We went into S&J for the first time today, and were tremendously impressed. Jill helped us, and was a consummate professional. She was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable - and the store's selection is exceptional. We were especially appreciative of how there was no hard selling involved, and how she really listened to what we wanted and provided direction to getting what we need. We feared that retail experiences like this were a thing of the past, but not at S&J.

Not sure what happened or why they apparently shunned us. Had passed their store on Pico Blvd. for decades, and when it came time to replace our carpet, we wanted to go to a reliable company with a long track record. So I called, and then visited the store (trekking from Encino to Beverly Hills) and they were very nice. Met with Evan Biren, whose father and uncle had started the place about 70 years ago. He was knowledgeable and patient, and we came up with a few options to consider for our home . He had samples sent to our home on a timely basis and also sent a woman to measure our home. This is not a small job, over 200 yards and we weren't looking for cheap carpet (the two other estimates came in around $20K). So we were surprised when we didn't get an estimate whatsoever. Multiple calls to Evan -- ten days after the woman who measured had visited our home -- were unreturned. I'm disappointed and confused. Our interactions with him were, in my opinion, very friendly. Not sure why they chose not to bid on this job...maybe they only want business from people on the westside? He just ghosted us. Maybe we dodged a bullet? If it's like pulling teeth to get an estimate on the front end of a job, what would have happened if we had some sort of issue AFTER it had been installed? So, the three stars are based on a 5 star performance when we visited the store, and a one (or zero) star performance thereafter. Like I said, I would have appreciated the opportunity to do business, but perhaps Encino just isn't cool enough for a Beverly Hills store.

Amazing selection. Kim was great. A real professional, knows her stuff. A lite difficult to find but worth it. Ps..call for appt ..works better.

My husband and I needed a reliable place to replace our the carpet before we moved in our new home. Jill provided excellent 5 star customer service and exceeded our expectations. She truly had our best interest in mind as if we were buying from a family member. She is an expert in her field and really knows all things carpet. She was very nice and really understood our preferences regarding color and quality. She didn't upsell or convince us to get something outside of our price range. There is a big selection, which was easy to navigate with her guidance and suggestions. She advised us which sections were within our budget and sourced nearby so we can get it installed within our short time frame. She not only made great recommendations with carpet colors but also gave us great home decor tips. Buying our first home had its stresses and unexpected delays, and we're glad we found this wonderful carpet place.

My clients have also been equally as impressed. From custom dyed carpeting to custom area rugs, this is the place.
