715 but people crowd the door suddenly which makes it hard on those that's been there a long time waiting for at least one meal a day

They helped me and my sibling get situated right away. They give you an ID for the shelter that you must show every time you leave and come back. The staff were very helpful. It's not the best but it's better than sleeping on the streets. They have a cafeteria and a church on the first floor. The other two floors are for families with kids and or people looking to sleep in bunk beds. The police station is right behind it and I believe there's a fire department a block or two over. There's plenty of liquor stores and clothing stores down the way. Stay safe, stay protected and do what you have to do to get housing. Stay blessed.

I was not told I would have to sleep with men when I did my intake I was told men and women including families was all separated I woke up with a man standing over me I was kicked out with no time to find some where safe to go after I checked in at 9pm I was kicked out back on the streets for asking if I can move by LALA and I was told if anything makes you uncomfortable speak with staff I was respectful and patient because I addressed the issue after a week of holding things in and when I felt comfortable to speak about it I was kicked out

May 24th to May 25thAs a woman fleeing domestic violence and harassment while living outside, I sought refuge here in hopes of finding housing and safety. On the first night I stayed in the chapel with women, men and children, which made me uncomfortable with my mental condition. I slept away from everyone on the stage, by the pianos where the cross is.Upon waking up, my top lip was swollen and I had a small gash above my lip and there was extra loose skin inside my mouth like I was punched in the face. There is a cut on top of my head and it still hurts at this very moment.I have a strong threshold for pain as a mother and athlete, so it took a few days to really understand that I was attacked.I felt so much anxiety when I woke up I cried all day, not fully understanding why I felt so depressed.I reported this and was transferred to the dayroom with the other women. I chose that bed with an outlet for charging purposes. I didn't sleep till late because someone was smoking crack and methamphetamine and I could feel it affect my gums and mouth. All of this was being blown into my space through the naked outlet in bed 5, until I stuffed the sides with tissue. When I slept that night I felt someone, maybe two people, move my cot. I felt them lift it up and set it down. I also remember hearing screaming, like a constant AHHH! In my face, in my dream-like state, I couldn't tell if it were me or not. I could not move..The second morning, when I came to, someone had their hand on my private area as I was laying on my back. It was the only Hispanic woman "working" there. I yelled, "don't touch me" and she walked away with no response.Later that afternoon, she returned with a pair of high heels and was giving me this face like I helped her pay for it.I left that night, because my life is in danger there. If you are a single woman from another place, fleeing violence, harassment. Find another shelter to go. They recorded me in the shower, held all of the nice clothing for the sex workers and treat honest, tax-paying women like "snitches".The energy on the women's side is gang like, to the point of it being a threatening environment. It was like I stayed with Ike Turner's family :\ I was literally harassed out of there and the headache I received after being struck on the first night still concerns me. I am strongly considering a hospital visit.I was violated here worse than I was outdoors.Unfortunately, this is why so many women choose the street, why I get pushed out. Why I would rather make a cardboard house on Venice Beach than sell myself to the homeless facilities. To the nice women truly working to make a difference, thank you, but I cannot stay. Skid row is not for everyone.Stay safe and clearheaded,Faby Rabbit

This is a shelter and I would consider the 2nd best shelter in Los Angeles but they take forever to assist you and feed you because they just don't care so if you're really want some help and need some help and be treated as a human being I suggest you don't go here go to the LA mission Because that's the best mission there is besides this one they take forever here at the Union They have to think about it and see if you're race is African American or not In other words they go by the color of your skin and that's a bummer because we're all the same and we all bleed bleed the same!!!!!?.

This shelter is one of the worst I have ever been to.A lot back story me and my wife lost our home a few months back after my wife had a car accident.Since then we have been in a motel then the union rescue missionLet me tell u I didn't expect greatness when I got here but I did expect them to have some kind of program or something to help your transition into permanent housing since being here we have not gotten any help for housing we've had to outsource looking towards other programs to help us.On top of that this shelter says it runs a christian-based program how could they be running a christian-based program when they talk to you so disrespectfully they treat you like you are lesser than them and they house u in the most disgusting building there is no manner no cleanliness it's infested with cocker roaches and the staff do nothing about and will even tries to have you kicked out for complaining so much about it.There staff rather flirt with the single mothers than do there actual jobAnd the old lady miss Thelma is so rude and disrespectful she will lie just to see you kicked out if she doesn't like you.Just stay away for this shelter if you can And please report them if u see or hear and abuse

If I could give this place a double zero I would, food is expired, drinks expired, case managers don't help you, instead look at you as if you are nothing. They make you get out for 4 hrs hrs straight in any type of weather so they can so-called fumigate, they have no compassion,no love and just straight up use major companies to get donations which we barely see. And the security there is disrespectful, call you all kinds of names, make sexual comments, and treat people with disabilities like sh@t. And they have the full to charge you.

This place is amazing! They help people like me who are on the poverty line and homeless, struggling by providing free dental work including oral surgery some months, free of charge!!! All of the staff and volunteers like Michael are awesome! They keep everyone safe by making people screen in with security before their appointments. I mainly made this review to publicly honor a very nice lady named Golden. While her and the visiting oral surgeon pulled my 2 top wisdom teeth out, she was kind, had a nice conversation with me, and helped keep me calm during the procedure as I'm scared of needles and the idea of surgery. Before today, I was especially scared of the wisdom-teeth extraction. Now, I'm ready! Two down. Two to go!!!. Good job Ms. Golden and L.A. Rescue Mission!

The Union Rescue Mission is a place to go if you are looking for some structure and will get you off the streets to show you a better path through the Bible. Also helps people with mental health issues... Very kind place.
