My new absolute favorite bookstore in Los Angeles! Beautifully set with a wide array of books, and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff that keeps me coming back. This place is warm and inviting, and also has a really insightful selection of books on the Mideast conflict.

It used to be a nicely curated bookstore, now it features just generic trendy books they say sale best. I get the need for a local store to be profitable but when the 'staff picks' section featured TikTok authors with no credibility as best sellers just because it drives some political agenda of the latest trend, you know there's no real soul there. Oh well. luckily there are many other bookstores around.

Overall, I think that Skylight has long had an excellent collection of curated books and in-store author appearances. However, I was a bit surprised to find they only carried one book dealing with anti-Semitism, the Holocaust or similar topics. I bought what I believe was the last such volume they had, and expressed hope they would find something else to replace it. If they had other such books or were backordered, presumably the clerk would have told me. Instead, I was expected to name the title myself. I'm not sure that's the standard they use for other topics in the store. The reason that customers go to Skylight is to find something they have NOT heard about. If anyone reading this can suggest some worthwhile titles on these topics that they could carry, I hope they can contact Skylight.

Everyone loves a cozy bookstore like skylight BUT if ur a member of their signed book clubs and u go to pick up your book at the annex they’re gonna be really grumpy at you every time
But nice topical book picks and a good poetry section. ALSO almost took off a star bc they don’t advertise their good events enough and we always miss them but still happy it’s our neighborhood bookstore

I pre-ordered a signed book online from this store and my copies unfortunately got lost in the mail, but, after contacting the store the employees quickly fixed the issue and made sure that I got new copies that were even signed by the author! I was so grateful. Thank you for great service! I was happy I shopped small and supported your store even from out of state. Great shop!

Coming from a bookstore connoisseur and major enjoyer, this was a top hit immediately. Beautiful space, wonderful selection of new and classic reads. Loved the recommendations from the staff, too. I’ll be back! Make sure to check out the art book location a couple doors down, too.
