We took in our sons 2006 Toyota Corolla for "not starting". I had already diagnosed the key and the battery, and neither worked so I concluded it must be the starter. Pep Boys suggested a new battery while at it and we agreed, even at the outrageous price of $225 for the battery itself, because our son needs reliable transportation. My wife picked up the car and the bill was $930. When she came home and showed me the bill I walked to Pep boys and asked for clarifications on the bill. FYI , starters for basic cars run around $60-$70. Pep Boys charged $320 for the starter. When I asked what brand, what type, no answers were given. I was told, " it was someone else, I can't tell you what was installed." I said, " how can your system not inventory what you installed? You warranty it, right? How could you not know what you installed an hour ago?" He just said "they don't know. " Even if they installed the best one, it'd be only a $120-$150 starter. When I inquired about the $104 to install the battery, he just said" that's what the bill says." I asked " wait, so $104 to lift the old battery out, lift the new one in, and tighten two nuts, for three minutes of work is $104?" He stood by the fact the he knew nothing, and if the bills says it, the guys who installed it would know. But he's the same guy who helped my wife. So the charges were $ 520 for less than market rates for parts less than $300 , and $410 for less than 30 mins labor. That's not market rate, that's not inflation, that's straight gouging.

After leaving work, I realized that I had a hole in my tire, an attempt to find a shop to repair. It I went to three different locations. I arrived to Pep Boys. They were swamped with vehicles and we're getting ready to close assistant manager Charles took it upon himself repair my tire and gave excellent instructions on moving forward

I picked my car up from a valet Parker and was told my headlight was out. I was on Pico so stopped at pepboys. They were just closing. I told the man my problem and said if you are closed I can come back tomorrow. No problem he said , show me your car. He removed the light, sent me next door to get a new light and fitted it for me. Took less than twenty minutes from entering. I asked how much and he said no charge. To me that was incredible service and he was really courteous and efficient- an employee to be proud of!

Welll, they put control arms on my car that didn't belong on my car, which is apparently illegal, and to *make* them fit they CUT the metal that is in front of the brakes! See the pictures. I fought for 2 months through my credit card for a refund and finally got it. Not my only issue, just the biggest. Car was too dangerous to drive and had to buy a different one. Don't do it. Really, DON'T DO IT.

One of the worst place I ever been, really bad customer service I came to the place and I literally waiting 30 minutes for somebody even to show up on the front desk to give me a service then they told me on the flat tire timeframe repair. It's gonna take like two hours to even let me in to check the tire. Very poor customer ser
