First purchase from Rees and my first typewriter. I did quite a bit of research before selecting a typewriter I was looking for. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the specific typewriter I was after, but had my second pick.
I can’t speak highly enough of the customer service experience with this shop. I was called very promptly and informed the typewriter I wanted had just sold, was walked through other options, and found a different typewriter I had been interested in.
The shipping was unbelievably fast. I had my typewriter well before I expected to. The item was packed delicately a thoughtfully, which can be an issue when buying typewriters - a lot of sellers don’t know how to ship them correctly and safely.
The machine works flawlessly. I typed 4-5 pages, using every key and variant multiple times, at speed (I’m a fast typeset), and went through all the machines functions.
The case is in great shape, considering. These are older machines.
Will definitely be making purchases in the future.

this place is amazing! the holy grail of typewriter shops- this is the store you've been looking for. excellent service, knowledge and selection. I purchased a beautiful Olympia cursive typewriter for a very fair price, and they bought an Olivetti from me that needed a minor repair. Mr. Schulze was attentive and patient while I chose the right one for me. Highly recommend this shop. I plan to visit again soon for service and supplies ☆☆☆☆☆ (photos from March 2022)

As I was heading towards Rees Electronics, I saw a billboard for Grammarly that proclaimed: "Write as fast as you think!" This is exactly what I didn’t want to do and was the reason I was in the market for a typewriter. I wanted to slow everything down and just have fun. This business is awesome, and Mr. Schulze is super knowledgeable about typewriters and very friendly. I spent close to 2 hours trying out different machines and had a phenomenal experience. Mr. Schulze was so patient, and I appreciated his enthusiasm and humor. You don’t find this level of customer service anymore. I ended up buying a Smith Corona and an Olympia and am loving both machines. He even threw in a free ribbon and some paper to get me started. I’ll definitely be back.

Amazing customer service. Helmut really knows what he's talking about and is great at what he does. We tried quite a few typewriters before we found the one that worked for us and he was super patient and answered all our questions.

If you are looking for a manual typewriter or need a repair, this is the place to go. Mr. Shulze is knowledgeable, skilled, patient, kind, and trustworthy. His store is like a typewriter museum, and he is full of interesting information. I had not imagined how much fun I would have looking for a manual typewriter for my granddaughter. There is a plethora of choices, Mr. Shulze gives good advice, and his prices are very reasonable.

So I'll admit, I didn't really know much about typewriters before coming here. I didn't even want to buy one. I needed to rent one just for an art project at a gallery. But the older gentleman inside eased me into different typewriters, understood my budget and my purpose, and sold me a typewriter not only under my budget but in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION! I never thought I'd buy a typewriter in 2023. Looks like I'm coming back for my second and third soon! Thank you for helping me out!

Mr. Schulze is one in a million! I drove up from San Diego to purchase a typewriter, as I'm getting back into writing fiction and I think they are beautiful machines. There aren't many shops like this around. Helmut spent several hours letting me try out various typewriter makes and models. I finally settled on a sturdy mechanical Olympia. The shopping experience alone was fantastic, but I could've stayed for 3 more hours just chatting with Helmut and Steve. I mean, what a memorable day! I will surely be returning to continue adding to my burgeoning collection of typewriters (watch out, Tom Hanks).Thank you for sharing your knowledge and being so generous with your time today ?

I recently visited Mr. Schulze to test out some of the typewriters that he had in his store. He was incredibly helpful, and brought out all of the typewriters I requested, as well as an Olympia that I did not originally come for, but was the one I eventually purchased. He also let me see his Gossen, which I was particularly fond of. We had a great conversation, and I left the store an hour after closing time, and very satisfied. I will be sure to visit again soon.

Above and beyond. Helmut not only fixed a dead key on my 1960s Smith Corona typewriter, but also taught me about features of the machine I had no idea existed! Helmut is communicative, knowledgeable, and provides fast services. Now, typing is more fun and efficient, and the extra info has opened up more creative opportunities for me. (The shop also has a large selection of mechanical and electronic typewriters for purchase.) Can't recommend enough.

In our corporate world, Rees Electronics is a rare blend of high craftsmanship and excellent personal service. Helmut, the owner spent over an hour with me pulling out different styles and brands of typewriters from the ceiling stacked shelves. The place is crammed full. He patiently explained the differences and nuances of each model and let me type on every one as long as I wanted. He patiently answered all of my questions until I settled on a wonderful typewriter in my price range. Then, two weeks later I was given two beat up and frozen typewriters each over 100 years old. Helmut clearly wrote out work orders and pricing which I agreed to. He got each fully working and spruced up in the time frame he had set. A note on Yelp reviews: be wary of a negative review that includes a positive note about a competitor. Regardless, These old machines require someone who knows what they are doing. In dealing with Mr. Schultz, I feel he is a skilled, honest and decent man with a wonderful store.
