For great top rope fun (for all ages), Stronghold Climbing gym is the place to be. If you're not an experienced belayer, you're still welcome to use the auto belay areas to have fun! If you're trying to belay someone though, you'll need to make sure you have a belay card, which you can get after a quick test with the staff. While the bouldering areas were slightly underwhelming compared to the bouldering problems at their new Echo Park location, and the holds definitely feel greasy compared to other gyms I've been climbing at, I think it is still worth a try! I feel like the rope section had more challenging projects vs other gyms where the climbs were just a lot of work. There's a gym area and training walls upstairs, as well as locker rooms, saunas, and nice showers. I haven't decided on whether I'd want to become a member yet, but coming here from time to time would be an option for me!

We took the bouldering 101 class with Macon (so sorry if I misspelled!) today and it was a blast. Macon was amazing; we got thorough overviews on techniques, best ways to fall, and notes on how to improve our climbing form! Macon was the best hypeman ever to make sure we had a fun experience and was so encouraging when were doubting ourselves. Loved the class and our instructor! I also loved how welcoming everyone was and I liked that there were non-binary options for the bathroom and we've recommended this place to our nb friends! For anyone upset about it, glad they're no longer coming to the gym because I feel like this place is so inclusive and friendly. :) Would absolutely recommend for beginners or for hardcore climbers (we saw a ton at the gym today and were in awe!).

I work at Touchstone. Today I took a field trip to our sister company, mainly to get milage on thin cracks. Really like the finger crack set, and 3 flaring cracks that mimic granite / sandstone stuff on the west coast. Bathrooms were nice. Top out section is pretty cool, parking is interesting but not atypical of LA. General nice utilization of space. Staff is pretty good. Community seemed to be East Siders. Nice to see the self defense and intro to trad anchor classes. Would be cool if we had that. The adjustable crack should be somewhere between BD 0.2-0.5, or 3-5, as the permacracks are already moderate sized. More finger crack sets!

My boys have always enjoyed going to Stronghold and we have been customers for years. It's a great place for both kids and adults and beginners and more seasoned climbers. But today they went above and beyond with their customer service. My son's friend somehow managed to drop his cell phone into a tiny space between the wall and mat and a team of 5 employees worked tirelessly to retrieve the phone for him while also comforting him. They wouldn't stop until they got it out (over and hour!). Thank you Stronghold specifically Eunji, Tinah, Troy and Kate (there was one other but I didn't get his name!). You all saved the day!!

Not nearly as much climbing area as expected, bouldering is weak. Lots of auto belay routes, not my thing. Sorely disappointed.

Great gym! Wish I didn't live so far away, and wish I enjoyed climbing more! It was super easy to become a member, and super easy to cancel my membership.

Came here with my friends and it was great! It was one of the first times they've ever climbed and we had loads of fun, they had great beginner courses for us to use on their autobelays and when we wanted to go on a harder course most of their autobelay courses were very doable for people who's never climbed before. Checking in was quick and easy. Washroom/restrooms were clean. We had so much fun with all their courses we practically stayed for the entire day and made the most out of their day pass. It's a great place to climb can't wait to come back

The friendliest staff ever! It was my first time here so I took my lead climbing test then sent some very interesting overhanging stuff. The location is in a magical industrial area that reminds you of Gotham city. The gym has a great assortment of bouldering and rope climbing, moon boards, a sauna and it's all very clean.

Super friendly staff, great location. It's a great place for older elementary kids to start climbing, there's not a designated kids area but there are easier climbs that kids can reach. I got on the waiting list to join the rec team and it took a while to get a spot but eventually we did. My kid loves being on the team. I took an intro to technique class and the instructor was so helpful, friendly and a great teacher.

Quite the variety - bouldering, rope climbing, and the pit. This location doesn't require a buddy to do rope climbing so you can attend solo and still enjoy it. Each climb has its rating so it's easy to read what one finds easy vs difficult & keep track of it.

I was a little frustrated because this place is hard to find but Olivia at the front desk made it easier to find over the phone. Once I got there she was very knowledgeable about the equipment and explained the climb courses. Olivia made it a nice experience for me and my friend.
