First gym I’ve applied to in over 10yrs. I was given the option of trying to out for free. Instantly felt welcomed and at home due to the staffs hospitality and the cleanliness of the gym. Spacious, air conditioned, and has wipes and hand sanitizer through out the facility. Freddy, the general manager, gave me the tour and broke each section down for me phenomenally. He didn’t make it feel like a sales pitch. I told him I wasn’t from CA and is looking to regain my health back. Freddy said, “Welcome home.” Then went onto explain the various free classes to join if I wanted to do a group setting as well. I didn’t feel boxed in or pressured. I weigh 160, my goal with LA Fitness is 135. Thank you.

Out of all the LA fitness locations around town, this one is my least favorite.
I was just a guest going with my partner to work out for a little bit (we don’t go together often just once in a while when our schedule aligns). The front desk took my ID after I scanned my guest pass and said we were okay to go in which was fine.
The problem was that after we finished up and I came back to retrieve my ID, we were routed to another guy at a cubicle and he started asking us a bunch of questions like if we were from the area and if we plan to come back tomorrow and such.
Basically he was trying to sell me a membership (which I don’t need I already have one for a different gym). And now after leaving the gym I’ve gotten two phone calls today from LA fitness trying to still sell me a membership.
Some things regarding the gym to note: a lot of the weights are scattered around and bars are missing from benches. Would be so much better if they had extras but they don’t. The space structure is rather small and a lot of the machines are outdated.

I have a great workout every time I come to LA Fitness dtla. The staff is friendly, the machinery is complete, they’re always wiping the floors. Shout out to Freddy, Paul, and Adriana, who always make sure we are treated well!

The gym is not too large and fills up quickly, so don't even bother going between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM unless you're prepared to wait up to 20 minutes for a bench and spend 2 hours there.
The dumbbell rack is always a mess and missing dumbbells, but this is due primarily to the members. Many of them will horde 3 or 4 sets of dumbbells at their bench and this should not be allowed, because there aren't enough to begin with.
Also, many members take the dumbbells to other areas and even downstairs and leave them there.
The staff is not proactive in enforcing this rule, I've seen them not doing anything to stop anyone from taking them downstairs, especially over the weekends.
Also, I've brought to their attention the need of at least three more bars, because there's always at least two benches without them.
They say members take them, well, yes to perform back rows and that's why they should have one for that and two more for the benches.
On another note, at least half of the members don't know what they're doing, many of them are just wasting their time and what's worse, wasting my time.
So expect crowdines, people on their phones, groups of up to five people supposedly working out, long wait times, and lack of sufficient equipment.
On a positive note, the staff is friendly and courteous, maybe too nice, and the gym is very clean. There isn't a day I train that I don't see people constantly cleaning, mopping, wiping, picking up stuff, etc.
Lastly, the music is too loud. It's so loud I can't even hear myself thinking in there even with my ANC earbuds, it would be great if you lower the volume a bit.

The gym is good and clean and has great staff at check-in. But the showers don't always have soap.

Despite having signage up some people fail to put weights back ? It would be nice if an employee could walk around putting some back.

This LA Fitness location is OUTSTANDING! From the Staff to the members, they represent a solid respectful, friendly attitude. The gym equipment is maintained, clean and professionally placed with the equipment groups situated to match the physical areas exercised. The management of this location with emphasis on quality customer service is SECOND TO NONE. The reception is friendly, understanding and helpful. The general atmosphere generates an almost "country club" ambience as you feel appreciated and loved. Other facilities should take a cue and note on this approach as it WORKS!

It’s a big gym, although very little treadmills. I usually come in the last 2 hours before closing, this spot gets less crowded the hour before they close. Other than that it’s super packed.

The members service manager is so unprofessional. I don’t know if it’s his Napoleon complex or what but he needs to adjust his attitude seek anger management. When I walked through the door I was intent on becoming a member but after his attitude. This guy clearly gets off on the little authority he has at WORK! Which tells me all I need to know about him. I see why this place has 3 stars poor management team.

I recently had to freeze my gym membership due to an overseas trip, and I couldn't be more pleased with the exceptional service I received from the manager, Paul. From the moment I reached out with my request, he was incredibly helpful and attentive. If you're looking for a gym with a great management team, look no further. Thank you for making this experience so smooth and stress-free LA Fitness downtown branch!
