I came for a book reading/poetry night. I left with a stack of books. This is such a cute little shop.

Small in size but beautifully curated bookstore, that actually have a sizable inventory. They cover all the basics but with a very strong fiction section and hard-to-find titles. The buyer for the store is excellent.

Do Not Buy at this Antisemitic Bookstore.I was delighted when this brick-and-mortar bookstore joined my neighborhood and have shopped there several times. I was planning to so again today, only to find a table on "decolonization" with a book titled "Sweet Resistance" and another on islamophobia. When I asked the clerk whether they shouldn't ALSO have a book on antisemitism there, he said they "might" have one elsewhere. I replied, "no, on that table," added that this absence sent a message, and left the store with the words, "one less customer." For the record: I find islamophobia as abhorrent as antisemitism. Hag Sameakh!

So good. The booksellers here are among my favorite in town, their selections are god-tier, and they manage to be simultaneously cool enough to satisfy voracious readers with obscure tastes but accessible enough to be a great community hub.

Small but mighty and Manager Mads was able to provide EXCELLENT recommendations for both fiction and nonfiction. Also good selection of local authirs and some small gifts as well. Highly recommend from an avid reader

One of the best indepedent bookstores in Los Angeles. This bookstore has every title you could want plus a really interesting curated selection of more niche titles and used books. The events it hosts are really amazing including author talks, poetry readings, and a block party with local vendors and artisans. They are really striving to make a place for all in Highland Park.

I drove by and got excited by the big, bold signage outside of this new indie bookstore. Don't let the large building fool you: the actual bookstore is a tiny room with a relatively small selection. Hopefully this changes soon!

Can't think of a bookstore that does more with less. A perfect curation of small press, queer, local LA, international, Spanish-language, and other thoughtful niches, coming together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. The booksellers are genuinely passionate about their selection and are basically psychics, their recommendations are so good.

At first, I was beyond excited for this store to be in my neighborhood. For 9 years I've wanted a solid bookstore super close by. BUT then I went in. As a black, queer, and hella bookish person, I am pretty disappointed in the selection of books in this place. Definitely caters to the stereotypical reading habits of middle-class white folks. Which is sad because I think even middle class white folks would appreciate a lot of the modern POC and queer authors that are writing amazing stories across a wide array of genres right now. I know I do.

Love independent book stores! They have a very inclusive group of books offered, have live events with readings or music, and super friendly employees. Support independent stores.
